Thank you for the review and the rating.  It took me a few moments to realise what 'snilly' meant... lol.  The poem helped to set the scene and direct his thinking... at least, if I interperted the poem correctly.  I enjoyed writing this short story, and I am glad that you enjoyed it.  Thank you.

Thank you so much... I can't believe how generous people have been!  I admit to a sniffle or two while writing it... and I am surprised by the response.  It was really only written in response to a challenge as an exercise to try to improve on my floundering attempts... I am still grinning!  My beta needs thanking too, her patience and advice have polished my potential submissions into something that is, hopefully, worthy.  Thank you again, such reviews make me think that a hobby can be so much more.
