At the start of term feast, Severus Snape watches the first years being Sorted with a little more interest than usual, and a little more regret, as he finds one child’s presence brings back too many memories of a woman he once loved… and betrayed.
Even if Severus could forgive Harry Potter for who his father was, forgiving him for who his father was not may be harder.

Reviews for Lily’s Son
poor severus

I know, sometimes I just want to give him a hug, but I doubt that would be a concept he'd be very impressed with!
What an amazing story. Well done.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
so melancholy. .. poor Severus. I guess it was probably a good thing that Harry didn't like Draco on sight and therefore did not want to be in Slytherin. Course, I always wondered what made Volde decide it was Harry and not Neville that was the chosen one?

Thanks, hmmm, that really would have been torture for Severus, wouldn't it - having Harry in his own House?
introspective

Thanks, brooding!Severus was very much what i was going for.
I love your version on how Severus became a spy. It may be a common theory, but you did a great job freshining it up!

Thanks, it always intrigues me what drew him into the Death Eaters, and how it was that the threat to Lily drew him out agin.
Sad and true to canon. Very moving.

Thanks, I'm glad you think it's true to canon, because I originally wrote it prior to DH and them modified it quite a bit to make it fit better.
I couldn't help but hope that Harry would have turned out to be Sev's. Just like I'd hoped that the Titanic didn't really sink. This was a heart-wrenching tale, and very will written.
