Reviews for Leap Year
interesting story! never heard about leap year traditions... will be sure to look it up! and yes, Snape is most certainly no house elf, we are very clear about that!;-)
Eridanus ~
Since I heard this was your first fic, I needed to take the time to leave you a very thoughtful review.
I actually read this while I was at work a few days ago, but I hate leaving reviews from my cell phone thats why its taken me so long to actually getting around to it.
I loved this story, especially for it being your first one it was great. It was cute and different and just plain awesome. I loved the dialouge that you had, but was wishing for more interaction between our favourite couple. I was hearing about things they did together instead of actually getting to see these interactions happening. So in a way everything felt kinda rushed in my mind.
The "I've loved you since..." part at the end was amazing. And if I were Hermione I would have assumed rejection also. You really expressed the emotions of the situation and I really can't wait to read more from you in the future.
Thanks For Posting!
Much Love,
~ Brena
This was nice. Wouldn't have known it was a first time fic. Hope to see more from you.
I really liked that it was kinda cute and sad.
A fun and light-hearted little ficlet! I knew nothing about leap year proposals so i found it quite informative too:-D...I'm off to wikipedia to learn more now...
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you! I always loved this tradition, the Danish version at least, and when I thought of the story Wikipedia was a big help... Wikipedia, is there anything you can't teach me?Thank you for reviewing!
That's a nice first one! Lovely, mange tak! When I read this, I thought of another one about a couch in the staffroom, it's from machshefa, do you know it? Staffroom couches seem very inspiring. :)
A fun and light-hearted story. I can just see the two of them reading on that perfect couch. When they marry and have mutual quarters, they should have the couch moved into their study by the fireplace. To heck with the rest of the staff!
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
I like to think Minerva (together with the rest of the staff) gave Hermione and Severus the sofa as a wedding gift (if only to make sure any newly-wed-couch-cuddling take place in their own quarters)! Thank you for reviewing!
Wonderful story! I would not have guessed it was your first had you not said so up top. Write more, please.
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you! That really means a lot coming from an experienced writer like you! All these wonderful reviews makes me want to write more, and I have several ideas. Leap Year is just the beginning!Thank you for reviewing!

Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you! Og selv tak! I haven't heard of other staffroom couches that I can remember, but I'll definitely check it out! The sofa came as one of the last parts of the story. I couldn't think of an intro, and then suddenly, this sofa appears in my imagination, and well, you know the rest!Thank you for reviewing!
This was so fun to read!! I loved how he made sure she understood he was not a house-elf! HA!
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
I'm glad you think so! I think the sweater made him understand that she cares about him, and what is more heart-warming than a warm sweater (even if it is horribly knitted )?Thank you for reviewing!
What a lovely story!!! Thank you for posting it!!
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you! You are very welcome, and thank you for reviewing!
That was quite sweet.
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you! And thank you for reviewing!
Very, very good story! I can't believe it's your first foray into fanfiction; it's sweet, yet not overly sticky; funny, yet emotional; just a really enjoyable read! Keep it up!gab
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you! I had a lot of worries about it, being my first, because I thought it might be too sappy. It had to have some romance, some facts, some drama and a little bit of fun, and it was really difficult to put them all together, rather harder than I thought really, but I'm so happy you liked it! I'm definitely going to write more!Thank you for reviewing!
Very sweet. “Woman, cease squirming, or I’ll Petrify you,” he growledCLASSIC!
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you! I had to put in some sort of snarky comment from our favorite Potions master before it all became too sappy. And they are both sitting together for the same reason; the other one is quiet! So I imagine Severus would say something like that in the given situation!Thank you so much for reviewing!
Very sweet story. Okay, I have to be the nerd here >.< When Severus says "Stop squirming, woman or I'll petrify you" isn't it supposed to be "or I'll stupefy you" ? Just a suggestion, since I haven't found a petrifying charm on HP lexicon. And I know I'm a know-it-all, so please forgive me ;)Otherwise, it was very good for a first story and very heartwarming. I hope you continue to write!
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you!Well, I can sort of see where you are coming from, but the 'Petrify' (note the big 'P') refers to the spell 'Petrificus Totalus', the Full Body Bind, used in books 1, 5, 6 and 7. I've often heard people using 'Petrify' instead of 'Full Body Bind', and I ended up using that here. I did consider 'Stupefy', but Severus just wants Hermione to be still, not unconcious. If you look up Petrificus Totalus in the Lexicon, you'll see what I mean. But I'm glad you liked it! I definitely will continue writing!
Response from Lothen (Reviewer)
Ah, thank you for clearing that up! I hope I can read some more from you soon ^.^
Ah, so sweet and so well in character. I heartily agree with Minerva. So fitting how they didn't look around who might be there! So this isn't just a Finnish tradition? Here in FIN (where I've been living for 15 years now), the fine was fabric (and lace and all) to make a dress. Today, it usually comes as a voucher--but still for material, so the woman has to sew! My colleague used to propose to several men each leap day--very well selected men who will NOT accept, she said. I have always been hoping one would surprise her... Besides the two hilarious sentences other reviewers already quoted, also both "I have loved you since..." made me giggle.
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Teehee, I like to think she was the one who told Hermione about the tradition, and won a few bets when they finally hooked up!Nope, I also thought the whole tradition was strictly Danish. My mother told me about it when I was a child, and I always thought of it as a great way to get a lot of gloves. But when I thought of the story, and searched Wikipedia, it turned out Denmark isn't the only place. But I think it really funny how your colleague keeps the tradition up! A reviewer on a different site told me that a former president of yours used to get a lot of proposals on Leap Day, poor man. All that fabric...I debated a lot with my self on those two sentences, because I was afraid they would become sappy, but in the end they made the story flow better, and I'm really glad you found them as funny as I did! Thank you for reviewing!
My favorite line of the whole story is "the Potions master and the Arithmancy professor were both asexual bookworms who hogged the good sofa." You had me giggling!
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
I added it as an afterthought, but it really ended up being one of my favorite lines too!Thank you for reviewing!
Aww, this is so sweet :) Loved it! And welcome to the wonderful world of fan fic writers!
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you so much! It's great to get a review from an experienced author like you!Thank you for reviewing!
I didn't know the tradition but I love it. Well done.
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
My mother told me about it when I was a child, and I recently thought of it, and I just had to write about it! Thank you! And thank you for reviewing.
Severus Snape the walking repelling charm, wonderful. It was a very nice story
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
I know! Had a lot of fun writing that line!Thank you for reviewing!
beautiful!!!!... “I have loved you since the first time you showed me your collection of first edition books. absolutely beautiful!!! ... thanks for sharing
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you! Yeah, that collection is rather special. I tried to get a look, but Severus wouldn't let me! If that wasn't an admission of love, I don't know what is!Thank you for reviewing!
Aw, that was sweet, yet a little panicky for a moment.
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Thank you! Not sure what you mean by panicky, though?Thank you for reviewing though!
Response from Maddie (Reviewer)
Oh, when she though he was rejecting her.
This was absolutely CHARMING !!! I loved it and I'm not even a big SS/HG fan !!! Thank you for a lovely ending to an otherwise hectic day!!
Response from Eridanus (Author of Leap Year)
Aw, you are very welcome! I'm glad you like it despite the whole not being a big SS/HG fan. It's a little known tradition, and it could probably work with any pairing, but I'm a huge HG/SS fan, so it just had to be those two!Thank you for reviewing!
What a wonderful story and a super custom. Thank you so much for posting this. I really enjoyed it.
