ReviewedThey never did find out why Snape hadn't passed on properly. Hermione spent months in the libraries, researching everything on ghosts while Severus (very unwillingly) fraternized with Hogwarts' spooks. They met every week to discuss their findings. But they could not come up with a reason.
It was all very maddening.
After all, Snape had fulfilled his life's task. (Voldemort was gone.) His death was traumatic (but he wasn't tied to that location). He didn't have any specific grudges. (Nobody was worth the effort of haunting and terrorizing.)
But... Granger was turning out to be a rather interesting research partner.

The drabbles are bouncing between an indefinite 'present', the past, and the distant future. So far, anyway.

That is a very interesting question -- if Severus felt that he fulfilled all of his life's requirements, why did he stick around? Hm.... good job!
I would assume then that love can bind a ghost? Even if he doesnt realize it?

Hm, not all ghosts "haunt and terrify" though. Severus seems to have forgotten Headless Nick and the Grey Lady. Those spirits are rather helpful and protective. Maybe he still had someone left to protect...
well, it was time for a bit of fun in his life, or afterlife as it were.
I love the fact that he was present at the birth of her child. To me, this shows that he really appreciates her. Thank you, and great job!
