Reviews for The Godfather
Ugh. That was painful to read. I guess I expected a response like that from Severus.

Ouch. I did not see that coming. Poor Hermione! What terrible things for Snape to say, even if he is perhaps trying to protect her from himself. Wouldn't it just complicate things even more if Hermione wound up pregnant though?
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
Pregnant? Well, I guess she's enough of a big girl to take care of these things - before or after. If Muggles could invent the "morning after pill", Wizards sure have a potion for that...

Wow! That was amazing! Can't wait for the next chapter

This is great! Alwyas difficult to get HS/HP interactions post-war without being OOC, but this was definitely not. Well done!

What hurt the most is that he doesnt wont her in his word no matther does he love her or not jet enyway .I hope that Hermione care enough to try again and again no matter of embarasment and self - esteem. Exceptionaly good written chapter which make me starving for more .
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
Honestly - would you try again after such a brush-off?
Response from lora (Reviewer)
No , I should not . But that story will not bee declared as HG/SS , if there is no hope for remedy and oportunity for Severus to confes wrong. Severus is insecure , suspicion , hurt and wery lonely person exhibited a wery aggressive Hermione which is wery uncommon for her . I think he is a little amaze by her behaviour and need time for recapitulate , but he react in manner "hutr first , and then lick the wounds " . I just hope that in the end they will be together and happy.

When you want Severus to return to snarky bastard mode, you really do a job of it. Dear God. I found after reading, I didn't want to make eye-contact with anyone for a while...interesting that you've made a reader who did nothing interesting last night feel vulnerable and ashamed. I call that real talent. Excellent.

Thank you! I guess this is one of those reviews I will send to Marisol right away. But you are right - I actually felt very bad after reading this for the first time, too.

God I love this story, it leaves me breathless.

Typical Severus.. always running from his feelings. Silly Man. Lets hope he comes to his senses. Fab chapter.

I KNEW Severus was going to stuff it up. Oh, my. I really hope this can be fixed! I am sure he loves her, but is too afraid. Keep up the excellent work!

Would have been quite uncharacteristic the other way...

Well, I hope he finds solace in running her off. She should have called him a coward. When it comes to life, that is all he is: a coward who can't find it within himself to live once the two wizards who have been running his life since he was a boy are dead.
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
As she said in one of the first chapters: he is dead on the inside, too much of a coward to either live 100 % or die 100 %

*sniff* Severus is an idiot. And Hermione is a bit naive. I hope they can patch it up!
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
a bit naive? A real big lot, I'd say!

well, this chapter was excruciating to read. i suppose it stands to reason that he would react that way, given the characterization of him in this story. it is so painful that he feels that way about himself, nevermind that it makes him lash out so. ah, but the shattering of the glass at the end gives me hope that maybe he will grow tired of his lonely life.

Honestly, I don't know. Even the German version has not progressed that far.

I had a bad feeling this was coming. They fell into things too easily. It seems very "Severus" like to me to want to push her away, especially if he might notice himself enjoying her company. I'm expecting some real awkwardness for a while now until one of them is able to get through to the other. As always, I look very forward to more of this story being posted. Thank you so much for translating it!
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
Thank you for your review. As I mentioned in one of the others: even the German version of the story has not progressed past the "awkwardness" yet.
Response from cormak (Reviewer)
Oh, that isn't encouraging! lol I thought the German version was finished. I hope the original author doesn't keep everyone in suspense!

Definitely the reaction of someone who does not believe they are worthy of being loved. that is Snape through and through. I don't think I have read a fan fic that captures what I believe to be the "real" Snape as well as this one does. A deeply conflicted character as JKR has described him. He is in need of some serious self reflection and self forgiveness. I hope the events of the night before begin the process.I look forward to the next chapter. Hermione is hurting but if she keeps in character she isn't going to give up on him easily.
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
No she won't. This was the last straw for her.

Oh my gosh, I am going to die! Die! Can't believe I read this right before bed. What a terribly sad, sad chapter. Okay, so, being the hopeful, optimistic type I am, I am still hoping that things can work out for these two. But after this chapter... I don't know. I don't know if Severus-- the empty, bitter shell that he is-- could ever make Hermione happy. And Hermione, as we know, needs recognition and reinforcement. Ah, and Severus is so just empty that I quite simply don't know. But I will be here until the end. Again, and I cannot say this enough, the characterizations in this story are the best I have read. I can truly see this happening in JKR's world, so true you have stayed to character. Thank you so much for this wonderful story, both of you!

That about sums up my own reaction after I read this chapter for the first time, months ago. I felt the skin on my head prickle and got a severe "escape reflex" that made me want to shut the computer down and run because I could not stand to read such agony...

Hey nice job on this. I don't like to see Severus go completely out of character and turn all sweetness and light.
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
Sweetness? Light? Severus? Never. But what did my grandma always say: the more you have to fight for something, the more you'll appreciate it in the end. That's what I'm hoping for at the moment (the story is not finished yet, not even in German).

This story is so heartwrenching, perhaps I'm over emotional today. But, you capture his defensive nature so well, I ached for Hermione. Hopefully, all will not be lost, can't wait for the next chapter.
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
Overemotional? PMS or pregnant, dearie ;-) No, all is not lost, but 98 % of it.

That was brutal... cold.. and very Severus in every regard. I don't know if he is trying to protect her or if he is trying to protect himself... but I eagerly await the next installment. MM
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
I don't know if he knows that himself, actually.

I'm guessing he's terrified of letting her in, but then he shouldn't have raised her hopes like that. Oh, well. It was very in character for him, I believe.

Yes indeed it was.

Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Hot.I never review, I'm lazy and greedy like that, but this is excellent, and I don't just mean the lemons. It's got great character, great plot, and the translation...very nicely done.Thank you for giving us anglophones this wonderful story.

Finally, they give in to their desires.
Response from Muggline (Author of The Godfather)
oh yes. I remember when I read this for the first time in the German version, I thought "oops, what's happening?" as I thought that after the kiss in the previous chapter, there would be some snogging and nothing more. I would even have expected Severus to throw her out after five minutes, but NEVER this... But nevertheless, I like this outcome much better ;-)

So who has the right measure of him Hermione or Harry? Poor Hermione.
