Hello. I love reading and writing... what more can I say?
Reviews for Enduring Recovery
I enjoyed this chapter. :)
All I can say is hmmm...
Oh, and I liked that in her sleep she sought him out for comfort. That was cute. And I like that he brought her back to her bed. :)

Thank you for the review and stars. I hope that the 'hmmm' is a good hmmm. I liked the idea that she would, and he seemed the sort who would not share, and I could only giggle at the potential row over who hogged the duvet.
Oh dear. I don't think Severus really knows what he is getting into by taking on Hermione's emotions. I don't think he realises the extent of her emotional damage.

Thank you for the review. He has the vaguest of ideas, and you're right, he may not fully appreciate what he's doing, but he feels that he must.
Oh my, that Displacement potion sure caused my Evil Cliffhanger alerts to go off. Oh, update soon! I can't imagine what's going to happen to Severus having to cope with Hermione's emotions as well as his own.

Thank you for the review. I'm not usually that cruel, but it seemed a good place to end the chapter... lol.
Great chapter! Oh wow... It says a lot, I think, that Severus is willing to "displace" her emotions onto himself... I really hope that they decide to stay together when this is over... Maybe he can disillusion himself and go to the funeral with her? To see what she gets so upset over, to help him understand how to help her... Please Please Please update soon!!!

Thank you for the review and the stars. lol... so many good ideas for plots that are being thrown my way, I don't know what to do! You've hit upon a good aspect of all this... his desire to know, understand and help. Writing like a mad woman... will update as soon as.
The potion that he is going to brew for her sounds interesting. I am glad that he offered her comfort when she needed it most. I can understand the pain that she is feeling by the situation that you have written for her - good chapter

Thank you for the review and the compliment.
And he didn't tell her what the potion would do. That lovely man.

Thank you for the review and the stars. I've created a kind of system for how potions affecting the mind/emotions work, and as such, there is a reason for the Displacement rather than a Calming Potion... whether it makes sense or not is a different matter... I just wanted to highlight that there is some method in Snape's apparent noble madness.
Okay, I am having a really really bad feeling about this displacement potion. Uh oh!
I hope Snape's not biting off more than he can chew!!!

Thank you for the review. All shall be revealed... and I'm furiously writing it now... lol.

I enjoyed the trip down Severus's memory lane, and I can certainly see Hermione's anger about being the all and everything to her friends.

Great chapter! Are they going to trade feelings or will Snape take Hermione's?
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review and the stars. No trade, no. I'm going into greater detail in the next chapter... hope that you'll stay around to find out :)
Response from hgelman (Reviewer)
Of course I will! How can I not - I'm quite invested in the story as it is. Oh, I also wanted to mention, I loved the scene where Hermione climbs into Snape's bed and he brings her back to hers. To me, that shows he still sees her as a child at that time.

Displacement potion, not a calming potion? I have a bad feeling about this. Is Hermione even going to remember why she has been so upset with her friends when she sees them? And what will happen to Snape? He is taking on her emotions temporarily? Is he nuts? Hasn't he been through enough? When Hermione comes back will there still be a house? The inquiring mind wants to know.

Thank you for the review. I will expand upon the choice of Displacement over Calming in the next chapter. Quite possible that he has slipped over the edge...

Oh, wow!! I had to reread that last bit twice to get what he was doing! Yikes! I love him! What a...sacrifice!

Thank you for the review. He is adorable when he chooses to be... or at least to my way of thinking he is :D.

Displacement? Oh goodness, is he going to take her pain onto himself? Does he even realize how much he must care for her already to even consider such a thing?
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. He knows what the results could be, and I can't say much more in case I let slip with the heart and soul of the next chapter.

Ok if I am reading this right then the displacement potion doesn't just mask or tamp down one's emotions, it sends them somewhere else or more to the point TO someone else. Oh my. That would be enlightening. I can't wait to find out if I am right. Interesting storytelling. Keep up the good work. I look forward to your next chapter, JoAnne

Thank you for the review. I considered various routes to dealing with this problem, and after much thought, I found that to maintain a certain idea throughout the story then the only way to help Hermione was to do it this way.

Another stellar chapter. I'm so greedy. I simply want more, more....
So she doesn't even know she ended up in his bed with him, does she?
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the wonderful review, the stars and for sticking with this :). No, she doesn't... just as my eldest doesn't remember getting up at four in the morning to tell me that the teacher talked about Dragons stomping holes in the fields! Memory is such a fickle thing when it chooses to be, and that is important with regards to things like Legilimency and potions which affect the mind.

Now, does this displacement potion mean that HE would get her emotions? Hmm, great going on this. Its intriguing that he has not tried to Legi to find out whats been happening when she loses it.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. He did try Legilimency some days ago, but was swamped with the swirling chaos inside her head, and given her mental state, I fancied that he wouldn't enjoy a trip down Memory Lane. I also have some ideas about the conditions under which Legilimency may work (at least in my universe), and based upon that I doubt that it would be possible to follow a thread through her mind... I will expand upon that later as it explains why a Displacement was required. The Displacement Potion does exactly what it says on the tin.

The alternating darkness and light here is almost tangible. I was recently reading a bit about how couples deal with grief, and this is a fascinating example of two people who both feel broken being able to reach beyond themselves for the sake of another.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you. That was a lovely review and highlighted something honest and pure hidden within the dreadful dross. Thank you.
Wow. The raw emotion and the way they take turns giving and receiving comfort is compelling. I like that I don't quite know what to expect from them next.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. I doubt that any of it can be expected, I'm certainly struggling with it and scan through page after page of notes and findings regarding trauma and the associated consequences...and all I can say is that the only predictable thing is unpredictability.
He didn't actually tell her she could use his first name. I liked the chapter.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. You're right, he didn't, and yet in some way he had expected it... interesting that he should do so. I hope you enjoy the next chapters.
Oh, so cool that they set up the lab. It's cute how Hermione fights the developing attraction she feels for Snape. I especailly like the fact that he used the neighbor to get what he need and Hermione didn't really go off the handle about it. Nice installment.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. lol... what a way he has with women! It's an interesting idea, and one that I am thinking of incorporating, but do you think that trauma can reset your sense of ethical/moral behaviour? In comparison to say hexing/hurting someone, the mere borrowing of a table or encouragement towards gaining the help of someone seems quite negligible. If it does change, then where is the new line drawn? Hmmm... *slinks off to write next chapter*
Poor Hermione, she just doesn't have the ability (who would) to deal with all that's dropped in her lap.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you again. And made worse by the fact that up until that point she had always had the answer, but she does have help, an anchor to it all; she just needs to hang on.
I'd like to think Hermione's parents, while more than likely confused, would gave listened to Hermione and forgiven her. She protected them after all. Too bad J.K.R. never really said much about the Grangers, it would have been nice to know what they knew, felt and how they delt with having a witch in the family.
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review. You are most likely correct, they would forgive her--after yelling at her and grounding her for the rest of her natural life--but Hermione is just a mess and can't see past her own guilt. I think that there will always be something between them now, whether it be the terrible thing that is Hermione's experiences or just the knowledge that all parents have to face when they realise that their baby is now an adult.
hmmm, I hope things improve for Hermione and Severus. Will Harry and Ron show up and further complicate matters I wonder?
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you. lol... it's quite amazing, but several people have commented upon Harry and Ron arriving to actually ruin/complicate matters... I must have subconsciously written them to come across as more of a nuisance than a help--which they will be, of course... lol.
“Miss Granger,” he said lazily while scanning the writhing print on the paper. “Stop gaping like some landed trout and sit down.”
“I’m sleeping in her spare bedroom while we both slip into the madness that is ‘trying to cope’.”
Your style is undeniable. I could read 50 chapters of this fic. I feel like writing down my favorite quotes.
Harry must be wondering where Hermione is. He better be working on clearing Snape of all charges!
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Oh! Thank you so much! Of course, now there is this immense pressure to write good potential quotes... lol.
Hermione's episodes were a bit random...
I love this line:
"He knew as best as he could what she felt; it echoed in him from ages past, and it resonated within him now as he watched her."
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you again. I'm not sure what you meant by Hermione's episodes, but if you mean that she acted erratically then that 'randomness' was intentional (honest! lol), and if I managed to emphasise that through writing then I'm quite happy with it. I did some research before writing this into trauma and the like and I hope that I have understood the theory of it enough to do it justice.
Wow - great chapter! This chapter has sealed the deal for me. I'm hooked. I can't wait to see what happens next!
Response from sweetflag (Author of Enduring Recovery)
Thank you for the review and the lovely compliment... lol ... I hope that I continue to hit the spot. Chapter four has been submitted, and I hope that you enjoy that one too.
