Mostly Harmless! Though I have to admit, I'm even stranger than I appear. ;-) There's a pile of unbeta'd stuff on my LJ (dracfic) if you're interested in Raw, Untamed, fanfic.
Believe it or not, "How Argus Filch Got Wild, Got Laid, and Got His Magic" has been rec'ed by Know It Alls! It's true! They gave me this pretty lil' ribbon and everything! And in March 2007, they saw fit to likewise reccommend (as an antidote to angst) the story that started it all, 'Courtesy of Your Fairy God-Jarvey'--just in time for the first anniversary of that story's posting! *hugs Harm*
(I also have to admit that 'mostly harmless' may not be the most apt description of a member of the Mad Chatters...)
Finally, I just have to say... Storyville. If you were there, you know what I mean.Reviews for The Lesson At Hand
I love that it is Albus Severus who asks.

Thank you! I liked the middle perspective for this one.
i love how thats scared on his hand. i was pissed the way they handled that in the movie- totally ruins it for that book and more importantly the scene in in the next book.

Thank you! I always figure that's what we have fanfic & fanart for-to patch the cracks in the books & films. :)
Oh, wow - that was excellent. It never occurred to me that Harry might want to cover those scars, but I can see why he might. I can also see him keeping them, even if they could be removed, for just the reason you mention. Good writing and GREAT characterization. Thank you for posting this, Cat

*bows* Thank you kindly for taking the time to let me know that I'd accomplished exactly what I'd hoped for with this story. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
lovely little scene! Thanks for your hard work!

Thank you, for taking the time to review!
very effective. and affecting. i never really thought about those scars remaining, but i doubt i'll ever forget about them again. well done.

Thank you very much! I think that many people assume that the words disappeared somehow, but that seems unlikely to me, given the vicious nature of the Blood Quill. They just lingered in my mind until I wondered how Harry would end up explaining them...
Strange, isn't it, how a torturer got the exact opposite of the desired effect: to silence the truth. But the motto "I must not tell lies" includes lies of omission, and Harry learned not to tolerate that kind either. Good story, and it draws a wise conclusion.

Thank you most kindly! I very much wanted to get at what I thought was the meaning inherent in the overlooked scars.
I absolutley agree with Severely Lupine! those scars would be the worst. And to know you got such a damning statement cut into your hand becasue you told the truth, wow, that would burn itself into one's soul, wouldn't it? Very touching.

Yes, I thought so--the idea of those scars really sticks with me, more than the lightning bolt. Thank you so much for reviewing!
Can imagine Harry thinking that. :)

Oh, wow. That's so wonderful. It's easy to remember Harry's forehead scar, but I think most people tend to forget about those, though I think for me, if I were him, those would be the worst.
Author's Response: I've always wondered why those words receive so little notice from the fanfiction community (and even in the subsequent books). I think a lot of people assume that they went away, but given the nature of the Blood Quill, it seems unlikely.
Thank you very much for reviewing!
