Wow, this is intense.  I was wondering if the mist covered the entire world, now we know it's only around the environs of Hogwarts.  Of course, you've replaced that question with a new one: what is the new decree that Hermione/Jane doesn't know about?  I suspect it's something similar to a Marriage Law type deal, which may be the reason that Severus is beginning to cultivate feelings of interest in her--just in case their plan is unsuccessful and they remain trapped?  Always have a backup plan, and families intermarrying isn't a new concept for purebloods so no one would think twice about the whole "niece/uncle" aspect either.

I've really been drawn into this story, and I hope that the next chapter comes out soon!  Although it's nearly Christmas, so I suppose you'll have a few other things to be doing instead of writing... 

I'm utterly speechless.  This is on of the most intriguing and original story ideas I've ever read.  I love the interaction between Severus and Hermione.  The mystery of the mist and the tension you've weaved will keep me eagerly checking for updates.

Welcome to TPP, and THANK YOU for posting this awesome fic here! I've read it before, and I've really enjoyed reading it again, even though dark usually scares me. But it is so well crafted, there are too many sentences that made me shiver to mention.
