You know, it's only now that this is on-site that I realise it's really rather long! LOL Re-reading, I do love the Remus-Snape dynamic so much. I think Remus is something of an under-used character (as Kingpig will tell you when every chapter I beta for her comes back with 'yes, but where's remus', in the comments!), so it's nice to see him out and about!
Author's Response: Hehehe, in this case I can tell you that I have some more Remus/Severus stories brewing... Maybe I will even ask you to beta them ;-)
Thank you so much for reviewing, it means a lot to me!
OK, so Im wondering about Remus' statement that some were "heartbroken". I remember that Hermione did something prior to Draco taking Snape's body from the Shrieking Shack. I didn't think this was a love story, and maybe it's not, but that 'hearbroken' line made me wonder if maybe a certain talented witch was the one who was heartbroken :)I hope we get to share in seeing those memories when Sev views them. And it's making me smile that Remus, of all people, is there to help Snape through this.

The next chapter will be the last, and maybe Hermione will sort of... pop up ;-) Maybe I even will show you the memories *g*Thanks for reviewing!
I'm a fan of dark fics so after chapter one I was very interested in this one :) Somehow I missed the posting of chapter 2 *scratches head* But anyway... really really enjoying this and I love that Remus got to see Snape's scars, and the way he chose to calm him. We always see Hermione seeing the scars or DD but never anyone else in the Order - they never seem to truly know Snape's plight. I really like this change to that senario.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
It seems I'm getting into dark fics more and more myself, although this one here will get a bit more lighthearted with the next and final chapter. I didn't want to stretch it out too long, given the fact that it was a last second challenge entry... And I truly like Remus :-)Thanks for reviewing!
I am truly enjoying this story, Thank you. I really lke that you are writing the thoughts and feelings of a number of characters. What a good idea you had that Draco hadn't told Severus the 'bad' news of V's defeat, and it nearly killed him (Severus) I am looking forward to the poor man being pampered soon, I wonder if he wil lke it or not.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
You've found out by now that he loves it, but shows a grumpy face. Thanks for reviewing!
In a way I am surprised that Draco would tell Remus about Severus. I know his had a bit to drink but I believed that once seeing that it was Remus, he would sober somewhat. It shows that he put some trust into Remus, right? I'm sure Severus never had much physical contact that was in a good way. I liked that Remus showed him some good contact and not in a sexual way either. At least thats the feeling I'm getting at this time, anyway. This story is starting to worm its way into my heart. Thank you for writing it.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
I see it this way: Draco is close to a breakdown, with a dying man in his house and no way to help him. He possibly would have told anyone, drunk as he was, but with Remus making clear that he somewhat liked Snape, Draco gave it a chance and blurted all out. And although I'm currently writing some Severus/Remus slash, there won't be any in this (rather short) story, as Southernwitch required friendship in the prompt, not sex ;-)Thanks for taking the time to review!
"Ah, Severus," she said and sat on the bed, feeling the Potions master's pulse on his exposed throat. "I should have known that it would take more than a stupid snake to kill you.
If only this brain spark would have reached JKR!!
I wonder if Severus will want to leave Britain and live anonymously?
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Sorry to nag you, but you will have to let me know if you like the way I end this story with the next chapter! And thanks so much for the brain spark thing *ggg*
Good grief Draco! Not even a lousy newspaper to see which way the wind blew? Well I suppose if he thought Snape was a DE…Denial is never a good idea.
I really liked that the physical holding calmed him down, makes me a tad bit tearful. ~sniffle.Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
*hands you a handkerchif*Draco is a bit thick, IMO. And I figured Snape could do with a bit of physical contact. Thanks for reviewing and sorry for the late response.
Very nice. I like how Draco has been living underground and knows nothing of the happenings. Very plausible and it's nice to see Remus taking charge. It would have been very nice to see the two of the forge a friendship because I really think they could if they got over their differences.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
They could, and they will. As always in my stories. I think I will never forgive the wonderful Ms Rowling for killing not one, but two of my favourite characters. Well, tried to kill. Thanks for reviewing!
Nice AU take on things. I love that Remus is still alive (I hated Jo for that). Nice job portraying Snape's depression. I hope that Draco will be able to get through to him. :)
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
I think I am an AU kind of person. I rarely write stories following canon. Not enough interesting people left in the original epilogue! Thanks for reviewing!
good chapter.I really like the inclusion of Remus. Looking forward to more
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Thank you! I just thought it a bit much for Draco to deal with this on his own... and I really, really like Remus.
I loved it!
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Thank you so much, dear!
Poor Draco must be feeling awful round about now. Hopefully he will forgive himself in due course.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
*snigger* He's a Malfoy. They will forgive themselves everything!
this is very intresting. I like your Drago quite a bit' and I can believe that he might help Severus.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Thanks for reviewing. And Draco will get help himself for helping Snape.
I have loads of sympathy for Draco, being a caretaker for someone who does not want to live is no fun at all. Its draining and depressing. Has anyone noticed Snape and Draco have gone missing?
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Of course they noticed Draco gone missing. They assume Snape to be dead. Thanks for taking the time to review.
Poor Snape. Very good start.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Thank you, dear!
Amazing story. I can't wait to see where you are taking it. I think Draco is taking wonderful care of Depressed Severus. I look forward to seeing more.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Thank you very much. I hope you will like the way I continue this as well.
So... Snape just may think Voldemort has won... and just maybe that's why he's in his little snit. Hmmm... I wonder when Draco may actually tell him the tale. I look forward to seeing his reaction.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
He won't like it. But then, a Snape can deal with everything, even with success. Thanks for reviewing!
I was really hoping that someone would pick up this prompt! You've made an excellent start, and I'm looking forward to reading more.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Thank you very much. I'm currently doing some last minute changes, but the story itself is finished (just four chapters all in all.)Thanks for reviewing!
What a beginning. I sure hope Snape finds a reason to live. It breaks my heart to read him in this state. I love how kind Draco is being to him. I hope Draco doesn't get caught and sent to Azkaban.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
*g* Thanks! It will get a little bit worse before it gets better...
Oh dear. If Draco would just tell Snape that Mouldy-Voldy was dead, it may just help a bit. I wondor how on earth Draco is going to get Snape out of this Depression?
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Draco will get help to help Snape. I considered him too young to do it all himself, and Snape is not really the model patient. Hope you will like where I am taking this, and thanks for reviewing!
aww come on Draco, tell him Voldie is dead, that'll cheer him up!
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
:-) He will. Soon. Promise. And thanks for reviewing!
Such a sweet moment between good friends.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
I thought Snape could do with some friends. Thanks for reading and reviewing the prequel!

I'm so glad Snape is alive after all. And with all his wit and sarcasm ;o)
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Huh, it takes more than a snake and a little depression... and some fever... and malnourishment... to take him down. I simply can't let him die. Actually, I only killed him once (suicide), but after a long, happy life. Thanks for reviewing!
Response from snitchette (Reviewer)
I know what you're talking about. I've re-read it yesterday and I cried a lot. 't was beautiful.

LOVELOVELOVEout of curiousity - the last chapter says there's a sequel, but it gives the title of this fic. where can i find the actual sequel.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
*headslaps*Stupid me, messing up the titles. And you are the first one to notice! I fixed the A/N (thank you), and here's the real titel and the link to the sequel, posted here at TPP:Scampi and Cherry Creamhttp://www.thepetulantpoetess.com/viewstory.php?sid=11601Thank you so much for reading, liking, and reviewing!
I really enjoyed reading this story and you responded to the prompt wonderfully.
Response from chivalric (Author of Truffles and Strawberries)
Thank you so much! I am currently working at the sequel and only need someone who is mad enough to beta it *suspicially winks her eye*The prompt called out for me - I have a thing for a suffering Snape, as long as things end up well for him ;-)
