Part Three: Her Parting Words
Chapter 3 of 3
ClairvoyantWill his apology be enough to compel her stay?
ReviewedA gentle hand on her shoulder and a velvety voice halted her departure. “Miss Granger, I’ve grown accustomed…”
“Not another word, Professor,” she hissed, knocking his hand away. “Nothing you say will make a difference. I’m leaving you and Hogwarts forever. For the past two years, you’ve been dreadful to me, simply to harden me, prepare me for the world outside. Congratulations. You’ve succeeded. But I’ve a young man who wants me, however ill-suited we are for each other.” Uncomfortable silence followed. “So what do you have to say?” she huffed.
“I’m sorry, Hermione,” he said softly, contritely. “Please forgive me.”

Uh! And followed by full-force-fluff!That was unexpected. And and evil cliffy o'doom (yay for cliffies though. I squee for cliffhangers)That's not the end, is it?I crave to see her reaction to this!!! (And don't tell me to collect that little wit that is hidden in that empty bonce of mine to make up the following evetns! - I want to read it!)...exclamation mark abuse. A good sign, I'd say :D
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Thanks again, Isalie. Hermione was harsh, but he made her that way. Yeah, he better suck it up and apologize if he expects to spend sexy time with her. ;)
oooh, damn! This is one to stand on its own.So much unsaid, so many possibilites.Splendid!
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
So glad you liked this, Isalie. Yes, so much unsaid between his criticisms. All she wants to do is run away, but he won't let her, not yet at least. Hmm, what to do?
Now the Severus I know will never leave things like this, especially since Hermione, herself, said how unsuitable Ron is for her.
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Exactly! She'll give him the opportunity to explain himself... eventually... I must get around to finishing this in 100-200 words. *grins sheepishly*
Okay, Hermione, let's just weigh your choices. On one hand Ron, and on the other hand Severus, Ron, Severus, Ron, Severus. No competition here!
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
That's true, but he treated his apprentice so horribly over the past two years, she doesn't care how much she's attracted to him.
Lovely.
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Thanks for reading and reviewing.
That's true. :)
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Isn't that all too true! This is a promising start.
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Thank you very much, bel.
Clearly he was hurt by her response. Not that he doesnt richly deserve it. Maybe he could grovel for awhile. I always enjoy that.
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Her response summarized the experience as his apprentice of two years. He had a speech prepared, meant to lure her into staying with him. He wasn't expecting her to outrage to surface that quickly. LOL
Praise be! I love it when Hermione is a PM and LEAVES HOGWARTS! Did you write this drabble series just for me??
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Hi,
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
. *waves*I had no idea you had a love jones for Potionsmistress!Hermione, leaving Hogwarts and all that. I do take prompts, you know. It's helps me think outside teh box and step away from my tunnel vision (see WIP).
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
I was cruising down the list of stories you have here and came to a screetching hault when I hit the WIP. Not that I am allergic to works in progress, I read them all the time. Its the Lily, Sirius, Peter characters. Icky. Can we still be friends?
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Of course, we are still friends! LOLWhen I do post the new chapters of my WIP, they will be Severus-centric and no more flashbacks... well, maybe just one flashback... I promise. You can join the programme, already in progress.
Maybe he did mould her somewhat being her teacher and all? I know I know ewwwww student/teacher icky thoughts. I could not help the comment.
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
No, no, I agree to a certain extent. She was constantly seeking his approval because he was stingey with compliments, unlike her other teachers. I'm sure that motivated her to do her best.He needed to look beyond her surface to realize what a gem Hermione is.
OMG! He said "please"! That alone should soften her and make her stay.
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Her curiosity always gets the better of her. She wants to hear what he has to say. Thanks for reading and reviewing,
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)

I'd say an apology is definitely a good place to start. But Hermione sounds awfully embittered by his treatment of her during her apprenticeship. Hopefully, what he has to say will make Hermione think twice about about recklessly rushing off to a man she knows is ill-suited to her, which would end up hurting her most of all in the end, as she would be the one stuck with him for life, not Snape.
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
His aplogy is a foot in the door, a good place to start. And her plan to return to Ron? Empty threat. Thanks for reading and reviewing, HD.
wonderful! thanks
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Your welcome and thanks to you,

"Perhaps she and Ron might make a go of it again. "
Has she hit her head too hard against the wall while trying to cope with his infernal character? *grin*
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Just empty threats and plan B if Severus doesn't wake up and make a move. *teehee*
Hmm, what to do... what to do?
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
She could take a few minutes to hear him out. It's only fair.
"I've grown accustomed to your face, it almost makes my day begin...." One of the timeless love songs.... Charming little vignette you've written !!
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Thank you, mm. Isn't MFL a great musical? But the story is so classic. The professor thinks he can turn a gutter-snipe into a lady and still be immune to her charms? Think again!

Nice piece! You write very beautifully! I like how Severus describes Hermione’s imperfections. And the first line: “Compared to his first obsession – another Muggle-born Gryffindor – she would never be considered a classic beauty”.I believe that Hermione has so much more than “the looks”. She’s loyal, loving, caring and smart. She’s also strong and moral –Severus knows all this, of course, that’s why he loves her-. And even if she’s not as pretty as Lily was, she deserves Severus heart a thousand times more than Lily ever did. Lily walked away from him, I’m not defending him but it seems a very poor excuse to stop talking to your best friend because he insulted you. He tried to talk to her, but she wouldn’t listen. Hermione would have listened. As a read sometime on another fanfiction, if Severus would had have somebody like Hermione as a friend on his days as a Hogwarts student, he’d have done so many things differently.
Nice piece, I hope to continue reading you. Thank you for sharing.
Author's Response:
Thank you, MP. This is one of the best reviews I've ever received!
If anyone understands about the importance of the product and not the packaging, it would be Severus. He's not considered handsome himself, so he would surely treasure what's inside Hermione. He learned the first time that beauty isn't everything. Yes, Lily was pretty, but she wasn't a true, supportive friend. Hermione is forgiving in canon and fanon. She and Severus have so much in common, they are soul mates. *sigh*
Thanks again!
Mafer_Potter's response: I was trying so hard to express how I feel about Lily, and you expressed it just perfectly! “But she wasn't a true, supportive friend” That’s the purest true... “Hermione is forgiving in canon and fanon. She and Severus have so much in common, they are soul mates” This is true as well. I though I was crazy, but then I see so many people thinking the same... They’re meant to each other. I like to believe that in cannon, they didn’t ended up together because J. K. Rowling didn’t want to create more polemics –it was enough with Dumbledore sexuality-. Anyways, I like to read between lines in cannon and I just can see love!Than you for replying, I’m happy that you liked my review as much as I liked your fanfiction.
That is such an accurate description of her. Is she going to reciprocate?
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Stay tuned to find out. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Snitchette.
Absolutely perfect:-))
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
Thanks so much, deary.
to true. what did he have of his first loves beauty.the always reminding eyes of Harry. But here. At last a soul that sees through and can bear what it sees. Much more worth than any beauty, shiny hair and soft spotless skin in the world. ha!
Response from Clairvoyant (Author of Pygmalion and Galatea)
I agree. Beauty fades certainly, but it what's inside that endures. Soul mates, indeed.

Ooh, worded so well! Excellent way to use the prompt. Yes, she's no beauty, but she's his, and he's hers, and that is most important.
Author's Response: Thank you, my dear. Neither would be considered a beauty, but they are made for each other, indeed.
