Chapter 5 of 5
zyraThe potion had worked, but why can't Severus move his body? The last two drabbles of this series.
Author's note: I want to thank my beta, Septentrion, for help in this series. Thanks, matey!
Well, this is the last part. I hope it meets your expectation. But whatever it is, let me know in your review. You should know by now, how reviews make me sing! :)
Tips: If you find them confusing, it might help if you read all of the drabbles in one go. :)

Her voice brought him back to the godforsaken shack. The potion had worked in neutralizing the venom. It was now up to his will to return amongst the living.
He wanted to return to her. To his child. He tried to move but his body refused to obey.
This couldn't be the end. They needed him. He wasn't ready to leave yet.
Something dripped onto his cheeks.
As he lay in the dark, his first image when he opened his eyes was her teary eyes.
Princes' protected their own. A Prince growing inside her, defying the inevitable. He was alive.

The Order was celebrating. Not only they had won, Hermione, whom they believed dead, was alive. The teary welcome葉o his surprise謡as enough to alleviate the fact that she was pregnant. With his child, no less.
Besides, they were overcome with guilty feelings in doubting his loyalty.
He marvelled at his initial intention to save her that had turned the other way around. It was she who had saved him. And it was she who had fulfilled his deepest desire.
As they lay in the dark, his need became apparent again. He succumbed to her.
Comfort. And joy. Finally.

I love it when a plan comes together.
Severus of all people, should have known that a sword cuts both ways.
The only way to save her life ,I guess.
A baby changes everything, he now has so much more to live for.
A lovely ending, not too sweet, or too dark, very well balanced.
clever girl, she has him figured out.

I have grown to love this story. I know they are suppose to be short and direct, but I find that I wish to spend more time with these two as they lay in the dark. Thanks for posting, I am looking forward to/dreading the final posting. JoAnne

She doubted because women need to hear the words Mr. Snape. We are funny like that! I am looking forward to baby Snape and a dead dark lord. Make it so!

Any chance of a happy ending? the happy ending junkie asks wistfully....
Response from zyra (Author of As He Lay In The Dark)
All I can say is, I'm not JKR. She has done terrible things to him, but I won't. So ...*whistle innocently* ;)Thanks for review! =)
the bonding entails sacrifices in both directions it appears
Response from zyra (Author of As He Lay In The Dark)
Yes, unknown to him (it was an ancient charm), he had to sacrifies part of his soul to her. Ancient charm usually go to such depth.Thank you for reviewing! The next part is in queue ... =)
I love your description of being bonded -- it was very powerful to think of that in a relationship between the two. Good job!
Response from zyra (Author of As He Lay In The Dark)
Bonding stories has been told countless of time, I thought by decribing them this way, the readers get to colours the situation in whichever way they like!Thank you for reviewing! =)
you could use these 100 word drabbles as chapter outlines, but they are really good as they are as well. to me, 100 word drabbles are such teases :P
Response from zyra (Author of As He Lay In The Dark)
Aw, thank you! I'm sorry that they teases you so much, but I'm glad that you find them enjoyable just the same! =)

A story we might have seen elsewhere (this is the wonderful world of SSHG, LOL) but told so beautifully, so sparely. I admire the restraint you show and how each word, and especially each sentence, seems carefully chosen.
Please continue.
Author's Response: 100-words is 'supposed' to be easy, isn't it? Pfft... My first draft often went overboard by 20 words at least! >_< And then I would tear my hair out to reduce them to the correct 100-word block.
The next part is in queue!
Thanks for review! =)
The last line was so moving. These 3 words summarize so much Severus' life. You're brilliant.
Response from zyra (Author of As He Lay In The Dark)
Thank you for your kind words! :) That part of Severus' life has been told many times in fanfics before, I thought summarizing them should be enough. :)Thank you again! =)
The plot grows thicker and thicker. I have more questions than answers young lady. I will attempt patience for the next installment. Keep in mind I am not skilled at waiting quietly. HURRY UP!!!
Response from zyra (Author of As He Lay In The Dark)
I'd be more than happy to answer your questions as long as they don't contain any spoiler for later chapters ... :)The next part is in queue ... See, I'm not that heartless to my readers, in fact I love them too much! *g*Thank you for your review! =D
