Sequel to Living Legacy. Abigail Snape has loved Teddy Lupin for as long as she can remember, but the timing has never been right. Now, it may be too late.

Just an avid reader who somehow stumbled into HP fanfiction. I read and sometimes, I write.
Reviews for Look Me in the Eyes
I don't think I've ever seen Severus lose a bet before. How fun! This last chapter in itself was quite a rollercoaster -- did she change her mind? -- which made the ending so very satisfying.*surreptitiously removes Imperius Curse* Thanks for sharing this with us!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Had to do something unexpected. LOL He can't always be right. Right? ;)I'm glad you enjoyed the conclusion! Thanks, again, for the Imperius ... um ... the initial encouragement. :D I hadn't even thought of writing a story for them until you mentioned it. Thanks so much, Kel!
Bravo my dear BRAVO!!! This is an outstanding ending! You made me love a story with out any naked parts. How the hell did that happen?? My favorite part was the betting. This line made me inhale wine (painfully) He pinched the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger. “She cracked, didn’t she?”“Yes.” The three witches answered in unison. So Luna & George got married after all huh? Is that a nod to your birthday drabble from TalesofSnape?? I heart you. But you knew that.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
*bows* Thank you, thank you! I live to serve. LOLI'm so glad you liked this story -- even without the naked bits! How did that happen, anyway?Sorry about the wine -- you thought you were safe since it was angst, didn't you? That bit of humor caught you by surprise. (It did me, too! LOL)Oh, George and Luna. *happy sigh* I asked TalesofSnape for that drabble after I wrote Luna and George in Living Legacy, so this was a continuation of that. I love that idea, really. LOLI heart you, too, honey! *HUGS*
Perfect resolution! I had tears in my eyes reading the last bit.

Thank you so much! I'm thrilled that it moved you. :)

Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Aww! *passes tissues* I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much!
*squeals with joy* *howls with laughter at the bet* This was lovely! Thank you! :)
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
*grins* Thank you, Scoffy! I'm so glad you enjoyed the conclusion -- especially the bet! That was a last minute, late night addition. I found it funny, but I wasn't sure anyone else would. LOL Thanks again!
Oh, Shug, you big romantic you! What a lovely conclusion to a very sweet story--and you even gave us a few grace notes of our Severus, content and happy and daring to admit to side bets with some of the women in his life...and other things with one particular woman! And you gave Teddy and Abigail a very fitting reconciliation--touching and adorable. Good job!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
I am, I know. *happy sigh*I'm so glad you enjoyed the conclusion. It was fun writing new and different characters. :D Thanks so much, honey!
OUCH!!!!!!! poor Abigail, to have to see Victoire as her new sister-in-law after knowing Victoire had had Teddy for so long. I'm glad Hermione sent Teddy to talk with Abigail, and wonder if Severus noticed. Ouch!! Please hurry with that next chapter....
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Poor Abigail just can't win a break. But she does like Victoire, which was part of the problem -- she wanted to dislike her, but she couldn't. But, yeah, it would still be a tad uncomfortable, I would think! LOL The next chapter is in with the betas now, so it should post very soon. And as it turns out, there will be one more chapter after that. I got a bit carried away. ;) Thanks you so much!
Boy, you certainly pulled that one out of the hat! I think everyone was expecting that the wedding you alluded to at the end of the previous chapter would be Teddy's wedding to Victoire -- that perhaps Teddy would get cold feet at the last minute, or that they would get married and Victoire would run out on him, or some other thing. I don't think anyone could possibly have predicted that Victoire would end up with Abigail's brother!I hope, however, that Abigail will come to her senses and break up with Edward before it's too late -- because whenver a woman tries to replace one man's place in her affections with another man who's either an exact duplicate or an exact opposite, it hardly ever ends well. I do find it interesting how you've managed to bring Abigail and Teddy full circle. Last time, she had every reason to believe that she was losing him -- and now, he has every reason to believe that he's losing her. I can't help wondering what it meant when Teddy's hair turned brown just like his father's -- just like he mentioned to Hermione.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
I'm pleased as punch to have fooled you about the wedding. :D I didn't originally intend on having Ben and Victoire together -- Victoire was to marry some unnamed person -- but somehow that's what happened when I sat down to write.Yes! You got it! They have come full circle -- they've both revealed (intentionally or otherwise) their feelings, they've both now faced the thought of losing the other. As for Teddy's hair ... remember in HBP how Tonks' pink hair turned a mousy brown because she was heartbroken over Remus? Teddy's brown hair shows just how heartbroken he is. *sniffles*Thank you so much! Next chapter (which will NOT be the last one, after all) is with the betas and should be up soon! :D
Oh! This is just lovely. And heartrending. And lovely!*waits (im)patiently for more*
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Thank you, Scoffy! More to come very soon. The next chapter is with the betas now, so it should be up no later than tomorrow. :D
Hm, first chapter I was angry at Teddy, in this chapter I am a tiny bit angry at Abigal:-). I can understand her anger, dozed with a not so small need for revenge, to hurt him like he hurt her. I have been there, done that, but pride doesn't keep one to warm at nigth:-). While I don't think she should fall into Teddy's arms the minute he declared his feelings, settle for someone like Edward to get revenge is going way overboard:-)I kling to my trust in you to fix everything in the end and look forward to read the next chapter:-))
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Yes, I have those same feelings for toward these two! LOL You're absolutely right that she is using Edward--who really is a jerk as we'll soon see. I can guarantee that I shall make all things right in the end. :DThank you!
Good, she walked away. Let her *stay* away from that creep Lupin. Any man who will not heed a woman when she tells hiim to unhand her, let her go, go away etc, is a potential abuser. It's the Golden Rule: any man who does not take 'no' for an answer is NOT 'soooo romantic' but a creepy stalker/rapist wannabe.Granted, that Edward type doesn't sound very wonderful, but I've always had a soft spot for Percy, who was kind to younger children, concerned for the safety of others, earnest and hardworking, and look what the 'popular crowd' made of him; they called him 'pompous' and 'ambitious' (as if that is so bad)Truly, if I had to choose between a stodgy, pompous, clumsy man who was earnest, hardworking and who appreciated me for my self or a flamboyant flashy guy, who hurt me and left me in the lurch for a year and then came walzing back into my life, refusing to listen to me or respect my person and expecting me to throw away all and everything for the honour of his attention, I'd choose the pompous stodgy one! No contest!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. I'm sorry that particular scene hit you that way ... it is certainly not what I intended.
A happy ending????? Please????!!!!!!???? Like the one her parents had? Not one where after 20 years of unhappy marriage to the Edward-git she realizes what she has lost. I think Teddy's hair is just such a wonderful detail (especially hwo it changed to brown like his mother's when he's heart-broken).This was a really lovely chapter and I can't wait for the update!gab
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Well, since you asked so nicely ... ;) Of course there will be a happy ending! This is me! :DI'm so glad you liked the bit about Teddy's hair. That image just breaks my heart. *sniffles*The next chapter is with the betas, so it should post soon! Thank you so much!
I'm so sad for the two of them. I understand she's hurt but I hope she'll find enough strenghth to forgive him. (I shouldn't doubt it being Sev' and Herm's daughter :-D
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
I hurt for them, as well. I think she let her temper get the best of her, very much like her parents might do. ;) The next chapter is with the betas, so it should post soon. And since it got a bit long, there will be one more chapter after that. :)Thank you so much!
Good wedding. An unexpected one based on the first chapter, but a good one. After my anxiety over the previous chapter, I'm relieved. Edward as another Percy-type is a nice touch. He has no chance at all. I must wonder though if it is possible to patch things up that have been torn so thoroughly. Somehow, I don't think so. But hopefully, those two will be able to overcome the pain they cause each other.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
*grins* I'm glad you enjoyed the wedding. ;) I couldn't have him marry someone else! lolEdward is definitely a jerk, as will soon be revealed. Yes, they have certainly hurt each other, but hopefully they work past it ... with a bit of help. ;)The next chapter is with the betas, so it should post soon! Thank you!
His brown hair... a complete reflection of his emotions at that time. He hurt her, she hurt him. They are even now so they can work it out. Please be a happy ending!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Yes, just like his mother's hair. *sniffles*Yes, they're even now! I think I can pretty much guarantee that there will be a happy ending. ;) You know me -- I rarely write anything else! LOLThe next chapter is with the betas, so it should post soon. And I got a bit wordy, so there will be yet another chapter after that. ;)Thank you so much!
Teddy is going to have to do alot more than just say "I love you". And I know you won't let us down sshg316.....
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Yes, he is. Groveling will be in order, I think. ;) Thank you for the review and the vote of confidence! *grins*The next chapter is with the betas, so it should be up soon!
Awww. Poor Abigail. This was a very moving first chapter. I had tears in my eyes:( Can't wait to go read the second.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Thank you! I'm glad that it moved you. :)
You had me laughing with “I come in peace,” he joked. Which was nice of your because quickly after that I had tears running down my face. Lupin always was slow to act on his feelings, I guess we cannot expect anything else from his dumbass son. I am glad Edward came looking for Abby. She needs to make Teddy work at earning back her friendship. She is her father’s daughter, Teddy needs to bleed more.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Thank you, sweetie! You know me ... I can't resist putting at least one funny in there! But yes, it's such an angst-filled story. Sigh. I will need a major dose of fluff after this! LOL As always, you are so insightful! Re-read your review after the next chapter posts later this week ... you'll see what I mean! ;)*hugs you* Thanks, again!
Oooh, this was quite excellent and angst-ridden, I love it.Poor, poor Abigail! I hope she find someone who loves her wholeheartedly!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Thank you very much! Every now and then, I get in the mood for a bit of angst. But I'm a sucker for a happy ending, so Abigail definitely will find the one who will love her with his whole heart. :) More to come soon! Thanks, again!
This is lovely! :)
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Thank you, Scoffy! :)
I'm so sad for her. But I hope Teddy will change his mind and realize that he does love her now that he knows about her feelings.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
I'm sad for her, too. :( All will be revealed soon ... it's only three chapters long. LOL More to come in a day or so. Thank you so much!
This was a very sweet, very painful chapter. There are so many ways this could play out, and I'm looking forward to more.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Thank you! I'm so mean to her, I know. ;) More to come very soon.
it was nice how severus comforted her after all he went through something similar in his youth. poor abigail i can't imagen her holding a candle to someone like victoire, so sad. update soon please.
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Yes! You caught that! Severus certainly knows exactly what she's going through. More to come very soon. Thank you so much!
I have missed the turquoise haired boy. Thank you for posting this here, I enjoyed the reread. This time I noticed how Abigail has some of her father’s traits, the hatred of crowds, the embarrassment of tears etc… It makes my sentimental heart beat faster to read about the next generation.
IMPERIO: post the next chapter sister!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Thank you, sweetheart. I'm glad you enjoyed it again. The next chapter is done, beta'd and Brit picked ... just waiting a bit to post. ;) Probably a day or two.
Thank you Keladry Lupin for "suggesting" this story, the readers are grateful. I was hoping for a sequel to Living Legacy!
Response from sshg316 (Author of Look Me in the Eyes)
Isn't she great? I hadn't even thought of writing Abigail and Teddy's story until she mentioned it, and then I immediately came up with the idea. I'm thrilled to see that people are interested -- you never know with original characters. ;)Thank you so much!
