Reviews for Second Life
Oh, that was heartbreaking.

Thank you. I still like that one. I'm kind of enjoying going through this story with you! It's like a trip down memory lane. :)
~thud~ Yeah, that's what I got right now. HELLO. I never write/read student/teacher, but you are making it work in brilliantly canonical ways. And umm, the last line? ~dies~ I am completely incoherent. What were you saying about the first 10 chapters being rough? I cannot tell. P.S. I left work early so I could continue reading!

I'm very grateful that you're giving student/teacher a try--I know how offputting it can be. I have much more of a complex about it than I used to!! LOL. I'm awfully glad you're enjoying it!!
This was perfection. There are too many lines in here to love - the angst, the tension, the humor. You are - wow. I am - wow. And I'm including this as a favorite line since it was so close to the end - “I’m not going to curse you, Miss Granger,” he said. “At least not in the traditional sense.”. ~chuckles~ A lovely bit of humor.
~thud~ As I was writing Sage (also in the wake of DH) when this was posting, I deferred from reading it. Am finally coming around to it, and - dear Lord. The story is already living up to the glowing reviews I have heard. I am very, very excited to see how you weave SS/HG through book seven. Also? This is exceedingly well written, Lariope. Exceedingly.

Oh, sweetie, I'm really honored that you would go back and read it now. Thank you! And please bear with the first ten chapters or so... *grins* I was new at this, and it took me a while to get my bearings. :)
I have to admit that although I've been a part of the fandom for years, I've read next to nothing that hasn't been my own or close friends' work. Ariadne referred me here (quite urgently lol) though, and I do what my good beta tells me to. ;)So here I am and happily so. A most excellent start with tight writing that shows rather than tells and I look forward to the journey. *pulls up a chair*

, particularly for taking a chance on an unknown quantity! I hope you enjoyed it. xoxo
3:32 a.m. I repeat, this is the book as it should have been, and that's accomplishment enough to draw awe and gratitude, but the portrait of the post-war world, the post-war Snape, down to the way Hermione notices the random details that you notice when there's something big and likely very, very bad happening - such a fine, fine story. Brava, Lariope. Brava.

Dear Ariadne,Well, shame on me for taking so long to get back to you. For a long time I had trouble answering reviews of SL--it was too close to me still, or too raw or something. But anyway, here I am, and with more gratitude than I can describe. Thank you so much for reading, and for such lovely reviews. I'm honored, particularly from you.xoxoLariope
1:26 a.m. As they sat by the ocean, I absolutely forgot to breathe. Thank you...
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
No, my dear. Thank YOU.
Now, see, this is outstanding. In your hands, this all makes sense. I confess Rowling had me baffled a lot of the time - thank you so much for giving voice to the other points of view in this "follow the bouncing wand" system she set up... (and, of course, thank you for the HG/SS angle in all of it)... 12:23 a.m., and I read on...
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
"Follow the bouncing wand," LOL. Indeed, as my Snape would say. I struggled so with making the elder wand comprehensible (to myself, let alone anyone else) and I'm glad you felt there was some semblance of sense-making going on. Thank you!
This is the way this book should have been. I read on, bewitched, enraptured, and amazed... such a beautiful chapter... "What is your surname?" nearly burst my heart...
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm so glad you liked that part. It was in the original notes from the story, from long before I ever started it, and when I'd finally written enough to get there, I was so pleased when it still fit, and even more so now because you liked it. I'm spoiled by your lovely reviews. Thank you. :)
Breathtakingly, beautifully good. No way am I going to sleep tonight. *clicks to next chapter*
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
*blushes* and regrets that you lost sleep on a long ago January night. Thank you for reading my story. :)
There are moments when you're reading when you're not aware that there is anything but story, and then you hit the end of a chapter and have to click next. But the end of this chapter bade me leave you this: I feel as if I'm in the presence of a classic. Thank you so much for writing this; I've not read anything this good, this captivating, since my first forays into the fandom. As I just told Annie, "Hot damn, this is good."I don't review a lot (obviously; here I am on chapter which?) but there is no way I'm putting this story down. I can promise a review for the last chapter, of course, but in between now and then don't be offended if you hear nothing from me? I click to the next chapter so as not to break the spell. Not an ideal reader, perhaps, but a very captivated and grateful one.~ Ari
