Oh dear. Thank you for a wonderful and heartbreaking story.
That's such a beautifulstory, very well written and it explains so much...

Thank you for the review and the compliment. I enjoyed writing it, and may at some point expand upon it or include it in a larger story, especially now that Sweet Sanctuary has been made more relevant to me.

Oh, I am thrilled to be the first one to review the wonderful story! It is truly supurb! You have tied in the wrappers Alice always gives Neville into a plausible and very sad, but fabulous, tale. Twist the knife just a little bit more!

Thank you. It always nagged at me, that urge of Alice's, and I have always been led to believe that as insane as something seems, it has a sane logic behind it, even if it is unfathomable to us. There were so many things within the books that begged questions, and Neville's reaction to Snape has been the top of my list for many years. Upon realising that the answer would not present itself via JK Rowling, I decided to make my own reason up... the wonder of fanfiction! lol.

I read an interview with JKR and (forgive me if I get details wrong) she was inspired by a freind's mother who had Alzhiemer's or some other brain degenerative disease. The poor woman didn't know her own son as her son, merely as the person who brought her candy. and apparently wishing to give something back to this benfactor of one of the last joys left to her, she would give him wrappers back. I found the story incredibly moving. I think it's neat that it rang true enough to you that you thought & wondered about it. I love your remark here about the logic behind it can be sane when the act is seemingly not so.

I wasn't aware of that; thank you for sharing that. I am flabbergasted, truly speechless... As a story writer I can be quite disassociated from what I write, but knowing that this event in the book was inspired by actual events just leaves me feeling quite overwhelmed. I found what you typed to be more poignant and evocative than the whole of my submission. Had I known, I think that I may have treated the topic with more respect, and focused more on Alice's thinking rather than just try to resolve my own curiosity... perhaps at another time I will try again. Thank you once again for your thoughts and sharing.
