Reviews for Way Past Midnight
Hermione is so very cool! Am glad Severus was not too seriously injured as well. Dumbledore needed that talking down from someone, am glad Hermione managed to rise to the occassion. Thank you for a lovely story.

Thank you for reading this little piece of nonsense. Originally, it was much sillier, but I changed it after severe words from my beta. Glad you still liked it!
I love a strong Hermione! I really wonder about the stories where she is quivering in fear. That's not the girl we know! Cool head in a crisis, too. Thanks for rescuing this from the trash bin! Cute story.
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
So do I, dear. I can't stand her being the doormat she is described as in so many stories I've read. I like her being his equal, and sometimes, ruling his life. Like here *g*Thanks a lot for reviewing. It was very close to the bin!

great story!!! it's what we all wanted to say to him (and jkr)! thanks so much

Luckily, one of my betas kicked me - originally, this was a parody and Dumbledore OOC. The end was different, but I must admit, I like it better this way. Dumbledore needs a punch on the nose for what he's done to Snape ;-)Again - thanks for reviewing!

I would have love to read more. It's a sad you didn't further the fic even if I like it as it stands now.

I think this is one of the very few stories I won't write a sequel for. Althoug... don't blame me if I change my mind ;-)Thanks a lot for reading, liking, and reviewing!

Brilliant, it was fantastic to see Severus loved and protected by Hermione like this.
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
Thank you so very much! I am so glad you liked this story, I really wasn't sure if I should post it. And doesn't she always protect him?

First of all, I had to laugh at the difference in what Severus told Hermione about his encounter with the Muggle bandit:...he told her about the boy. "Stupid, he was," he complained. "Went after my wand. So I just pushed him out of the way. Didn't want to stun him; he was only a Muggle."and what REALLY happened:Bullet, he mused. Gun. Damn boy. Good that I hexed him before getting away. He won't hold a gun for a while as a frog, that's certain. It's clear that, before he'd realized what had really happened, he hadn't wanted to say anything that might upset her about his treatment, no matter how deserving, of a Muggle. It was wonderful to see Hermione giving Dumbledore an earful for the way he'd treated Severus. The Lioness of Gryffindor will defend those whom she loves with all her considerable "talents." Good for her.Snape is a very lucky wizard, and Hermione is a lucky witch!! I'm looking forward to reading about Dumbledore's apology to Severus. With her mind made up, he won't be able to wiggle out of it!!!I'm so happy you decided to post this!!!Beth

You know, I didn't even think about it that way. The words, back then, just tumbled out of my fingers and then I abandoned the story for nearly a year. Now I am really glad that I posted it - many thanks to my betas for telling me to do so, btw - and I am grinning widely that I get such lovely reviews like yours. I am totally with you - she defends the ones she loves, and in my world, she always loves Severus. Thanks for your review and hugs from Germany, dear!

That twisted and turned in an unexpected way. I'm always up for a good yell at Dumbledore. Lol. Hopefully, he'll apologize, not that it will be worth much. What's done is done, and Severus has to live with it. I liked the new Hermione. She's definitely not someone I would want to get on the wrong side of.
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
The new Hermione? What do you mean with that? It's been a while since I've read the books, but wasn't she always a bit bossy? Agree with you that an apology won't change a thing. But it is necessary nevertheless ;-)Thanks for reviewing!
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
She was always very bossy, but she'd never speak to a professor like that. She finally got the backbone to tell off someone in authority.
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
Got your point. Well, she's worried, and she loves him. I guess she would make a deal with the devil for him ;-)

Nice story. Shirt sounded good!
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
*g* I liked the picture of her running through the castle with his shirt on, her bare bottom occasionally being revealed.Hmm. I might be a pervert. Or a voyeur. *smirk*Thanks for reviewing, dear!

I can totally picture Hermione running through the castle in a black shirt. brilliant!
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
Thank you so much for that one, dear! Someone scolded me badly for this picture, called it OOC and considered it as something she'd never do. I had to disagree - she would run through Hogwarts naked if Severus's life was at stake. And so I've left the scene in.Hugs from Germany, dear, and more soon via mail.

Nice one. It always gives me a warm glow when someone gives Dumbledore a much needed talking to. Good little fic. I'm actually surprised more wizards aren't shot by muggles, given their attire and strange mannerisms.
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
*lol* Haven't thought about that - you are right, of course! They behave so strangely and are so arrogant and well, now I know why there are so many frogs around in my area ;-)Thanks a lot for reviewing!

Loved it. Stong, snarky Hermione giving Dumbledore great telling off. You have brought a smile to my face that will last all day. Many thanks

Thank you so much for letting me know I made you smile. That is the sole intention for my attempts of writing - to cause emotions, mainly a smile or even lauhter. Again: thanks!

i liked her explaining about the gunshot wound to the clueless wizards, and i enjoyed dumbledore's little comments about how severus's ill manners and bad temper were infecting her. and the comfortable closeness between severus and hermione. it's nice to think of somebody - hermione, the gryffindor lioness - caring for him and standing up to dumbledore on his behalf. :D
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
Thank you so much, dear! I'm glad you liked this fic - it was about the third or fourth I have ever written, and it's good to read that I managed to capture both of them and their relationship in a satisfying way.Hugs from Germany!

I like!!!! Canon leaves pretty much no room for doubt that Hermione is a bit on the bossy side, that she can be quite the spitfire once her fuse is lit, and that she's quick to jump to the defense of people whom she loves or respects -- which is probably why the Sorting Hat eventually decided to put her in Gryffindor rather than Ravenclaw. I can totally see Hermione responding like this!
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
Thanks for liking it - I was very close to not posting it at all...Hermione is, in my opinion, a strong woman and does everything for the ones she loves. Especially if this someone is in trouble ;-) A very Gryffindor thing to do!

Thanks for sharing this rather than dumping it! It's always good to see a nice Albus thrashing over his treatment of Severus. I loved seeing how comfortable Severus and Hermione were with one another.
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
That's why I posted it in the end - because of Dumbledore gets a real good scolding. He earns it.And in my world, Hermione and Severus are always close, always equals, always loving each other. Thanks a lot for reviewing!

That was lovely. And I like what Hermione said to Dumbledore. He deserved it and more. Will there be more?

Almost ten years after this initial posting, I'm finally seeing and reading it. And loving it! As many others have said, it's just so great to see Dumbledore get a real telling-off. I realize we in Snape-land overlook a lot of his nastiness, but I think far more fans blithely accept all of Dumbledore's actions with nary a care for how he treated all of his soldiers. But back to the fic - I do love the way you've portrayed our couple, and the way Hermione problem-solves to heal Severus.
Author's Response: One of my really early stories, and I changed it quite a bit after input from my beta. In the original, Hermione ran through the school naked in order to get help ;-) Thank you so much for finding, reading and reviewing!
Good girl! Someone needed to yell at Albus, the old goat.
Response from chivalric (Author of Way Past Midnight)
:-) Definitely!
