I have loved the written word since watching my mother’s fingers trace the lines of a book, luxuriating in riveting tales and well-turned phrases. Many a night I read until dawn, a plastic flashlight hidden under the covers to light the pages as I raced the rising sun to finish my latest must-read.

Since joining the HP fandom, I've been privileged to receive more than 50 awards, including Best Author (Quill to Parchment Awards) and Best Classic Author (Most Potente Passions). Among others, my stories have won awards for Best Hurt/Comfort (Spoils of War, Morning Has Broken), Best Novel Length (Calling Card, Guard…Check…Mate), Best One Shot (A Beach in Ireland), Best WIP (Saving a Death Eater, The Summoning), Favorite Overall Story (Complexities), and Readers’ Choice (A Quest of Paladins).

Aside from a judicious polish for formatting and egregious typos, I don't plan on revising my early work. Those stories are the stepping stones of my writing journey. Please note some stories contain adult content. None is more graphic than equivalent scenes in the television shows True Blood or Game of Thrones, and age appropriate warnings are posted.

I no longer write fanfiction prolifically. Like many fanfic authors, my focus has shifted to original work. A member of the Romance Writers of America and the Southern California Writers Association, I write under my name: Lin Thornhill.

My original story Verisimilitude published in Thoroughly Modern Monsters (Story Spring Publishing, 2013) reached the top 100 fantasy anthologies and broke into the top 10 in the UK the first month of release. Ben and Christine’s story will continue in 2016.

Fixation, my latest short story, slated for publication in J. Aldis’ anthology Immanence, with a winter 2015-2016 release, is particularly exciting as it anchors the Messengers of Inari novel series I’ve been developing for the past year.

I can't count the number of new elements in this chapter that I absolutely loved!  It is one of the most beautiful portraits of Hermione and Harry's friendship growing into adulthood.  Their bond of both being separated from their Weasleys of choice is very touching.  I think I can see a bit of where Hermione is about to take them, and I like it.

Response from Bambu (Author of Saving a Death Eater)

I really appreciate your comment about Harry and Hermione's friendship.  Hermione's staunch loyalty is such a mainstay of her character, and I wanted to show that Harry not only understands and deserves it, but his friendship for her has become equally deep. You probably can see some of where this is going, but I  haven't quite figured it out yet.  Thanks for your lovely review.

I just reread this chapter in preparation for reading chapter four (WOOT), and all of these months later, this story is still among the most thought-provoking to have come out; each chapter is a treasure. But now I don't have time to read chapter four now.  I guess it will keep until tonight!

I like where you are going with this. I can envision the Weasleys banding together to grieve, leaving the orphan Harry and the virtual orphan Hermione on their own. I can also see Harry and Hermione becoming sibling-like, especially after Ron's desertion from the tent.  In the movies, I think the actors that play Harry and Hermione have major screen chemistry. However, I don't logically see them as developing a romance.

Response from Bambu (Author of Saving a Death Eater)

::nods:: Exactly.  The Weasleys' reactions are perfectly natural and understandable, but it also shows vividly just where Hermione fits in Ron's world.  Harry/Hermione ... definitely siblings by choice.  Having said that, I believe that if they were to ever cross that line, then there would be no going back and nothing would ever separate them. Thanks for letting me know what you thought about the chapter.

Oh, I was thrilled to notice that this story had been updated.  I hadn't even realized there was a second chapter! The idea of the memory attatching itself to her is stunning!  I love the way you use the image of Snape in bed with a book.

Response from Bambu (Author of Saving a Death Eater)

Thanks so much.  It's one of those stories which seems to take on a life of its own ... I don't know where it's going and that's pretty scary but fun.Isn't Snape a tasty bit of eye candy?  What more could any bibliophile want?

The wonderful random button took me here, and I enjoyed your ideas greatly. Pomfrey is a good choice to include in a secret. Who would ask her. She can assume the role of just a nurse fussing about every scratch. The secret ward is a great idea, although, seeing the Longbottoms, St Mungo's didn't strike me as such a well-to-do institution. So, they cleaned the bookshelves to protect witches and Unicorns alike? Sounds reasonable, considering the implications you give. And Severus nauseatic, yes, he would be. It is great that he at least saved the herd in New Forest. I love how you add details like these! What's all this fertility talk there?A great story, please do continue!!

Response from Bambu (Author of Saving a Death Eater)

Thank you very much for your encouragement; I'm afraid I've been injured (both arms actually) and haven't been writing in the last couple months.  Once my cast comes off, however, I'll be able to type a little more.

Response from Bettina (Reviewer)

Oh, I'm sorry to read that! all the best for the healing process, but do make slowly.

Response from Bettina (Reviewer)

Hi, are you still planning to continue this story? it is such a wonderfully unique installment.

really interesting premise and a great start to it - I'd like to encourage you to continue with this piece - I'm going to go look and see if it is posted elsewhere and this site just hasn't caught up.  Thanks for sharing your work

Response from Bambu (Author of Saving a Death Eater)

Well, thank you very much for your lovely review, and I can now quite happily report that there is a fourth chapter, which I updated today.  It's a very short story arc overall, and there only remain three more chapters in total, but I do hope you enjoy them.

Response from Bambu (Author of Saving a Death Eater)
