Ronald Weasley had done a lot of things for his wife that he thought he would never, ever do. Inviting Severus Snape into their bed had been the last in a long list of lines he’d crossed.

I am a writer and editor in real life who likes to read, write and beta fanfic in this life...so basically, for me, it's all about the story!
Tell me a good story and I'll be your friend for life, tell me you love my stories and I'll more then likely squee all over you!

A lovely story, beautifully told. Thank you so very much.

Thank you!
Wow, this was such a sweet story! I love Ron coming alive in this, figuring out his passion in life and opening his heart so wide. It's beautiful! Thanks for writing such a creative take on the characters. I'm not usually a Ron fan in the least, but he was my favorite part the whole story.

Thank you so much! Severus is my favorite character to explore, followed closely by a post-series Ron. When I'm given the oppurtunity to do that for both in the same fic? I get pretty ridiculously excited!I'm glad you've given my Ron a chance. :))

That was so much better than a summary could lead one to believe. Thank you for that!!!
Response from tjwritter (Author of Lines in Shifting Sand)
Thank you!And haha summaries will NEVER be my forte, sadly...

You know, I didn't actually even see your summary. I read someone else's and clicked their link. They said that they wouldn't normally EVER want to read a HGSS threesome that included Ron (and I secretly agreed), but the recommended it, anyway. My curiosity got the better of me and I'm glad it did. :)

I thought this was gently and tastefully done. Thank you for giving Snape something positive, he gets too much crap.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Giving Severus happy endings is one of my favorite things.
^____________^ definately going down as one of my favorite stories. i just adoresnape/ron pleasent interaction and there is alwaysone fic that comes to mind . i cant remeber the name but in it snape and harry switch bodies, snape has to live as harry and falling for hermione meanwhile. in that fic snape and ron get this friendship and i cant every recall seeing it again to my like so much as is here. i like the flow the most and how the actions lead into one another.i like how taking care of snape was kept a secret between hermione and ron only throughout.“Great, so a rickety house, just me, Snape and Kreacher. Life just gets better and better. Why don’t you see if Gwarp and Buckbeak want to shack up here too?” best line.truely enjoyable.

Oh thank you! I LOVE Ron and Snape sorting themselves together! It's one of my favorite things! That story sounds awesome and if you ever think of the title, please do let me know! Here's another Ron/Snape for you in return:http://thetreacletart.livejournal.com/34931.htmlHer story is amazing and is responsible for giving me the idea of Ron taking care of Severus.
Though I'm usualy not big on Ron/Hermione in general...I absolutly love, love, LOVE your style. I bow my head and send many shiny stars your way :)You just made my day and I thank you for this gem of a story.

Thank you so much! This review made MY day!
amazing, absolutely amazing. even tho i am the founding member of the abr (anybody but ron) club and am not into threesomes, that seemed so right and natural. thanks so much
Response from tjwritter (Author of Lines in Shifting Sand)
ABR Club? Wow, I didn't even know such a club existed! Then I am doubly honored that you took a chance on this story and humbled that you enjoyed it!Thanks for reading and commenting!
You're an excellent writer. I actually identified with Ron, who I normally hate! You also managed to address the reader without being cheesey, condescending, or infantile. Congrats. j/k!I liked Severus' gentler humor--or was it just Ron's way of deflecting it that made it seem that way.Hermione felt a bit underdeveloped, but I think that couldn't be helped with your choice to tell the tale from Ron's perspective. I found it strange that Ron directed Severus's touch of Hermione while they were making love. Was he still so weak that he couldn't do that on his own? It felt as if Ron was offering her up to Severus--which was a disturbing dynamic. I would have liked to see more physical affection expressed between Ron and Severus...that their homophobia would not stifle expression of their emotional affection for one and other.

Awwww, thank you so much! The narrative voice in this piece was fun to play with. And yes, despite the fact that Severus and Ron are my favorite characters to write about, it also had to focus more on them then Hermione as theirs was the relationship that needed to be developed for this whole story to work. Also, believe me, if I hadn't been writing this for a gift exchange--a het exchange none the less--the sex scene might have been very different. I sorta ship Severus and Ron more then S/Hr or R/Hr But also, for Ron it was about healing Snape not offering up his wife.
Hello, TamelaThank you for sharing this lovely story! I'm tired of the common Ron bashing and you certainly give him an interesting and deep character. Three adults have deciced on a relationship and sex is - so far - not the most important element of it. I approve the open ending, too. In this way, the story will continue in our minds. I'd like to read more from you :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed the story! I could never bash Ron ever and can barely read stories where he is. He and Severus are my favorite characters and I loved this rare oppurtunity to write about both of them at the same time.
While I had some misgivings regarding the topic and that Hermione and Ron were the couple, rather than Hermione and Severus, I really liked it. Your depth of characterisation was fantastic and allowed for Ron's and Severus's personal growth. It also made the plot more believeable. I also really liked the direct form of address to the reader. The paralell to LOTR was a nice touch. Thanks for writing a story that I found most enjoyable to read. Cheers.

Thank you for taking a risk on this odd group of characters! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Love the author's commentary through the piece. :)

Thank you! That was the funnest part to play around with!
Oh, this was absolutely lovely. It's rare to read such a mature and well-characterized Ron. The growth was wonderfully written. Well done!

Aww =] I REALLY enjoyed this x3 I was covering my mouth, squee'ing and repeatedly saying that I couldn't finish it when it came to the sex parts, but I did it! I loved it!
Response from tjwritter (Author of Lines in Shifting Sand)
Oh! Thank you so much for reading and for your kind words! I'm glad you didn't let the sex parts stop you!<3 x3 too!
Beautiful story. I love that Ron is finding his place in the world and that Snape is a part of that growth. As titallating a 3some is described, I found the connection with the progress and understanding more beautiful.

This is my second read of this sweet little story. I am not a big Ron fan (for some reason I can never see him grown, like Peter Pan). I am a die hard SS/Hg shipper and only do menage stories that feature those two as the "base" relationship. This story helped me to appreciate Ron as the adult I have a hard time seeing him as. Severus was just snarky enough to be in character and never veered too much into the occ realm. I love the by play between R and S in that Ron never lost his cool and was able to match wits with Severus, hermione was a bit under done, but as a reviewer said it was really about the two men... Anyway great story!!! I am sure I will visit this one again!!
Response from tjwritter (Author of Lines in Shifting Sand)
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it... again. :))I occasionally toy with the idea of playing with this story again now that my appreciation and understanding of Hermione has expanded, because you are right, she is under done here. But I just love Ron and Severus so much...

I would love to read a continuation of the story...I love a good triad story!!

Wonderful! When I saw "Menage-a-Trois" in the warnings, I expected something PWP-ish.Frankly, I didn't think that you could pull off putting Ron Weasley and Severus Snape in one bed, literally or metaphorically. You've done marvelously! Your fic is psychologically believable, full of true emotions, beautifully written and very sexy, despite - because? -not being explicit. What's more, you've created a truly brilliant Ronald Weasley - a character that undeservedly gets a short end of stick in canon and fanon alike.I truly like Ron. Unfortunately, I "ship" Hermione with other characters, which means I get to read him depicted as dumb, mean or, at best (sic!), deceased. Your fic was a great gift - to Ron, and me!Thank you so much!

Sorry, I have tried to respond to this review many times and my computer seems to hate me sometimes!Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. It means alot to me that Snape/Hermione peeps have given this a chance!I know what you mean about Ron portrayals in Snape/Hermione. I see it from the other side as I ship Ron with just about everyone (even sometimes Hermione--eek!) so I've seen some unflattering things about Hermione as well...not my favorite thing!Anyway, thanks again!
Was this posted on LJ? I know I have read it before. Its really a beautiful peice. I like Ron's POV and the way you have portrayed him. Well done
Response from tjwritter (Author of Lines in Shifting Sand)
HAHAHA! Yeah, it was there...and you were very nice to it! You probably didn't recognize it right away as it was missing all those lovely, lovely mistakes and spelling and grammar errors! Yikes!
This is one of the best fanfics I've read, and I have read plenty. I love that your focus was on Ron finding his purpose in life. I even bow to your epilogue-less ending!
