I am an avid Harry Potter fan.  I am currently discovering the pleasure of writing my own fan fiction.

I am pragmatic person who yearns to be an optimist, but I know better.  I think maybe I am related to Severus.

Northwest born I now live in the midwest.

You know what I like? That you're obviously exploring the darker side of self, where few people dare to go. It's brave.

"They block the cry"-- good line. It's still there in us, just can't come out, or we won't let it. We're grown women, now. Nice.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your thought proviking review!  My favorite aspect of poetry is how it has the capacity to speak to each reader as an individual.  I would truly be interested to hear what you have to say about my other poetry...I have posted others to TPP.  Thanks Irish

You really know your way around poems. . . that was just beautiful. I speak as an ameateur poet when I say:

That was the best piece of poetry I've ever read that was written by one of my peers. I mean, Keats is alright, but he's not really an 'ameteur,' but in my opinion you're really good!

Katie,

Thank you so much for your well, overwhelming review! As you can tell I too am an ameateur poet. Poetry for me is a way to express feeling and emotions when real life is too much to handle. Thank you again! Irish

Wow, that brought old memories to the surface.  Very moving.  Well done.

Response from irishredlass (Author of Why?)

Thank you.  I am pleased that you appear to have enjoyed ALL the poems that I have posted. This poem was a challenge because of the memories, but that is why it had to be written.  We all have our own question of "Why?"I am not ashamed to say that my question was based on the fact that I am a survivor of childhood rape.  It took many years for me to come to terms with my father not being there to protect me.  He had already passed away.

wow.  this poem contains some really powerful images, and develops a nice rhythm as it builds to its conclusion.  i'm impressed.

Your reviews are a writers dream come true.  I can tell that you really have thought about the words written and the feeling that they envoke.  Thanks again and again Irish

Response from kittylefish (Reviewer)

you are quite welcome.  i try when i write a review to be as specific as i can.  while i'm sure it's nice to see "i like it," which is usually my first thought, i imagine it's also nice to sometimes know a little more about why.reading your poems has reminded me that i have thought of trying to post a little poem to this site.  if i do, i'm sure that if even one person says "i like it," that will feel like the best review ever!

Response from irishredlass (Author of Why?)

Be sure to let me know when you brave the waters of posting. Why? is one of my favorite poems.  Just for you I will tell you that it is based on my own past.  I had a loving father who left me when I was quite young.  He was not there to protect me when I needed protection most. So, I asked "why?" though the reason was obvious. Irish

Response from kittylefish (Reviewer)

thank you for sharing the background with me.  it makes the poem that much more poignant and sad.btw, my tiny little poem is up!  that was super quick.  it's in the original poetry category.  i will be interested to hear your thoughts.

You've captured incredible sadness with this poem, which makes it a very worthwhile read.

Response from irishredlass (Author of Why?)
