Reviews for Snape's Bed
I recognized the sapient pearwood right off (my son having intorduced me to Terry Prachet) and I think it's a great extrapolation of that overprotective 'tourist' trunk! A very moving piece. I loved it!
Response from chivalric (Author of Snape's Bed)
*gins widely* I simply love Pratchett, and as the story was supposed to be a bit more cheerful, I considered the wood perfect for Snape's bed. In the end, it became a sad story in some ways, but the bed insisted it was made of sapient pearwood, so I kept it in. Thanks for having taken your son's recommendation, and thanks for reviewing, too!

congrats my dear. i'm so glad to see that others found the story as compelling as i did. this story may be my absolute favorite if yours. for me snape's bed will always be the mother that protected him when his own wouldn't.

Thanks and hugs, dear! I was deeply surprised that this story went down so well, I owe that to you as well as to my other betas for correcting my many mistakes. A bed as a mother - who would have thought so ;-)

Loved how you worked both prompts into your story. Your story was really good, I liked it. Look forward to reading more of your work.

Simultaneously creepy and touching - an amazing story. I've chosen Hermione and Remus for his witch and wizard, but who knows...

I didn't give names so everyone could fill in their own phantasies, but I am with you. Hermione and Remus. Definitely! Thanks for reviewing - and I know it's creepy ;-)

a bed for a lifteime and a life-safer. what a genuin story.yes, I like the way the bed tells she story of Snapes life.and death. and rebirth.quiet, without much ado. but proud about "his boy" and absolutely full of love and magic to the brim.the back to life scene was a bit creepy, creeping down the skin to his veins really.but I found the idea of shielding all that was harm and bad and hurt and dark under a veil and bringing back the light and love and all the good memories to his mind, letting it flow in his blood. yes.a healing thing to do.thank you

Thank you so much for your lovely review. Funny that you refer to the bed as "him", because one of my beta considered it a "her". I myself tend to believe it is more male than female, but then, who cares? It only counts that the bed is loving and caring and doesn't allow harm to come upon Severus. At least, not for long.

Wow! This is a wonderful, original fulfilment of your two chosen prompts! I am so moved by this. I was so touched by the bed's tale. Even if you hadn't brought him back to life, it would have been a wonderful story. Excellent, well thought out, and well written
Response from chivalric (Author of Snape's Bed)
Thank you so very much! And I couldn't stop when he was dead. The bed insisted he got saved, so I wrote it down ;-)

This is a very beautiful fic. I cried, a few times (and I had to stop reading this too, because I obviously cannot let other people see me cry ... I'm at work, damn it!) but it was worth it all the same. I love this very very much! The way you play with words and the suspense when the bed heal his wound and how it brought him back to life - is was full of suspenseful moments! I remember when I was halfway through this, I said that I would need smut after this, lotsa smut of him. But now, it's not necessary, this story ended beautifully. Thank you. I love it when you put how untrustworthy DD was - I'm not fond of that old man as well. I love it when you naughtily inserted the hint of threesome (now who is this other wizard might be, I wonder ... hmm ... ;)), and of course, I love it when you made it SS/HG at the end. I love it all!! I'm going to save this under my 'A Must Read' folder I keep.Well done. :D

Hmmm, my stories very much like to be kept in Must read folders ;-)))Thank you for your lovely review! I never expected this story to be that well liked; I considered it too strange and too sad. Well, I'm glad I was wrong there! The other wizard... now that is up to you. In my beloved beta's world, it is Lucius Malfoy. In mine, it isn't. I might have given a hint of his identity in the story, but still, he is who you like him to be. Same goes for her - it could be Hermione (it is in my world) but I deliberately didn't name her. Thanks again for reviewing!

I really liked this. I couldn't believe how the bed revived him - but I was cheering all the way. Well done.

Couldn't believe as in... not described well enough? Not convincing enough? Or as in unexpected turn of story? I'd prefer the latter, naturally *lol*Thanks for reviewing - and the bed insists that this is how it happened. Really!

Absolutely the later!

I can't help but wonder who the man was in his bed - Lucius perhaps?? It's jsut one of those niggling thoughts and certainly not what stood out in this story. This was lovely and emotional and 'realistic' - as far as a magical bed could be realistic. I loved it.
Response from chivalric (Author of Snape's Bed)
In my beta's world it is definitely Lucius, in my world someone else. I deliberately named neither him nor her so everyone can figure it out to his or her own liking...Thank you very much for reviewing - and as we talk about wizards and witches here quite earnestly, I consider the bed very realistic ;-)

It's a very good story. I love the way you characterized the bed and its "love" for Snape. Pity it was the only one who seemed to care when he "died." Good good work. :)
Response from chivalric (Author of Snape's Bed)
I wanted to keep this as close to canon as possible, and there, no one cared. I didn't like it when I read it, I don't like it now, a year later. He needs and earns someone who's there for him, and if it's only a bed ;-)Thanks for reviewing!

Dude, I am crying buckets over here. It's a good job those last few paragraphs were there or I might have drowned my computer! Excellent fic. Seriously excellent!!!!! It's just a shame the ratings only go as high as five.

This is a beautiful story about the resurrection of Severus Snape. I've always been disappointed with the end JKR gave him in DH, and I'm so happy you listened to The Bed and told the story of his happy life after the death of Voldermort. Well done!Beth
Response from chivalric (Author of Snape's Bed)
Thank you so much - and I agree that he needs someone who cares for him. First his grandfather, then the bed, in the end his lovers. Indeed a happy life, finally, after an eternity of unhappyness.

That was beautiful. Im glad we know who he ended up with, but dont dig the slash so much. Oh well. I really thought the magic of the sentient bed was ingenious. Especialy as, being wood, it has not ever died yet. Poor SS really got the shirty end of the stick. I think that is the biggest regret and mistake in DH. The man deserved a life of happiness after years of atonement. Thank Gods for fanfiction, where Severus Snape will never die!
Response from chivalric (Author of Snape's Bed)
If someone told me today Snape's dead, I simply would say "No, he isn't." He was saved so often in so many different ways, it is more real than canon to me. And I admit that I have a thing for slash ;-) It is only a small paragraph here, though...Thanks for reading, liking, and reviewing!

What a beautiful tale. To think of one's bed protecting us and loving us through life. I wish you would continue this on to when Severus meets his final reward for we must all eventually die and I now would love to know his bed's perspective when he is old and grey having lived the rest of his life being loved and surrounded by those who love him both human and wood. Beautiful. Irish
Response from chivalric (Author of Snape's Bed)
Hi, Irish,I didn't think of that - what the bed would feel when he dies for a second time. But I guess it would be there fore him, would ease his pain if he suffers and make it easy for him to cross the veil. I although believe that a part of him, his memories, stay with the bed, soothing the ones who have to stay behind. His wife would feel closer to him, sleeping in his bed even after he's gone. Gods, I dislike thinking of him dying :-)Thanks a lot for reviewing!
Response from irishredlass (Reviewer)
Think about it. I think this has sequel written all over it. I have read very few stories that have gripped my mind so tightly. I found myself thinking about Bed when I was at work. Maybe Severus figured out how magical his bed was and decided to reward it by buying it new bedding of buttery soft egyptian cotton. Were all of his children first laid to rest on this bed at their birth so they too could bond with Bed?Again I absolutely love this story!

I love Snape! I love the way this portrays him! Which is real. Good job! Bravo! Snape is the best character in HP by far I think. I love fanfic!
Author's Response: I must admit, I love him, too ;-) Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Hmm, an odd story (i also figured out would be some naughty bits), but an interesting one. I like to think that his Grandpa had once shown him tall love, since no one else really ever did.
Response from chivalric (Author of Snape's Bed)
One of the few stories I kind of did not write myself, but simply protocolled as the bed told me to write it. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Beautiful! I have tears in my eyes.
