I find myself reminded of Miss Havisham, the jilted bride of "Great Expectations" for whom life essentially stopped when she heard the news that her bridegroom had abandoned her. Like Hermione in this story, Miss Havisham refused to move on and insisted on remaining the way she had been when her lover last saw her,  Tragic, heartbreaking, and disturbing.

lol...!  the first thing that would pop into my head is ...*73 yrs later*"Snape walks in" 'Mione see's him... "What took you so long?  You went to get Milk and Sanitary Pads!"lol

Response from Ladymage Samiko (Author of Penelope)

*chuckle*  It's the pads that did it.  It took him 70-odd years to work up the guts to ask the shop assistant where they were in the store.

Response from chyara (Reviewer)

*snort*yep...well at least he wouldn't go hungry in the grocer aisles.

You wouldn't believe, but these few words have practically reduced me to tears. He is not coming, still she waits. She is nourished by a desperate hope and, more than a hope, by her love. Until it exists, love will never admit defeat and will feed itself on a continual quest.
Sorry, but I'm crying again. Forgive this old, emotional Italian girl. And thanks for sharing.

why the heck is she just passively waiting away her life?  she needs to go out and have a look around, I'd say.

Response from Ladymage Samiko (Author of Penelope)

Normally, I think she would.  (You might want to read my fic 'butterfly wings' on ashwinder.)  But here, she's still suffering from trauma from the war and hasn't been able to put herself back together.

How..depressing :(

I wish to see them together and not apart. But this could happen to them...if it's the real life...
