Hermione is forced to lead a double life when she agrees to Dumbledore's plan to protect Professor Snape. Inspired by the Marriage Law. Warning for student/teacher relationship, though Hermione is of age.

Reviews for Second Life
I really enjoyed reading the flight on the Thestral from Hermiones pov, rather than Harrys. You write well. I am enjoying this story. Pleae update soon.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. More is in the queue!
Another wonderful chapter. The part with Seversus at the end is poignant.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!
Your use of Moody is brilliant. First, if he of all people sits in the Headmaster's office and agrees that this marriage is needed, how could she doubt him? Then in canon he gets killed, just when she needs him most. Brilliant.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I wish I had gotten to do more with Moody.
you broke my heart, with Snape's emotion, now fix it and make me all lemony
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'll work on that. ;)
Ugh! How's Hermione going to convince Snape of his worht if they can't even be with each other?? This chapter was incredibly heart-wrenching. Loved it!!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm so glad you liked it. Don't worry; I'm working on getting them together. ;)
wow this is really comming along you are really doing a wonderful job my dear
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!
I love the description of Hermione in the picture. It is exactly what Snape is feeling, what he should be feeling, and it is amazing to see him work through those emotions.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you. That is my favorite part of this chapter, so I'm very glad you liked it.
You continue to impress me with how well you weave canon into your fic. The ending with Snape was very believable and my heart broke for him and Hermione. It does make one wonder how much progress they'll make in their relationship before the war ends.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you. That means a lot to me. The end of this chapter is very difficult, but is maybe my closest and truest reading of poor Snape, who just must be so very tired.
I have a weird feeling about it. It makes me uncomfortable. This war time, this is serious and you express it so well that it's just like I'm threatened myself. I'm very very impressed.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm sorry that I've given you an odd, uncomfortable feeling, but grateful that you feel the story rising off the page. Thank you so much.

Such a little thing, but I don't believe anyone has described Snape's sitting room as "cramped and mouldy," yet I always imagined it to be all mildewy, musty.
Such a small thing, yes? Not so small our hero's depressed grief while in that cramped and mouldy room. I could draw parallels between the room and himself, and then add a fairly mundane observation about throwing open the windows, LOL- letting the sunshine of Hermione's smile into his life. But that's cliche, and you're taking this story to sublime levels, yes, even the darkest depths are sublime.
Another tip of my hat. Forgive the flowery (and idiotic) prose.
Author's Response: *Hugs you* I'm happy we share mouldy images of Snape. ;)
First of all, thank you so much for the update! It was a rather dark chapter, but I knew it had to be, so it was no surprice:-) As usual brilliantly written, and as usual do I love your story:-))
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you; I know how dark this chapter is, and I am sorry. It was brutal to write it.
You had me in tears at the end of this! So sad, so heartwrenching. I love what you have done with canon; this fits so perfectly I am starting to believe that this is actually what happened and Jo just left some stuff out. Excellent excellent work, as always. I look forward to finding out how you will handle the rest of DH. Or, rather, improve the rest of DH!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much; I really appreciate that. This, I think, is the most gut-wrenching chapter I've ever written. I was quite distraught over it! I'm glad you liked it.
I liked rereading that scene (one of the best of the book) from other points of vue.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm so glad!
This is so fabulous. I felt sick when Hermione realised that, without Moody, she was on her own. And that last scene with the photograph. Oh...
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I know, this is a really tough chapter. But thank you for reading and reviewing.
It's very original having Moody as the one Order member who knows the truth and still trusts Severus!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thanks!
*speaks in a very conspiratorial voice*"Glenog Jones of the Hollyhead Harpies"Psst! It's "Gwenog"</no I did not memorise the names of every single character ever mentioned in the Lexicon, no I certainly did not!> *cough*>.>
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I know! I'm sorry--I keep meaning to fix that.
*sigh* His life is so bleak. So . . . full of lack of respect, so full of lack of love, from even his parents, his closest friend, and his mentor. I really just can't forgive Jo for saying he's a "deeply horrible person" when he never knew love, affection, normality and respect from anyone. His whole life has been "deeply horrible"; how is he supposed to know or behave any better? There have been some decidedly funny lines in your story; Harry and Snape sniping at each other was priceless. Snape Levicorpusing Harry and gloating about it was very in-character. And there were some lovely poetic descriptions in the smut!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I have never understood Jo's attitude toward Snape. She wrote the character, so why on Earth can't she see what she put on the page?? I'm very glad that you find the story funny--I think you're the first person ever to say that, and there are parts I think are funny, too, so that makes me very happy. Thank you so much for that, and for reading and reviewing.
Response from cmwinters (Reviewer)
Oh dear, I don't find the story *itself* funny, but there were some GREATLY funny *lines*. The story itself is quite riveting, but if it was all humour, I wouldn't want to read it.I just read the Lightning Struck Tower chapter (zomg second favourite chapter in whole series zomg), and that's really fantastic!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I think we meant the same thing... I didn't mean the story itself was funny, either. God knows, the latest chapter isn't funny. yeep. But thank you all the same. I'm glad you liked the Lightning Struck Tower chapter--that scene rates very high for me in the whole series, as well.
I hope Hermione telling the Weasley's that her parents aren't really dead doesn't somehow get back to the Death Eaters. I don't think that would bode too well for Severus! But anyways, I love your fan fiction so much. I love how you fill in so many gaps. I'm looking forward to the next update!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
No, surely not!! But I think Arthur is a true ally. I simply adore Mr Weasley. Thank you so much for your lovely review! I'm so glad you are enjoying the story.
I'm sorry Hermione loses Moody so soon after that. At least he knew.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I think there is some comfort for her in that. Thanks for reviewing!
Good chapter, one question though. If they expect the MoM to be taken over why not hide the marriage certificate?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thanks... I hope that will become clear soon...
I really like you having a "good" Moody in there. I've always liked him, and he is usually portrayed as a nasty, prejudiced wizard ... As always, great work!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed writing Moody. I'm glad you liked it too!
Terrific story so far. You've kept everyone in character, and I like the way you've filled in the glaring gaps left by JKR. Looking forward to the rest. Although I hope you don't kill Snape, I hope you leave canon at that point.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you for your review--I'm very happy to hear that you are enjoying it. And doubly happy to hear that everyone is staying in character. (They're very slippery, you know ;-)) And I will leave canon eventually. Second LIfe is EWE. Thank you again!
I LIKE your Moody - it's such a true to life representation of what he should be. So often he descends into a caricature.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm so glad that you liked him!
Excellent. I've been re-reading DH on the train the last couple of days to get in the swing of things for this fic, and I gotta say this fits pretty seamlessly so far. I loved the order meeting. Molly Weasley is in such an unenviable position. I would not like to be in her shoes one little bit!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad the canon elements are holding up. I've always wanted to write an Order meeting--I'm so happy you enjoyed it.
