Just an avid reader who somehow stumbled into HP fanfiction. I read and sometimes, I write.
Reviews for Between the Sand and Stone
I'm still loving it (even if you torture us with evil cliffies)!!!!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Thanks, Gabi! You know how much I love those cliffies! LOL But I think that's the last one for a while. ;)
I love this story! You capture the essence of Snape so well. I hope that Hermione doesn't lose the baby, its really all she has left of Draco. (I'd like to hear how that started.)
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Thank you so much for the lovely review! I'm thrilled to know that you're enjoying this incarnation of Snape. :)We'll definitely be hearing more about how her relationship with Draco started. Probably around chapter six or so. Thanks again!
This chapter was lovely, evil cliffy and all! And Severus is so very, well... Severus! And now we wait on pins and needles.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
I do love the cliffies, but I think this is the last one for a wihle. LOL ;)Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying the story thus far.
You are killer with these cliff hangers! Fab story, nice to see something different.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
I am fond of cliffhangers, unfortunately, but this is the last for a while, promise! ;)Thank you so much!!
Another EVIL CLIFFIE?Next chapter in a week? All my fingernails will be gone by then!!! *Pouts*I do hope Hermione isn't ill in addition to being pregnant. But even Severus noticed that Hermione felt rather underweight considering her height and advanced pregnancy, perhaps her collapse was due to malnutrition? I remember she seemed to be living on mostly those cheap noodle thingies before she came to Spinner's End. It would fill her belly, but I'm sure they don't contain sufficient nutritional value for the average person, let alone a very pregnant woman. So far Severus seems inclined to ignore Hermione as much as humanly possible, even though that choice is evidently pricking his conscience a bit. Hopefully, he'll soon find it in his heart to be more of a friend to her... it would be a great thing for both of them.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
I know, I'm awful about the cliffies, but I do love them so. LOL But I do believe this is the last one for a while. You are very observant, and that's all I can say about that. ;)I think that Severus is ready for a friend ... he just needed a little nudge. The nudge is coming up soon. ;)Thanks so much for the lovely review. I'm thrilled that you're enjoying the story thus far!
Oh, bad Shug! Evil cliffie. *hrumph*It's nice to see them getting along. Severus seems to be softening a bit. I wonder where that will lead, hmm?Just love it!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
*grins* I do like a good cliffie! ;)He is softening a bit already -- not that he'd admit it. LOLMore soon! Thank you so much!
You do know how to end your chapters to keep an avid audience don't you?
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
LOL I do try! Hopefully it works. ;)Thank you so much!
Love it!!! I cant wait to see how things progress between Severus and Hermione. Please update soon!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
THank you so much! The next chapter will be up in a week. :)
I love this story:) You've made the characters so believable, I can see the scenes unfolding in my head as I read them.Warm regards,Fizzabella
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Thank you so much for the lovely review! It is one of my goals that the scenes can be visualized, so I'm thrilled t hat you are able to do so. :)Thanks again!
What a cliff hanger, can't wait to read more!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
It's an evil way to end a chapter, I know. ;) Thank you so much! More in a few days, I promise.
A well written story, and now this huge surprise! No doubt, in Snape's mind, the only thing worse than Hermione at his door is a pregnant Hermione at his door. But I'm sure he will show her at least a modicum of uncharacteristic compassion. Since he obviously loved Draco like his own, he may come to love the baby as well.Heart wrenching. I can hardly wait for more.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
*grins* You certainly have that right! More on Snape's thought at Hermione's arrival -- and pregnancy -- in the next chapter. ;)I'm glad you're enjoying the story thus far! Thank you!
Wow! Pregnant? Where did that come from? Don't worry about explaining that, Shug.I needed tissues once again during Hermione's packing process. Her sadness is so palpable. You expressed her emotions so well.Looking forward to your update.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
No explaining? Okay. ;) More on that in the next chapter.Thank you so very much for the lovely review! I'm thrilled that you're enjoying the story thus far.
With the Weasleys determindedly ignoring Hermione and Draco's old "friends" treating her so horribly, Greg Goyle's unexpected kindness towards Hermione was quite touching. At least one of Hermione's former Slytherin schoolmates seems to have a heart. As for Severus, it seems fairly certain that he never dreamed Hermione would actually come to him for assistance. I'm not sure if it's because he wasn't aware of just how bad Draco and Hermione's finances were and/or the fact that Hermione has no one left to turn to. Perhaps he thought the Weasleys would thaw towards Hermione in the wake of Draco's death. Or maybe he just thought Hermione's Gryffindor pride would never permit her to seek aid from her former evil Potions professor. And on top of everything else, Hermione is pregnant? While it probably helps that Hermione is carrying her beloved husband's child, with her financial circumstances... it will be interesting to see how she and Severus cope with this side of the situation. This was such an emotionally charged update... I had tears in my eyes the entire time I was reading.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Thank you so much for the lovely review!I'm glad you noticed Greg ... we may see him again. :)As for Severus, yes to all of the above. ;) More on his thoughts about that will be in the next chapter.I'm so glad you're enjoying the story. It's a bit sad right now, I know, but it will get better, I promise! Thanks again!
Wow, poor Hermione. Breaks by heart :( Look forward to see what happens next
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Thank you so much! More soon. :) I'm so glad you're enjoying the story!
Whoa, you got me there! I had briefly wondered during the last chapter whether Draco had left her with a last gift, but in the course of this chapter I had abandoned that thought...So, I guess she is showing already?I just love your chapters, no matter how long, they are always over much to soon!! You always show so much care in developing your characters and one just has to love them!!! I'm looking forward to the next update already, great work!!!!Love, gab
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
*grins* Thank you so much, gabi! I'm thrilled that you're enjoying this one. :) Yes, she's already showing, so we won't be going through the entire pregnancy. Just how far along she is, however, will be revealed next chapter. ;)Thanks, again!
If this shows up as doubled, I am sorry, internet exploder refused to load my review.anyway, I don't like the Malfoy family, but You had me feeling sorry for Malfoy before I knew who it was. So here I am reading this, and going on to the next chapter. I suppose he really, sincerely loved her to give up everything for her.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
"internet exploder" -- *snickers*It's always a huge compliment when I can make someone feel for a charater they wouldn't normally like. Thank you so very much!
I cried through most of this! However, I LOVE it, and the angst won't put me off at all!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
*passes the tissues*Thank you so much,
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
! I'm glad you;'re enjoying the story so far. It's going to be quite a rollercoaster, between all the angst, drama, and some fluff (there is a baby coming, after all). LOL I'm glad you're along for the ride!
I'm reading this at work. Now I'm all sad, sniffly and red-eyed (the crying sort of red eyes, not the Voldemort kind). Thanks alot, Shug.*Grins sheepishly* I like this a lot, even though it has a sad beginning. Will karma like that lead to a happy ending?
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Oh, dear! *passes tissues*I should have put a tissue warning, huh? I'm glad you enjoyed the prologue, even though it is terribly sad. And I promise a happy ending -- those are the only kind of endings I like! ;)Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it thus far. :)
A promising beginning. A surprising note to leave this chapter on. makes us think, Oh! if she could only be pregnant, she'd have her husband's child. and then OH, she'd be in much worse straights if she were. Your descriptions of Snape's neighborhood and home were noteworthy.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Oh, yes. It's definitely both a cause for celebration and worry. I'm glad you liked my descriptions of Spinner's End -- I took my cues and a few details from HBP and then expanded on them. :)Thank you so much!
Love the interactions and/or reactions.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Thank you so much! :)
Great story. I liked Hermione's knock echoing down Spinner's End; it was strangely evocative. Await more with interest.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Thank you so much! Yes, I could hear that knocking, and it was a reminder of just how isolated he is. More soon. Thanks again!
This has quickly become such an intriguing story, I'm hooked already. You simply are amazing! I'm looking forward to more...
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Aw, thank you so much, Gabi! More to come very soon! :)
That was most enjoyable. Looking forward to more.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Thank you very much! More soon. :)
good for our hermione! tough as it is she can't let that slimey creep take advantqage of her. great update. thanks muchly ps for me it's little drummer boy! everytime i hear rum pa pum pum i want to go screaming into the night!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
She wasn't about to that sitting down. ;)Hahahahaha! There seems to be one song every year that gets overplayed to the point of insanity. I worked retail when I was younger, and it was awful. I swear it's a conspiracy...Thank you so much!
What a foul, disgusting slimeball of a soon-to-be-ex-landlord! If it weren't for her already desperate circumstances, I would say she's better off elsewhere. But where else has she to go during the holidays, with no friends or famiy to turn to and only whatever's left of her galleons after she pays for those three days? It sounds like maybe it's time for her to swallow her pride and heed Draco's dying request about contacting a certain Potions master.BTW, I can totally sympathise with Hermione, feeling driven nearly 'round the bend with the saccharine holiday music and persnickety customers. Several of my local stations go to 'all-holiday-music-all-the-time' from Thanksgiving thru New Year's Day and Christmas decorations are up in all the stores immediately after Halloween... the exasperating repetitiveness of it all tends to quickly get on my nerves. And then a couple of years ago when my mom passed away --just a few weeks before Christmas-- all the holiday cheer and fuss went from merely annoying to downright intolerable. I can only imagine what Hermione's going through with no one else to turn to.Poor Hermione!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Between the Sand and Stone)
Yes, I do believe she's out of options--time to fulfill that promise, I think! :)Christmas, for the joy, can often be one of the most depressing time of year for many people. Hermione is really on her own at this point, and the holidays are just another reminder of all she's lost. Poor dear.Thank you so much for the lovely review!
