Darkness is where he belonged. It welcomed him openly, without judgement, without fear; unlike any other, save her. She, the beacon in his blackened existence, deserved not the pain about to be bestowed upon her kind soul. HG/SS oneshot. Disregard HBP and DH.

Reviews for Mired in Sorrow
You seem to have chose your penname quite wisely. Myromantic nature fight against thoughts such as his last ones. But I suppose to truly appreciate sunlight and daisies you must know the darkness first.Anyway, you paint very realistically all those horrible feelings I usually dread. Bravo.

Thank you for the lovely review! I am very pleased to know that you enjoyed this story, as I very much enjoyed writing. I am also quite happy to know that it was seen to be realistically written, I was hoping to stay true to Snape's character. Thanks again for taking the time to review! :)
Very sad in a well written way. How did they discover their feelings for each other? Any chance for a prequel? Well done. Looking forward to reading more of your work.

A prequel eh? I dunno, maybe. Thank you very much for the excellent review, and I will certainly keep in mind the option or writing either a prequel or a sequel. Thanks again! :)
It seems to odd to say it, given the subject matter, but that was nice.

Oh! Poor Severus, poor Hermione. I can see why he delayed going home....a well written, sad story.

aww thank you for reviewing! I'm glad you liked this story! :)
I really liked the insight you gave us into Snape's mind in this story. I can imagine him feeling this way and blaming himself. His feelings for Hermione were also depicted in a heartfelt-but-still-Snapeish kind of way. Thanks for the story.

Thank you very much for the lovely review! I'm glad you feel that I've kept Severus in canon and realistic. Severus is honestly one of the most fun characters to write about because he's just so complex, not to mention he's got that insane guilt complex that is just so much fun to play with! Anyways, thank you for taking the time to review, I appreciate the thoughtful comments :)
This is wonderful, in a rather gut-wrenching manner. When they touch, which will overpower the other light or darkness? Beautifully done.

Thank you for such a thoughtful and lovely review! I'm very happy to know that you enjoyed this story. I imagine that when they do touch and meet, the light and darkness will integrate and we'll end up with a lovely shade of grey. I doubt that the light could ever completely overpower the dark where Severus is concerned, but I don't think that's neccessarily a bad thing. Anyways, thanks again for taking the time to review :)
Such a beautiful and sad story.

Severus, pluck up, things will get better. Oh, the poor dears.
Response from DarkFate (Author of Mired in Sorrow)
Yes, poor Sev, always the bearer of bad news. Poor man. Thanks again for the review! I see you're making your way through my fics; I'm very happy to see that! Thanks for all the wonderful reviews!
Once again the sadness is palpable, but it is well written and gives us good insight into what life for Severus must have been like as he played his part to defeat the darkness.
