I'm way too old to be visiting sites like this (dare I admit to forty-something!) but my love of all things Severus Snape/Alan Rickman keep me addicted! Poor health keeps me from working and at home all day and gives me too many excuses to read/write fan fiction in an attempt to keep me sane. I have two lovely sons, and an even lovelier hubby, to try and keep me on the 'straight and narrow'. And, now, they're aided in that task by the more recent addition to our family of two beautiful black, male, kittens - Merlin and Mesmer! (I wanted to call them both Alan Rickman-related names, so, naturally, one was very nearly 'Severus'... Unfortunately, my family drew the line at that particular wizard so I had to be a bit more subtle - hence Mesmer [as in Franz Anton for those not familiar with the AR film, 'Mesmer']; the name also happens to be short for mesmerising!) ;-)
I have a few stories (and poems) posted at Occlumency, under the same pen name as here, and have gradually been expanding on my repertoire both here and there over the last two or three years. Despite claiming to be in 'fanfic retirement' of recent times, I now find myself with newer additions on Ashwinder, Fanfiction.net and Granger Enchanted where I go by the names of Sevvy253 or Sevvysgirl/Sevvysgirl253. However, this site retains the most complete listing of all my work to date.
I also have an account on DeviantArt - http://sevvysgirl.deviantart.com/
where I am gradually starting to display some of my artwork 'attempts'! :-)
And - finally - I'm being totally shameless in promoting my own new shop on Etsy! Here is the link: http://www.etsy.com/shop/sevvy253?ref=si_shop
I'm only just starting up, so stock is limited at the moment, but I'm hoping I will go on to bigger (and better) things. From little acorns, and all that ... Please feel free to pop by from time to time to see what changes may be in store (no pun intended!)

"...she knew nothing of his actual life outside of Hogwarts. Perhaps he had a lover? She knew he was unmarried for she had heard it discussed many times."These words are just the kinds of thoughts that would run through a person's mind when contemplating seeing the object of one's affections for the first time in years. Very realistic. Well done!Beth

Thank you for continuing to read this story and for your thoughtful review. Whilst I love 'escapism' and the total fantasy involved in fiction, I am also a realist I'm afraid, and probably 'think' too much myself (hence Sara's own thought processes!) Glad you are enjoying the story so far! :-)
I love the thoughts that Sara has as she descends the stairs to the dungeons. Her memories are as clear today as they were when they were first created. It is significant that she gave up her own apothecary to accept a position as the School Secretarial Assistant so she could return to Hogwarts and to be around Severus Snape. She clearly has enduring feelings for him. Now to find out what happens when she reaches his door! I'm glad you posted this for our enjoyment. Thank you.Beth

Thank you so much for your kind review! I am glad that you are enjoying my story and are intrigued enough to keep reading. I really appreciate you taking the time to review :-)
You handled a very difficult subject beautifully, sevvy, and what's more, I think you have shown the futility of obsession. I fully think that, had Dumbledore not made Severus swear to fight for the light, Severus would have taken his own life, so distraught was he at the news of Lily's death. Some might say that Dumbledore made Severus sign his own death warrant but by giving him a reason to go on, Dumbledore actually saved him. I look forward to seeing how this concludes, even though it will clearly not be a happily-ever-after.

I guess you are so right about how Severus may have ended up had Dumbledore not intervened. I'd never really thought about that in truth. But, you're right - he was distraught over Lily's death. Mind you, I think Dumbledore also worsened the situation by using a kind of emotional blackmail/guilt complex over Severus from then on; perhaps without that he may not have been manipulated so much and may not have ended up dying at the fangs of a giant snake! Then again, of course, he did save HP and, ultimately, the wizarding world by his actions!!Thanks so much again for your thoughtful review. Although this story is definitely not 'happy ever after', I hope the Epilogue will not turn out to be quite the doom and gloom everyone seems so afraid of and that you feel you can read on. Thanks again! :-)
Very beautiful in its sadness, sevvy!(Sorry for the short note. I should not be sitting at the computer at all right now.)

I'm amazed that you are sitting by the computer right now & doubly flattered that you've found time to send me your review - thank you! Hope the hols are going well :-)
Even with such a desperate subject as suicide I find it beautifully writen. I could only assume that it would happen after the shock of his death in the previous chapter. And I, for one, was not offended in the least by this chapter. I saw the warnings before I even read chapter one and was prepared. I think there are entirely too many happy stories out there. We must have opposition in all things in order to appreciate what we have. So a sad story every now and then only heightens our emotions all around. Thank you for your story albeit a morose one. I look forward to the next chapter.

Thank you so much for your lovely review and your continued loyalty with this story - I really do appreciate it. These are my sentiments exactly and, whilst I actually love 'happy endings', I think that there are just slightly too many of them out there and, as you say, it is sometimes good to be a bit different. However, I am hoping that this will not be too much of a morose story eventually for readers but, instead, rather more of a thought provoking one. Perhaps even one that offers something JKR never gave poor Severus in canon ... that of hope.Thank you again for reading and reviewing :-)
What? You can't have him die just like that! I liked your story. Are you trying to drive people away? Please tell me he's not dead and all will be forgiven. Please let it be a joke, or a misunderstanding...please?Okay, enough on that. I really love your style of writing. It's great. I'm right there with Sara and I've had moments where I can't wipe the smile off my face for anything. I look forward to another update...hopefully our wonderful Snape will be alive. But then I remember the warnings and I get scared.
Response from Sevvy (Author of Don't Stand So Close)
The trouble with warnings is that you can put people off with them but, if you don't put them, you can also be accused of all sort of things! That was the dilema I faced when I decided to put them in! All I can say to you is that I think this is one of those sort of stories that needs to be read in its entirity in order to understand the point of it - so if you 'stay tuned' all will be revealed soon, hopefully! In the meantime, I'd like to thank you for taking the trouble to review - I really, really appreciate it & hope that you won't be disappointed with what's to come :-)
You... you KILLED him? Just like THAT??
Response from Sevvy (Author of Don't Stand So Close)
Yeah, it was easier than I thought, I'm afraid - so sorry about that!I hope you will continue to read though - I really appreciate you reviewing. Thanks so much! :-)
Sevvy, for Merlin's sake!! I did not expect HIS death!! Not that suddenly, anyway. I'm shocked!... his voice almost betraying a tenderness he would normally have taken great pains in trying to hide ...Beautiful lines like this one make up for the shock, though. You paint beautiful pictures!Fingers crossed that the next chapter is up before I go on vacation! /M
Response from Sevvy (Author of Don't Stand So Close)
Yay - I've managed to shock you! (And before I've even had my breakfast this morning - can't be bad!)Chapter 4 is in the queue as we speak, to be followed on by the Epilogue - so should all be happening quite soon I hope! And my own take on SS (as you probably know) is that he actually really is a tender, gentle man under that stern exterior. (Why else would he have still felt the way he did about Lily after all those years - even if it was only thinly disguised guilt in truth.)Thanks for staying loyal to this story. I know you'll always have something to say & I really do appreciate it! :-)
