Severus overhears Trelawney make a Prophecy from the keyhole in the Hog's Head, but would've dismissed the crazy woman as a lunatic and would have thought that she was performing an act just to get the job.
Except that only several months earlier, when he’d passed this odd woman in a town called Gutschow Bading, she had stopped, grabbed his arm and said something rather peculiar to him – and about Lily. Hearing this first prophecy, Severus tried to warn Lily himself. They met, and in a heated discussion, Severus kissed her, things happened, and went a bit too far. And now Severus thinks Lily's son could be his!

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”― Maria Montessori
“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein
“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere.” ― Carl Sagan

I'm not really big on the Severus/Lily angle, but I really liked how you portrayed it in this story. Great idea. Wonderful job!~Jen

If you're not into Severus/Lily, then I'm flattered that you took the time to read this. You know how I view that relationship, flawed and perfect only in his hindsight! I'm glad that you liked this tale. Thank you for the review.

That was very good, I liked it. It had a funny sort of atmosphere to it that made me imagine the whole plot taking place in semi-darkness. That happens a lot to me when reading angst. :pI liked the inclusion of the Sorting scene. It's definitely an explanation of why Severus hates Harry so much. Imagine walking around for 11 years thinking that it could be his son, and then finding out with blinding certainty that it isn't, but he still have to be super protective of him. Poor Severus.

Thank you very much. Funny you would say that about the atmoshpere. When I wrote this I was thinking about 'night time' in my head, I just didn't write it in. So this story is angst? I disn't know that - hmmm.I really thought the Sorting scene was the sincher the 'let down' before the stroy continued... Thinking 11 years he's really your kid only to see the face of your most hated advesary - Yikes! I'm so glad you enjoyed this. Thank you for the lovely review.
Very nicely done. An excellent job meeting the challenge. I love this look at Severus and what might have been happening behind the scenes. It all meshes together so wonderfully to lead to his gruff treatment of Harry.

Thank you very much. I really carefully considered the timeline of Severus' hearing the prophacy, telling the Dark Lord and leading up to Lily's death. I also wanted to fit in how Severus only heard half of the prophacy, and yet how come Sybill knew that he had been listening at the door. This was fun to write and Harry's sorting became the perfect end... and yet the beginning of the tale. Thank you again very much for the lovely compliment.
Nice take on the sorting scene in Book 1

Thank you. I thought that would be fun to see from another perspective - Snape's!
I think Sev took Harry being James' son fairly well considering. I liked the suspense (even though we know Harry is James' son) of waiting for Sev to actually see the boys face and know without a doubt that it was the son of his enemey. Good job!!

You are welcome. Thank you for the compliment.
This is an amazing take on the prompt. I can feel how Severus is being pulled in two directions - his loyalty to his friends and his love for Lily. I can imagine how much hope he would have held in himself that he had had a son with his love, only to see him look like his worst enemy. This really is a fantastic beginning!
