Mostly Harmless! Though I have to admit, I'm even stranger than I appear. ;-) There's a pile of unbeta'd stuff on my LJ (dracfic) if you're interested in Raw, Untamed, fanfic.
Believe it or not, "How Argus Filch Got Wild, Got Laid, and Got His Magic" has been rec'ed by Know It Alls! It's true! They gave me this pretty lil' ribbon and everything! And in March 2007, they saw fit to likewise reccommend (as an antidote to angst) the story that started it all, 'Courtesy of Your Fairy God-Jarvey'--just in time for the first anniversary of that story's posting! *hugs Harm*
(I also have to admit that 'mostly harmless' may not be the most apt description of a member of the Mad Chatters...)
Finally, I just have to say... Storyville. If you were there, you know what I mean.Reviews for In Gratitude
I love those three children. They're kind enough to give such a thoughtful present to a ghost, alomost a stranger as if was some loving grandfather who give them candies and helped them hide their mischiefs. They were being well raised.

Thank you kindly! I've quite fallen in love with these three, myself, (and I'm beginning to get to know Hugo, who also seems to be shaping up into a very decent fellow). I strongly suspect that the Professor won't be able to stay a stranger forever, the way they keep working their way into his afterlife!I like to operate on the hope that their parents were able to learn from their own mistakes--and others'--to do the best they could by their kids. :)

The new Hogwarts' trio are just too adorable. I'm really enjoying how you write these kids, and snarky Ghost!Snape is great! Please, play with these kids a bit more...

Thank you! I shall try to have the kiddies out to play a few more times, even if it must wait until after the Terminus convention. :D

Hi Dracontia,Just wanted to let you know that I'm really enjoying your series of Albus-Scorpius stories. I especially like the way you're writing Ghost!Snape. The stories are concise but you pack a lot into them and you have a nice light touch. This one was particularly sweet, but not to the point of sacchariniity (a word I just invented).I'm trying to decide if Snape was remined of Molly Weasly or, maybe, of Lily when Lily Jr. put her hands on her hips.RedRoo

Thank you very much! I'm glad that the sweetness was not excessive. [Ghost!Snape would doubtless have very strong words for me if it became so. :) ]
As to who little Lily resembles when she gets into 'telling off' mode, I expect that it's a little of each! LOL

Yay! I'm very glad you decided to add more to the story. The progression of Snape's emotions is very believable; I'm glad he's able to feel a bit of happiness, if, indeed, Al read the emotion correctly. And I'm glad he knew to put the potions books on top!Great work!
Response from dracontia (Author of In Gratitude)
Al is a very perceptive fellow; something suggested to him that their ghostly benefactor might have a very practical interest in Potions. :)
Thank you for reviewing--glad you enjoyed it!

Al is so smart! He is well aware of who the ghost is and is trying to make him happier. Wonderful!
Response from dracontia (Author of In Gratitude)
Al definitely has strong suspicions at this point, but being a good, cautious, strategic Slytherin, he's going to do a little more poking around before he forms a solid conclusion. Thanks very much for the review!

God, I just love this series. This one in particular brought tears to my eyes at the end. I don't know why, but I feel like thanking you... on behalf of Snape! You've given him something good here, dracontia.
Author's Response: *has a mini Lily!Squee!Moment* Thank you so much! I now feel completely content to let the kids plot-bunny me to death in their pursuit of looking after Snape. :)
So did u enjoy the Terminus convention? Was it well-run or had teething issues? Maybe they can bring it to Southeast Asia! How about a mini-essay on it hehehe :))

Here's the deal on Harry Potter conventions, as near as I can tell:The Leaky Cauldron, highly successful authorized jackal to Rowling's lion, has effectively become the only entity 'allowed' to run HP conventions--and it appears that they hold them at the HP themepark in Florida, period. For quite a while, HP Education Foundation ran conferences, one of which I attended. It was okay. While they used to have Rowling's approval, apparently the Leaky people successfully turned opinion against them and got that bit of competition shut down.Terminus was run by Narrate conferences, and produced the two absolute best HP cons I ever attended. Because Rowling et. al would barely let them use the name 'Harry Potter' to promote the conference, much less anything else about the series, they created their own magical education institute for EACH of their two incredible conferences, and sorted attendees into 4 houses. In addition to the various lecture, panels, classes, etc., they had Heads of House and a Points system which volunteers recorded by noting who participated in events from each house, and so forth. (Kohilo house victorious! w00t!) However, on account of the grief they were given running just Phoenix Rising and Terminus, they've switched over to small scale cons about women in literature. In general, it appears that as long as the books were still coming out and new films premiering, the owners of the franchise were willing to let people in various countries run conventions. As soon as they had no promotional value, they cracked down. (Even when non-Leaky cons were still countenanced, they had to have huge disclaimers all over everything to the effect that this was an educational event. Narrate actually took that seriously, and had lots of scholars giving very thoughtful analyses of the books and films.)I read a report of a recent LeakyCon and apparently there was a lot of other sci-fi/fantasy, non-HP content. So my impression is that large-scale Harry Potter conventions as an separate entity are probably kind of fading, and HP will soon just be another component of sci-fi/fantasy cons generally. The closest thing to the All-HP vibe of those early cons (like Terminus) is when a regional HP club organizes a private, not-for-profit, not widely advertised convention mostly for their members.
