I'm a 53 year old woman who wrote fanfic for years and adored doing it. While I lost the heart for fanfic after book 7 came out, I am still writing, and can be found at http://julianneqjohnson.com
You can find my published work on Amazon under the name Julianne Q Johnson.
Reviews for Unlikely Bedfellows
Still reading and enjoying it. Very nice chapter.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Thanks! :)
Finally! I was afraid Severus was gonna be all wussy (WussyGay!Severus makes me cringe). THIS is more like it - I like my Severus large *waggles eyebrows* and in charge. Man, I can't believe you villianized Kingsley! Bad author! No biscuit!
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
*giggle* Well, Kingley's dead, so he doesn't mind! ;) Hey, he's not really a villain, lust a really bad lay! :D Not to worry my dear. My Severus may have some issues to work through, he's had a rough time, but I won't let him go all wussy. Promise! Just because a fellow like to bottom, doesn't mean he can't be all pushy and demanding about it. *snicker* Thanks sweetie! It's still all your fault, you know! :D
Response from Tarah_Fae (Reviewer)
Man... you KILLED Kingsley off as well! HOW COULD YOU?! ;__; By the way... spot your Freudian slip and win a cookie.
?I may not have the vast experience that you gathered in your wicked youth, Ms. Wiggle-arse" *snort* Just too funny! It takes an angry Snape to put Minerva in her place? Brilliant chapter. I beg of you though, please, oh please, don't have Severus use the phrase 'Won-Won!' ;-?
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
This particular Snape might be a bit lost when it comes to relationships, but I do believe he would Avada Kadavra himself before he would utter the term "Won-Won". *snicker* Thanks my Wolf! You always make me smile! :)
This is the first slah fic that I have seen, which involves Snape and Ron. You are getting closer and closer to full-on slash, I see. Maybe in the next chapter? I especially liked the ending of this chapter.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Well reach the full monty soon enough! Maybe not next chapter, but definitely by the next. I had to go for the weirdest pairing, didn't I? I still say it's all Tarah_Fae's fault! *giggle* Thanks love! Glad you liked the last bit! :)
To quote Ron: 'Bloody brilliant!' (Sorry about the lame review, Pook, but you burnt out my last brain cell with that one.)
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Woot! Words are unnecessary if there are brain cells shorting out! Thanks, love! :)
I'm still not saying that I will become a slash fan but if you keep up the fantastic work I might become a Sneasley fan.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
HA! I'll make you a Sneasley convert yet! *giggle* Thanks so much! Can't get a better compliment than that! :)
** insert incoherent gibbering **
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Woot! Made you gibber! Red letter day for me! :D
I'm actually no slash fan but I decided to read this story because I loved some of your other stories very much. Now, after reading the four chapters, I guess I still won't turn into a slash fan but I have to say that the story is really good. And I very much look forward to McGonagall's reaction.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Lol, slash isn't for everyone. I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it so much. I'm terribly flattered that you are enjoying this even though you aren't a slash fan. Thanks for reading, and thanks for the kind review! :)
They bought real estate sight-unseen? That seems a bit reckless for Snape. I trust they won't discover it's underwater half the year.
Hmmm, a Snape commune. Does that mean we all can have a piece of him? Can I reserve my preferred pieces ahead of time? ;-> *starts to pull mind out of the gutter, then realizes that the gutter is better than real life and decides just to stay put* ?Harmonie? is the new term for Harry/Hermione. The Harmonites were the ones kicking up such a fuss over on Mugglenet (which I usually avoid like the plague) after JKR didn?t bow to their wished and confirm their ?ship in HBP. I actually don?t mind Harry/Hermione, but I find all the fighting about ?the one true ?ship? a little too migraine inducing. Now that I?ve wondered way OT, let me say again how much I like your little Sneasley smutlet, and that you seem to be slowly winning me over to (or at least tolerate) some slash.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Another slash (sorta) convert! Woot! Harmonites, eh? Are they mad? Now, I could enjoy a good Harry/Hermione as much as a good Hermione/Snape, but it's obvious from the books that neither one is ever going to be canon! That doesn't mean folks can't have fun with it, but I just don't understand folks expecting an author to change things to suit any one groups tastes. Thanks for explaining! I admit that I don't pay much attention to what's happening in the fandom at large! :)
What a chapter: we get 'Master Biggerstaff?s Better Boffing Ointment.? *snort* ~and~ we get "St. Mungo?s: A History,? ~and~ we get a rabid badger to go keep the rabid wombat company, ~and~ we get 'girl talk' with Ron and Hermione. Fun all around. ;-> But please don't tell you're going to suddenly turn into one of those mad, crazed, rabid Harmonites? *shudders, then calms self* All right, I know, it's your story, and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Keep up the great work.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
*snicker* As far as the Harmonite accusation goes, I promise I won't have them all set up house together! But I have to say that I get a bit tired of whoever ends up with Snape getting the cut direct from their best friends. Lol, I've had a few friends go out with folks who are complete wankers, I've had friends marry them, but we didn't stop being friends just because I thought they were barking mad. :D Glad you ejoyed the chapter, and I hope you like the next one as well! Maybe I'll have Harry, Hermione, Snape, and Ron form a comune... Nah! ;)
Oh, fantastic, you've updated. A very funny chapter. I still try to decide whether I like slash (I might do so after all, if it's such a nice pairing as yours) and was looking forward to read more. Did you have to end the chapter where you ended it?
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Woot! If I can make a slash convert then I'm doing my job! *giggle* I have been reading slash for some time. I read the first one out of curiosity, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I guess it shouldn't be such a surprise, male slash is predominantly written and read by women, after all. Thanks for the review, and as far as your question goes...yes I did! :D
I almost forgot to leave a review. My mind is elsewhere *imagines Severus naked in bathtub* oh, right, I was writing...Wow, Brilliant, Hot...if I could think beyond one-syllable words, I would leave a better review. LOL.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Woot! My first foray into all-out slashiness must be going ok if it's reduced you to words of one syllable! Yay for me! And woot to you for leaving me such a sweet review! :)
'Bout damn time Minerva found them spooning. *snicker* Yeah. I was waiting for Hermione to walk into the bathroom but you aren't that nasty, I know. *lol*
Yeah. My eyes were all foggy by the end of that chapter. Nice slashy stuff, Pook. When's the next chapter? Don't hold out on me now.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Nope! No Hermione walk ins! That privacy ward simply wouldn't allow it! *snicker* I do plan to have Ron give Hermione and Harry a bit of a show though... ;) The next chapter hasn't been written yet! Well, I've got about 3 pages so far. They are still in the middle of Minerva's visit. *snicker* Should be fun! Thanks for the review, love, and for fixing my troubles today! You rock! :)
Urg. . . had to go re-register in order to just read your fic, guess I was one of those dumped. (takes a moment to mumble curses at the politicians and lawyers making such a situation necessary) Okay, grumping done. . . I loved the chapter, you did a great job of showing Snape as both proud and yet almost needy. Very, very touching. Loved the line, ?the exercise would do them both good.? :-> For such an unlikely pairing, you have kept me entranced. Now we just need to know what Minerva has to say!
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
*giggle* minerva will have quite a lot to say, I imagine. ;) I got dumped too! I re-registered, but NSS had to fix it because I couldn't get into my fics to edit (thanks for pointing out the missing "as"!) or to respond to reviews! I was a sad Pooka, but NSS fixed it right up! She rocks! Glad the healer made you giggle, and I'm glad you are enjoing this trip down Sneasley lane. I'm seriously thinking about doing another Sneasley when this one is done. It's great fun! :)
hot stuff girly *fans herself*
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Yay! i must be doing something right, then! :)
*facepalms* Oh no *groans* With Minerva there, there will be no more hawthawt mansex. *pout*
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Not to worry! Minerva won't stay forever, after all! Besides, I keep calling this my first venture into complete slashiness and Ron and Severus have not gotten completly slashy yet! ;) Thanks Tarah, and it's all your fault! :D
Hmm, there isn?t much slash that truly gets me excited, but you tweaked my curiosity with Ron/Snape. I must admit I had never considered that before. ;-> You?ve done a great job so far, and made it quite believable. I have to wonder though; no one in the hospital checks in on their patients at night? Surely this is a sight that would raise a few healer intern?s eyes and generate no end of gossip in the staff lounge? Oh dear, an entire other bunny just went hopping off in the distance ? St Mungo?s staff lounge. :-)
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Clever Wolf! Lol, I just snuck a bit of an explanation about that into the next chapter. You'll have to tell me what you think of it when we get there! I don't think I'll go into the staff lounge though, but I do plan to have Hermione quote from "St. Mungo's: A History." *snicker* Thanks for the sweet review! :)
I am reading this with one eye closed--hehe--but still enjoying it. You are right, just two naked men (and one I am quite fond of. LOL.) A lot of entendres, my favorite, "True, he?d taken care of the obvious, but Ron?s growing attraction to Severus could not be so easily handled."--handled *snicker*
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
*snicker* I confess, that sentence had the word "managed" in it at first, but I couldn't resist changing it to handled! I'm so glad someone besides me found that sentence amusing! Lol, that's why I like reading slash; all those naked mens running around--what can be wrong with that? :D Thanks love! And thanks for helping me tidy it up as well! :)
That was well done. exspecially the reactions from Snape about pulling away very realistic. Ron is behaving quite well too
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Glad you liked it! I tell you, it's damned hard to get these two together and keep them anywhere near in character. Glad you thought I managed that ok! Thanks! :)
Methinks Hermione outed Ron on purpose, that little minx. *snicker*
More! Where is the next chapter?
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
I think you may be right. She's fairly observant, after all! *snicker* Next chapter is up! :)
notsosaintly's response: I noticed. I am going to read it in a few minutes...the kids want to get ready to swim. I am going to read it while I watch them. (Hope I don't get too distracted by your next chapter. Heck, I hope I *do*!)
Wow!! Yes, I saw TarahFae's challenge and I even wrote a few paragraphs but it was along a totally different vein and I shut it down immediately and deleted it. It was leaning more towards a humorous Ron/Hermione thing. Perhaps I can no longer write Snape. *sob*
But I certainly can READ it. This is amazing! Ron in ol' Snapey's bed. Tee hee! And I absolutely love the fact that when he is awake he returns to his ornery self and lobs a glass at Ron's head. You are a genius! On to the second chapter.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
No!!!! Tell me it isn't true!!! You HAVE to be able to write Snape! You write the best Snape there is!
You know, Tarah didn't say it had to be Snape/Ron specifically. You could try something else, like Snape/Filch (No really, not Filch, anything but Filch, that was a joke!) Or maybe Snape/Neville. I've always had rather a soft spot for Snape/Neville fics... Glad you liked the beginning of this. I wrote it pretty much just to amuse you and Tarah, but I admit the tale is growing on me. Glad you liked tha glass lobbing, I was particularly fond of that bit. Thanks for reading it, and for leaving me a review. you know what a review slut I am! :)
notsosaintly's response: She *did* say Snape/Ron, but I only got an e-mail of that response...couldn't see it on LJ so I cannot prove that. Filch I will leave up to the illustrious Mr. Doomspark. I am trying to recover from my Snape Writer's Block. It'll take a while.
Hmmm. I wonder where this is going to lead? (I am lost in the Forbidden Forest.)
More observant than most people gave him credit for is my favorite line about Ron. I seem to think he says things matter-of-factly that are really insightful.
Still a believable take, I love that Hermione outted him--hehe.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
I was proud of Hermione as well--way to out Ron, Hermione! *giggle* I agree with you about Ron saying insightful things and he's so off-hand about it that few folks pay attention. Quite early in the second book, Ron says of Lockhart "the things he says he's done," which turns out to be quite correct. Poor Ron! He's not a bad chap, but he's always being trodden on by the SS/HG shippers! :D Thanks for the review, and for the email! :)
While I was surprised with this pairing it is working for me. And I am grateful this is a post school thingy for some reason that gets to me. Looking forward to more
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Lol, you reviewed! I don't care where you posted it, so long as you did! :) Ron and Snape is a very odd pair for sure. I've got my work cut out for me trying to make it work. I'm glad you are finding it believable so far! While I'm rather fond of teacher/of age student fics, I think that will be a hard genre to write in if the fic is post HBP. I decided I had enough trouble simply with my pairing, so I went for a post-school, post-war timeframe. Thanks for the kind review! :)
Response from Anijade (Reviewer)
this review is for chapter 2 posted it in the wrong place sorry
Oh, no, 'Snon' -- hehe. Only you can get me to read slash. I cannot believe I am awaiting Chapter 2. Good take on getting them together, totally original.
Response from PlaidPooka (Author of Unlikely Bedfellows)
Thank you, Broom! And thank's for the help as well! You rock!
