Poignant and so true of life as some age.  Beautifully rendered.

Typically Severus to fear his life would feel like a dream when he wouldn't be able to see his beloved portraits anymore. He really should share this fear with his family.
Apart from that this seems to me the right moment to introduce to him the wizard version of photo wallpaper.

Hopefully he will have more tangible reminders than photos from his family themselves. :)

I'm glad he's had a fulfilling life. I imagine him so well grunting each time his wife would want to add a portrait of the family's member but in his heart loving her more for providing said family.

Surely though, not a dream - and the memories will remain as clear as ever.  And these 80 years hopefully are all AFTER the war and mean that he is now a very old and venerable wizard indeed.  And I imagine his mind is as acute as ever...
