Memory and longing and loss.

Mix them together and give them a toss.

In one moment, the future was present

The next, it was a shadow

Leaving down... down... down an obscure path.

Lips that met in a greeting kiss,

Softly sigh at what is now missed.

When joined at hello, it felt like goodbye

Everything gone in the blink of an eye.

Memories of what was, what should have been

It has all come to a bitter end.

When a strong but gentle touch

Reached out to take a smaller hand,

Dark eyes met light.

It was the end of the tunnel

The beginning of forever sight.

Merry meet, but sadly part

The smaller hand traces the line of his heart.

In the breath of a minute,

Callous words shatter the light

They break.

They fracture.

They dim the sight.

I often find myself thinking along these lines. I guess I should stop wondering what might have been and just accept what's not. Haha

Response from luvsev (Author of Memory)

Most of us can't help but wonder about what might have been--I think it is one of those things that makes us more human (for lack of a better word). I know this might sound off the wall here, but those 'could have been or should have been' moments helps to make us who we are, and thankful for what we have.

So very true.

i really like this. it's sad, but i appreciated the rhythm and the way you shift the images unexpectedly sometimes. and i really appreciate that the rhymes don't feel forced.

Thank you for reviewing my poetry; I am pleased that you liked it. I was in one of those moods to where sadness and rhythm meet in a flowing river.                                     -luvsev
