While updating his lesson plans, Snape hears something that makes him think of Lily. Possibly slightly out-of-character.

I always feel extremely strange when I'm writing these things, having never really been all that good at talking about myself. In any case, here are the basics: I'm a 41-year-old Canadian who started reading the Harry Potter books about twenty years (!) ago just to see what all the fuss was about. I wrote my first fanfic about a year later, and I've been semi-active in the fandom ever since. I am very musical; I play the bagpipes, I've played the violin since I was about nine years old and I sing with two choirs (a community choir I've been singing with since 1997 and a church choir I've been singing with since late 2008). Writing is also one of my many obsessions, and (much to my relief) the monstrous case of writer's block which grabbed me for a couple of years seems to be gradually letting go. Even so, should I submit any chaptered fics here, it's reasonable to assume that the updates will be pretty far apart even if they're actually finished before I start posting. It's not intentional; I'm just, at times, a little forgetful.

Severus has an interesting way of looking at the past, St Lily was so far beneath him.
I really liked his thoughts in between the lyrics and a few even made me giggle. quite enjoyable.

I'm glad you enjoyed this, and thanks for reviewing.
I remeber the song from childhood, we used to sing it loudly whenever we went on a bus trip or any other time we had a sing-along. I'm really giving away my age here. Anyway, even my Cockney was better than Merv Griffin's, I copied it from Julie Andrews's Eliza Doolittle.I'm a Python fan, but I can attest to how those d@#* coconuts travel even better than they could. We once lived in south Florida on an Air Force base and had a coconut palm as the tree in the front yard of our quarters. Not only did the things travel all over the yard and sprout when hurricane winds blew them from the tree, but family and friends who visited always took at least one home with them. The family and friends who didn't make it to our place would request us to bring them one back with us when we were reassigned. There was a big box of coconuts in our car when we left that traveled all the way up the East Coast.I know it's ironic, but I am allergic to coconut.I love the spin you put on St Lily, she's not such a saint here and I like it that way.

Interesting story. Sorry to hear about the allergy, though.Glad you liked it. I really dislike the way that Lily's practically deified by nearly everyone in canon; it's clear that she was far from perfect, and when I include her in my writing (as rare as that is), I try to keep that in mind. I don't want to bad-mouth her, exactly, but I don't want to bathe her in the adoration that she's given in canon, either—even accounting for the fact that most people who knew her would hardly be willing to insult her in front of Harry, I always thought that the way that people talked about her seemed to be a bit excessive, like something out of a fic with a prominent Mary-Sue.Thank you for reviewing.
I laughed out loud over the migration of cocounts line. I believe for every "Potter" fan there is a little "Python" fan lurking.

I wouldn't be surprised. A lot of us do seem to have an interesting sense of humour. Thanks for reviewing.
