Happy to note that I'm not the only one who could argue for Hermione as godmother, as a careful reading of the DH Epilogue allows us to to fantasize that Hermione and Ron did not end up married. At least not to one another.
As for the initials, I should have noticed (but didn't, you clever witch you!) that A.S.P., since I am myself W.E.W.! and the daughter of J.A.W. Parents need to look at these things!

I came up with this just after I finished DH, when that horrible crapilogue was preying on me. So I went back and checked - there is not a single word there that says Hermione is those childrens' mother! Then I noticed the initials, and it all fell into place.
Parents do, indeed, need to look at these things. And thank you for commenting.

Very entertaining.
I've always felt parents have a duty to give their kinds names that won't result inem getting ridiculed or beaten to a pulp every day in school. My daughter's initials don't spell anything and her name, although it can be shortened, it does not lend itself to any rude rhymes or not-really-humourous puns but some parents are just cruel. I actually work with a bloke called Hugh Mann. That's his name, honestly!!!! His parents must have hated him!!!!!

Exactly! We put a lot of thought into those issues when we named our kids. As soon as I saw the name Albus Severus, knowing his last name was Potter, I thought "that's a kid who's going to get teased." Then add in the whole snake theme at Hogwarts, not to mention his Dad being a famous parselmouth, and the kid might as well get a tatoo of dart board.
Hugh Mann. That's child abuse.
I'm glad you were entertained.
That was funny. Is it something unique for the Wizarding World, or is all English speaking sphere so acronym-sensitive?We gave our girls pretty ordinary names, and their initials don't mean anything at all - but after reading another fic mentioning names that give kids trouble at school, I'm getting a little paranoid. What if they are going to be teased in the States for their Polish first names, and in Poland for their English middle ones?Anyway, great fic. Big Hug!(Maria, the paranoid mum)

I don't know that many people are acronym sensitive. I am - it was something we thought about when we named the little Buzzes - so I noticed the ASP immediately, which is what prompted the drabble.
No idea about Poland, but the US is pretty multicultural these days. Even where the actual population isn't, using exotic sounding names is quite popular. So I don't imagine that your kids will have trouble with that. *soothes the paranoid

I'm glad you enjoyed the drabble.

Mmmmm.[feels soothed]
I don't know that Rose's initials are as bad as all that...I remember reading something somewhere a very long time ago to the effect that if a child's initials spell a word when written backwards as well as forwards (such as in R.A.W. and W.A.R.), that child will be blessed with very good luck!
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of What's In A Name)
I've never heard that; what an intriguing idea. Of course, kids at school are more likely to tease than to consider the blessings. I do think Albus Severus has been dealt a poor hand there.
I'm sorry I guees RAW ant ASP are supposed to mean something funny but I'm clueless and I'm sure I'm missing the fun in this. Please HELP
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of What's In A Name)
They are acronyms. Raw, as in uncooked. An asp is a kind of snake. Does that help?
Response from snitchette (Reviewer)
yes thanks
