Right. I would like to state, for the record, that I WILL finish "She Married Her Choice". I will. Assuming I am in control of my own destiny and accomplishments, that is. ;-)
Unfortunately, real life (mainly an attention craving three-year-old) and inspiration have been keeping me from creative endeavors for a while now. I do foresee a time when that shall pass, but until then, I ask for your patience.
Thank you!
Reviews for A Letter by Snape
The first chapter was so difficult to read, him pouring out his thoughts, and those thoughts very true to the character. Then the second chapter - 'her light was gone, oh no, it cannot be! Very good short story, even if it's sad.
Oh my goodness...my imagination is running wild! If this wasn't fiction, i am sure her reaction would be surprise-shock-empathy-love with a hunger to go beyond tbe veil & find her professor to share "always". What a beautiful fic from such a unique perspective.

a sad but special writing of SS 's real mind before 2 nd war!
Curiousity got the better of me, and naturally, I read the Epilogue. I'm sorry I did. Even though the actual Letter was sad, it still ended with hope. He expressed his feelings which allowed him to go into battle having cleared his mind and heart. It was uplifting to know he had managed to do this for himself. And then in the Epilogue, in a mere few sentences, all that hope, the cleansing, is torn away and stomped on by the big ugly boot of darkness.

Remember that's just one possibility. It was the darkest of the possibilities that I envisioned, but not the only one. (No, I am not going to write any of the other ones. I thought the story was complete as it was without the epilogue.)I thought you were into dark stuff, though...
Response from Darque Hart (Reviewer)
Hi! I'll admit I do rather like the darker stories ... but I still like to see Severus get what he wants, be it light or dark. The man deserves a break once in a while.I agree with you. The story is much better as just the one-shot. It's not one of those dreadful cliff-hangers a lot of authors like, but rather lets the imagination come to it's own conclusions. By adding the Epilogue, it leads the reader to that specific conclusion. Regardless, both are great bits of writing as you manage so much with so few words.
Well, I'm one of those who, I believe, will just pretend that this portion does not exist and that the letter itself was the only thing. LOL. The letter is very poignant. Whether it was charmed only to show after his soul had left his body, or if it was accidentally discovered by her although he had lived, or even as you have where he lived and destroyed it before she could see it, it is a very poignant letter. Sad. More so with the way you have this second part. Sad that he rather wished he hadn't lived and tossed the letter into the fire. Very sad, indeed.
That, my dear, was a one-two punch.
I loved the letter. It was honest and cantankerous and didn't slip towards overly sentimental, really. I thought you executed it very well.
The epilogue - that Severus lived and Hermione didn't? It was brilliant. I want MOAR, but what else could there possibly be other than his further descent into darkness.
Thank you for such a great story.
What a fool. He should have sent it to her. It could have changed everything. Now he will never know how she truely felt. She might only be with Ronnikin because thats all she thought she could get. Oh well still a great chapter. Well written.
Lovely letter. Does he send it or leaves it somewhere for her or not at all?
Her light was gone nowAre you saying that Hermione died in the final battle? Oh the pain and suffering! You do have a dark side dont you?
What a heartfelt letter Severus wrote. I wonder if Hermione had any inkling at all of his feelings? All the more tragic if she did not.

Yes, I think that's exactly how it would have ended up. :( Great job on both of these, though!
I read the epilogue and thought it might have been Hermione finding it on Snape's person after he dies and reading it. Oh well...But the letter itself was lovely and beautifully written and something I can imagine Snape doing!

Another, less sad, ending I thought of (and a way to extend a story I promised myself I wouldn't extend) is that the letter was read by neither. It was found in a field, or house, by someone, and it turns out both did survive, and, well, romance ensues. Might write it after all, but not until I finish the monster I've created in She Married Her Choice.
Cheers!
You bastard, give her that shit !

*snerk* Thanks.
Awwww that was ...sweet. Bittersweet. It actually made me have a few tears in my eyes....
Keep on writing and I'll keep on readin!

Thank you!
Ok, dang... so he never sent the letter. Her light was gone? So she died while he didn't, but he is now taking his own life? I always try to read into stuff, huh?
Response from averygoodun (Author of A Letter by Snape)
Not necessarily taking his own life, just descending into the darkness (which to my mind is worse than simply dying). But if you see it as suicide, then that's a valid view... It's the reading into stuff that's the fun part, I think (for the most part - I still don't like Hemingway).
Oh see this is so much sadder than the letter!! No, he will get drunk it will happen, love will blossom and babies too lol!!
This doesn't surprise me, depending at which point in the story it occurred... I hope we get another one at the end of the story...
Response from averygoodun (Author of A Letter by Snape)
The story was actually finished at the end of the letter... I just wrote the epilogue as a possible explanation of what happened. Thanks!
Imagine Hermione receiving a letter like that out of the blue!!
Response from averygoodun (Author of A Letter by Snape)
In my own opinion, that would be the cruelest thing anyone could do. Yes, very flattering, but GOd, I would hate living with that. But maybe Hermione would react differently... don't know. Thanks.
This is a beautiful letter. It seems very like Snape to never admit it while living, and to understand they may not have the most healthy of relationships. I look forward to the epilogue.GG
Response from averygoodun (Author of A Letter by Snape)
Thank you. The epilogue is very short (100 words), just to warn you.
Very beautiful... and sad, yet I've really enjoyed it. You've captured his voice well. cheers

Thank you.
Dude! Just let me wipe a lone tear from my keyboard... that was beautiful! Moving, angsty, tragic... fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahem.... will that new fic that centers around this letter w/o the current ending have a more happy ending? (hopeful....) You pack a lot of emotional wallop in such a few words!!
Response from averygoodun (Author of A Letter by Snape)
Not sure. Probably, in a way. I really want to write it and see where it goes, though, before making any promises. Thank you!
A knife in the gut. Thank you for the story.
