Snape fancier, wanton researcher of the arcane and sublime, and snark mistress.
Blanket disclaimer: the Potterverse was created by J.K. Rowling -- I just like to play with her toys.

Mr. Hoopersteins? Oh my gosh, Severus has moved to Sesame Street. This is a sweet story and I am enjoying it. I look forward to more!

Right in one! You're the only one that has caught it (and commented) so far - he's the quintessential neighborhood grocer, in my mind (am I showing my age?)Thank you for the review!

Beautiful chapter! I didn't realise until now that this doesn't take place someplace in Britain, but in America.
Author's Response: Thank you! What larger and crazier place to disappear into than the US? Any reasonably-sized city is sure to have strangers much stranger than he! (not to mention a completely integrated Wizarding population, being such a very young country made up of waves of immigrants, and all) :D
Alcina vom Steinsberg's response: *g* To be honest, being from central Europe myself, I wouldn't ever have thougt of that, but of any larger european city or even one of the capitals, such as Paris or Berlin or Vienna and so on... it's so easy to blend in there and not to attract attention, even the language wouldn't present a problem. ;o)
Poor guy, wallowing in sorrow for three days. Can't blame him, but it's time to move on. Hopefully, this will be the catalyst for good things to come.

Hehe, losing his touch, good old Severus. Suits him though.

*grin* I think so - not every child is a dunderhead, after all - even if, by his estimation, most qualify for the title, in spades. Thank you for your review!

Sounds like just the right family for him, eh?

I adore Simon, I have to admit! Thank you so much!

I enjoyed how quickly Simon got under Severus's skin and how he already has Severus wrapped round his little finger, and Severus doesn't ever realize it yet. Now I'm interested to know about the single mother who produced the child who chould charm the socks off Professor Snape.

I hope you'll like her as her story unfolds - it was very fun to map their personalities out this past summer! :) Thank you for your review! More is on the way!

Hm, I thought it being AU and the mother one of the known characters. I'm pleasantly surprised that I'm wrong. Nice continuing! :o)
I'm at a loss with the opening of this chapter, though - what does Simon refer to?
Author's Response: His name? He's named after one of the Roman 'Five Good Emperors', Marcus Aurelius. (One of my personal favorites, I have to admit!)
Author's Response: Sorry, saved before I had a chance to add: and I figured a sly reference to Simon Magus wouldn't be amiss!
Alcina vom Steinsberg's response: Sorry, I meant this: "…feekeepseeOOOmega!" - I didn't understand it, probably because I'm not a native speaker. I'm afraid Simon Magus doesn't ring a bell, too, though Marcus Aurelius does - loudly ;o):

Beautiful start into an interesting reading. I'm rather curious about how you are going to continue. This dare-thing works great here!
Author's Response: I hope you'll continue to find it interesting - and I recall more than one dare from *my* childhood (a century ago)! Thank you!
What a cute kid. And Ursula seems to be very nice too. She's at least unflappable, seeing a forty year old man accompanying her son for 'lunch.' Lol

wandering back through older stories - I've enjoyed the characterizations of this one - is it ever going to aquire more chapters?
Response from juniperus (Author of Beginning To Live)
I think so - I'd written ahead several chapters here and there, but in the interim had a bad case of life. It's not abandoned, af as I'm concerned, so I do hope to bring it to completion (even if my lofty original goals are truncated a bit in the process).
