Just an avid reader who somehow stumbled into HP fanfiction. I read and sometimes, I write.
Reviews for The Life Unlived
These wizard world people amaze me sometimes about how dependent they become on magic. Couldn't Hermione just think to write down her memories? :-)These have been a couple of very interesting chapters. They are incredibly thought provoking. It reminds me about how clear some dreams are when you've just woken up, but they easily fade after a few hours or even minutes. Also, the idea of being able to relieve my life is something that has always enticed me. What would it be like if I had chosen to do a few things differently? On the other hand, I guess that your Hermione would just like to relieve her life as she remembers it.

Oh, you caught me! When I originally outlined the story, I had her hurrying to write everything down, but it just bogged things down, so I changed it. ;) I like to think that the memories would have disappeared as she just tried to write them, much like the memory snapped when she tried to put it in the Pensieve. But that's just my own wistful thinking. LOLDreams are very interesting things. The "dream life" was so perfect ... too perfect. She didn't notice it while "living" it, as we often don't in dreams. That's why she had to forget the specifics of the other life ... I didn't want her to spend her real life comparing the two. You know what I mean? That didn't seem fair to her. It's all very fascinating. So glad you're enjoying the story. Thank you so much!
Really enjoyed this! The first part was very realistic, and hit close to home with my parents' situation (though I was a teen, not a toddler, at the time). If I didn't know for sure my mom hasn't ever written any fanfiction, I would have sworn she was the author of the first chapter (or at least the inspiration for Hermione's role in it)...Liked also that their real life did differ somewhat from their life unlived.

Thank you very much! Having never been divorced (and with parents who still very happily married), I drew solely on my own suppositions for the first chapter. What might I feel, etc. So I'm thrilled that it rang true for you.Yes, reality had to be different from fantasy. :) I'm glad you liked that. Thanks, again!
Very nice ending! I'm happy for Hermione and Severus, but sorry for Eleanor and Ron. Good to see that the real life turns out differently, though. It wouldn't do to know everything beforehand. I wish you all the best with those two other stories - looking forward to reading them!

Thank you so much! I had to insert some realism -- the dream life was too perfect (and for a reason, given Eglantine's purpose for the charm). Glad you enjoyed the story!
Yes, I knew it was STTNG, having been a fan ever since TOS was first aired in Europe when I was 6 or 7 years old (and had to watch it in black and white)! These timeloops are a nuisance to a logician: they're inherently inconsistent by definition (at least by the classical definition of time). That's what makes them such a fascinating concept. On to the next chapter (hoping that it's not the last)...
Response from HannahSmith (Reviewer)
Correction: I mean the classical definition of time and causality, of course.

*grins* I love that episode. And thankfull I wasn't really dealing with time travel. All those parodoxes make my head hurt. LOL ;)Thank you!
Hi there, I'm catching up with the last updates after a short vacation and I'm SO glad that Severus dying was not yet the end! That´s certainly worth a cliffhanger! But I never thought you would begrudge Hermione the memory of those five years. Going to read the next chapter now...
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Life Unlived)
I hope you had a lovely vacation! :)Thank you, Hannah!
Okay, so I have to admit I actually finished the stroy before I reviewed Chapter 6. I couldn't wait another minute to find out what happened! This was just the perfect ending! I thought it was awesome how he came to the cottage and just sat there and then put the carving on the mantle because thats where it belonged. It was sooo cute and just amazing. I'm totally telling everyone to read this story now. Thank you so much for such a happy ending! Much Love Always ~ Brena

Thank you so much for the lovely comments throughout. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the story. :D
OMG What an informative and amazing chapter! I Loved finding out how The Live Unlived charm was suppsed to work. This story has been such an emotional rollercoaster. Having that wonderful life and then waking up to find out it wasn't real? I'd want to cry my eyes out too! Thank you so much for this. Much Love ~ Brena
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Life Unlived)
Emotional rollercoaster seems to be the consensus for this story! LOL ;)Thank you!
Brilliant story, one of the best. It kept you guessing until the end and that last chapter finished it off beautifully.

Thank you very much! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the story! :D
Ah the angst! The whole chapter was like a roller coaster of uncertainty!"Well, they'll be meeting now" - No."OK, then maybe now they'll talk" - Nope!"But now, surely..." - You wish!!!"This time for sure he'll approach her." - Guess again! You are one EVIL author!Than goodness Severus finally did budge. My blood pressure wouldn't take it much longer.Thank you for the read. And hurry up with these other fics - my squigfickle* is getting hungry again!*Squigfickles are magical parasites that plague certain muggles. They are generated when excessive imagination reacts with sugar in the presence of WiFi radiation. Their fur is blue and scraggy, they have large mouths, no visible nose and a pair of bulging eyes that cross constantly.Squigfickles' diet consists exclusively of fanfiction, they can consume daily amount equal to their weight.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Life Unlived)
I am truly evil, I know. *insert maniacal laughter*I will try to feed your squigfickle as quickly as possible! LOL Real life has sort of ... gone insane or something, so as soon as things settle down, I'll get back to work. ;)Thank you so much!
I like that this time she was pregnant. The enchantment was just a possibility. :)
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Life Unlived)
It was. :)Thank you so much!
That was a great story! Hope to see more of your talent in another delicious tale soon!!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Life Unlived)
Thank you so much! I have two more stories in the works, but real life has taken over for a bit, so hopefully I'll get to work on them again soon. :)
That was great - I have to get a tissue as I am a mess. I like that everything isn't exactly how she experienced it (ie her pregnancy). I hope you'll follow up with what happened between that night in the cottage and her pregnancy.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Life Unlived)
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the story. :)I don't believe there will be a follow-up to this one. You never know, though -- the mood may strike me someday. ;)
That was an entirely satisfying story, and the psychology of Severus in this last chapter was excellently done. Thank you!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Life Unlived)
Thank you so much! I'm so relieved that felt Severus was well done in this chapter. I really worked hard to get that right. :)
I'm so glad you wrote this! It provided just the warmest fuzzies ever, and I'm still jealous of Hermione and her REAL life. This definitely is one of my favorite stories. And I'm delighted to see that you have some novel-length stories in the works. I'll be waiting anxiously.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Life Unlived)
Thank you so very much! *blushes* I'm just tickled pink that you enjoyed the story so much.Real life has sort of exploded a bit, but I hope to get back to work on at least one of the two stories soon. Thanks, again!
{sigh} What an absolutely beautiful ending to this story. I loved watching Hermione essentially dissect Severus during their confrontation scene. You managed to make me feel such pain from each of them in that scene it left me breathless. I'll have to re-read that scene.Better yet, I'm off to re-read from the beginning. Whatever you're writing next will be a must-read for me. Well done!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Life Unlived)
Thank you so very much! I am thrilled that you enjoyed that scene -- that one was a toughie to get just right! Thanks, again!
This has to be one of my favourite stories. Thank you so much for sharing it.

Wonderful. Awesome. Fantastic. This was one of the few good ss/hg stories. It was well thought out and exicuted.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Life Unlived)
Oh, thank you so very much for the lovely compliment! I'm glad you enjoyed the story so much. :)
Thanks for sharing such a delightful story. I had totally forgotten about the Star Trek story "The Inner Light" and like you, it is, without a doubt, my favorite episode from all seven years. For honoring that I thank you even more. In each chapter of your story you have displayed your talent and intelligence in writing lovingly about these characters. I like the "dream" of the future as well as the fact that the reality was different. I look forward to your next submissions whenever you send time along. Good Luck and thanks for sharing, JoAnne

Thank you so much for the lovely review. I am thrilled that you enjoyed the story. I had been wanting to write this particular plot, using the basic premise from "The Inner Light", for quite some time, so when I read this prompt, I was so excited to finally have a reason to write it. This was by far the most challenging story I've written, and I worked so hard to get everything right. :)Real life has sort of gone insane -- so much going on! -- but as soon as things settle down a bit, I'll get back to work on one of the two stories I've already started. I have four chapters done on each, so it's a good start. Thanks, again!
That was one of the most awesome stories I have ever read. it was so beautiful and suspenseful. I am glad that a little had changed with them expecting a child. Really, nice story.

Oh wow! I can't believe we're at the end already! What an absolutely fantastic story! The twist was amazing - I never expected a life to be lived...and then relived. You have brought a unique tale to us...and I for one can't wait to see your next story. :)
