Father Christmas is drunk, and that on Christmas Eve. Naturally, someone has to take his place, because without Christmas, the world will drown in darkness.

Reviews for Without Christmas...
Hehe, love it. It's hilarious reading this, seeing what the grumpy man grumbles about as he's busy delivering everything. Very cute story!

Thank you!
This was lovely. My husband is an avid Terry Pratchett fan. When we met, I read Small Gods, his favorite, to get his attention.
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
I love Pratchett and am very glad you liked this story. Special regards to your hubby, and thanks for reviewing!

very lovely story . Severus deserved this kind of happiness.

Oh, how good of Severus to take over this duty, particularly as it seems to be so unwanted! And so nice that he get's his reward for it, too. Lovely story, great for putting one in the christmas spirit.
Author's Response: HI, there!
Snape and duty go well together, don't you think? He does what has to be done whether he likes it or not. Luckily, he tends to bump into the right person to help him, at least in fandom ;-)
Thanks for reviewing, dear!
to credit the hogfather at the end--ethical, but you let me down! I thought you thought up the whole thing yourself! but it is fabulous and I like it a lot. I don't generally like the christmas fics; they're kinda sappy usually. but this one is very nice. I'd like to know about the day after...and the day after that...and what did hermione's nephew think when he woke up?
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
Uh, caught red-handed! I hereby confess that I often nick ideas, either from books or other fanfics, or songs, even. This one though was very close to sth that actually exists, so I am very sorry for having disapointed you ;-)Hermione's nephew - I did forget about him, totally. I guess he find's the pirate ship, and only vaguely wonders why Hermione isn't home ;-)Thanks for revieiwng, and have a lovely new year!
Delightful! I loved your grumpy Severus who has been trapped into doing yet another unwanted and difficult job. Hermione proved herself to be a brave Gryffindor and showed him the job doesn't have to be completely unpleasant. Hermione's gift was perfect as Severus needs to know someone would care enough to spend a great deal of time and effort to make him comfortable and warm. Severus chose an equally thoughtful gift for Hermione. This was a lovely little holiday treat for all your readers. Thank you for all the wonderful treats your stories have given us this past year. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and I wish you the happiest of New Years.
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
My Christmas was nice and peaceful, as it should be. I re-read Hogfather, one of my favourites from Pratchett. Thank you so much for reading this silly little story - the plot bunny bit me early this year, and I was eager to finally write and post it. BTW, in the original version, Snape didn't give Hermione a gift at all. Only because of my beta, Dreamy_Dragon, I changed it, and I owe her more than I can ever say for her input and the effort she puts into my stories. So I am very glad you liked the slide ;-)Have a very good new year, too!
I read this on Christmas night, and what a perfect way to end the day. Severus does indeed seem very much a Pratchett character, especially when pressed into Christmas delivery service. How nice that he now has a helpmate. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
Thank you for reading this on such a special night, dear. When I read Hogfather nearly a year ago, I couldn't help to think about Snape, being forced to wear the red cap and coat ;-))I hope you had a lovely Christmas, and I wish you a very happy new year.
this one gave me the warm fuzzies. the perfect christmas story.
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
Thank you so much, my dear! Hope you had a nice feast, and I do wish you a very Happy New year!
After I read one of your stories, I kind of have to jolt myself back to reality. You do such a wonderful job that I feel like I'm actually seeing the events you describe. Well done and Merry Christmas.
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
That is one of the most wonderful compliments I ever received for my stories, and I want to thank you full-heartedly for it. I love writing, and what you said means even more to me as I am not a native speaker. Hugs from Germany and a very Merry Christmas, dear, too!
What a wonderful story to start the 24th of December (which is a very busy day, as German children get their presents on the evening of that day). Thank you, and a merry Christmas to you!
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
Ah, but you did have time to go online and read the nonsense I wrote, yes? *grins*Hugs, dear, and merry Christmas and a happy new year!
This story really put me in the mood for Christmas. I think you have created a classic by writing this lovely story. In my opinion, everyone should read it!
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
Thanks so much, love! I wanted to write this story for nearly a year, as the plot bunny bit me shortly after Christmas last year. So I am glad I did it and I am glad you liked it. Hugs, and merry Christmas and a happy new year!

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, to you too! I've been around for a bit. You can find my work here on the Poetess.
Just wonderful. I loved, loved grumpy!Santa!Snape, and I loved that Hermione took the chance to accompany him - and the ending, and everything.Merry Christmas, and thanks for all the wonderful stories this year!
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
Hi!Thanks for reading and reviewing, dear. I couldn't help a bit of seasonal fluff, and for the ending, btw, you have to thank my beta and friend, Dreamy_Dragon. The original ending was quite different, but less sweet and too hastened. She complained, I changed it, and I am very glad you liked it. More stories to come next year. Hugs from Germany, merry christmas, and a happy new year!
If magical Father Christmas does grant wishes, he just granted both of Severus'! Sneaky old fart, playing drunk to get Severus to take over so that he could get Severus and Hermione together... but did it have to take him four years to do it? heheheheI enjoyed the Christmas tale very much - thank you.
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
Thanks so much - and I didn't even consider that Father Christmas might have got drunk on purpose!
lovely story. the time turner explains the whole thing. thanks so much for such a delightful christmas offereing.
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
My pleasure, dear. I was in the mood for a bit of fluff ;-)

I guess a merry Snape would have been very much OOC ;-)Merry Christmas to you, too!
I love all of your stories! Without Christmas... is so full of happines (even when Snape is grumpy) that it makes me smile! It's a very wonderfully written story of the Spirit of Christmas.Beth
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
*hugs you!*Thanks so much - not only for reading my stories, but for letting me know you like them, too. I wish you a very merry Christmas, dear, and promise to write more in the new year.
A wonderful Christmas story, I had a great time reading it!!!
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
Thank you, dear!
Oh, I cannot tell you how much I love everything you write! I'm running out of compliments here, so I'll just repeat myself. Wonderful as usual. Who would have thought of Snape acting as Santa. And of course, he would be no nicer! I'm glad her received two Christmas presents this year, the scarf, and Hermione in his arms.Merry Christmas!
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
Ah, well, I thought even a Snape earns a wonderful Christmas morning ;-) I must admit, I am addicted to the man, and I am grateful that you like my stories.Merry Christmas, dear!
Ohhhh, its so cute. The mental image of Santa Snape was perfectly ridiculous, but so funny! And Hermione helping him out...awww! *Gives the wonderful author some Christmas cocoa and cookies* Merry Christmas!
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
It's the season for cuteness, isn't it? Thanks so much for reviewing!*takes a sip from the cocoa and munches a cookie*Merry Christmas to you, too!
This is quite perfect:) I don't need to say anything else. Except I wish you the happiest of holidays and a terrific New Year. Your stories are a delight and brighten my day:){{hugs}}Fizzabella
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
Hi, Fizzabella!Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. I must admit, I can't stop myself - there will be a few more stories next year. A very Merry Christmas for you and your family, dear!
Oh, lovely! The time-turner you devised was brilliant, and I just loved Snape's grumpiness.
Response from chivalric (Author of Without Christmas...)
A merry Snape would have been too much, don't you think? Can you imagine how much he must have hated the fact that he has to wear red for a change?Merry Christmas, dear, and a Happy new year!
