Two wanderers ask for hospitality. But gifts from the gods are sometimes strange.

I liked that. It's a very different story from most I've read.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you've enjoyed it, and it's always a pleasure to get reviews for older fics.
This is absolutely beautiful. I especially love Severus's question to Hermione regarding the couple. And the spell they cast brought tears to my eyes.

I really loved the subtle beginning of the story, and the atmosphere you created. The point of views of the various villagers really help strengthen the feel of a rustic storytale. The blending of JKR's magical world and these two characters with this myth is also wonderfully done. I like the twist in the end about the boy, and the last sentence makes you wonder about various things, such as: Did he meet Severus and Hermione, and is he a wizard himself? Or is it a mysterious occurence from lingering magic that lends life to the icon? It's a great story and your highlights on the relationships between the two couples makes this an even sweeter read than the original myth itself. This is a story I would be glad to return to again and again. Thank you for posting it and I look forward to reading more of your works.

Thank you for this wonderful, perceptive review! You made me very happy. Knowing that you not only appreciated your first read, but are even willing to re-read... I think it's the best reward I can think of.Concerning Yanni, I think he's a wizard himself - a painter of magical portraits. For the rest, I left all hypotheses open, but it's quite possible he has met Severus and Hermione. The Agrafa monastery where he has been educated was, in my imagination, the "front" for a wizarding school. The original myth was a bit harsh on the old couple - they were made to relocate to a splendid but lonely temple, and they had to see their village submerged by waters. I tried to give a sweeter turn to the relationships between the old couple and the "gods", and I'm glad to know it has worked.Thank you again!
What a nice and sweet story. And the piece of art is really lovely.

Oh, I loved this story in the SSHG exchange! I'm so glad you finally posted it here.Very clever spell work to allow Severus and Hermione to bless their kind hosts. This is a lovely and intricate weaving of myth and magic. A delight from start to finish.

This is just beautiful! You've created a marvelous atmosphere in which magic . . . and love . . . can happen as though they are the most ordinary things in the world (as indeed they are!). You did a lovely job of gradually revealing the strangers through the vivid eyes of the villagers, and the ending was remarkably touching.Such a lovely melding of the worlds---even the title is brilliant. Great job!

True, I've been remiss, and you have every right to chide me! Real life has been awfully busy. But all is well that ends well... wait, let us not go into Crapilogue territory!Well, now it's available for a possible second "travelogue" quiz, if you wish so. Thank you again for your ever lovely reviews and encouragement!

I have always loved that myth, and your combining it with JKR's Wizarding world is delightful. The last sentence, showing the lad is now a wizard painter, was a great ending. This was such a neat thing to read, brilliant! Thank you very much for sharing this with us. 5 stars.

Intensely beautiful story. It's not really about SS/HG, is it? It's about so much more. And I'm guessing the artwork is... Camillo's? Surely looks like her Snape.
A second read of this brought forth even more details -- you truly gave this one a "feel." I can imagine the entire village with only a few words.
A while back you mentioned you were writing something longer (I believe I was bugging you about our Special Agents, LOL). If this was it, it was surely worth the wait. You've a very special, incredible talent.
Author's Response:
Dear Lulabelle,
You have just made me very, very, very happy. I'm deeply touched by such a generous appreciation, especially coming from a writer who is herself incredibly talented.
And you have even remembered what I had told you about interrupting Special Agents for a while! Yes, this is the longer story I was speaking of. I'm doing at the moment a Creative Cursing round-robin on GrangerSnape100, but when I'm done with it I'll get back to our Special Agents, I swear.
Thank you again! You are a wonderful person as well as a wonderful writer, and also a true Muse.
Lovely story. Given the ever-increasing volume of the HG/SS oeuvre, it's becoming more and more challenging to come up with something fresh which nobody's done before...but you've managed it. Very creative idea, bringing the ancient Greek myth of Baucis and Philemon into modern times and crossing it over with the Harry Potter universe!

What a lovely fic! Are you familiar with the area you wrote about as it certainly seemed that way. It was just the thing I needed to read as most of the fics I've read recently have been a bit angst ridden and dark.Well done.

What a lovely review! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the story and found it special.I'm familiar, not exactly with that area, but with a very similar one, that is rural Romania.Thank you again for your kind words!
