Thank you for that! I was trying to make Eileen Prince come across, not so much a downtrodden little creature like Voldemort's mum, but instead as a woman who, due to circumstances beyond her control, was willing to put up with a lot to get what was needed, in this case, shelter and a magical education for her son. It occurred to me that we've only got Harry's interpretation of Snape's memory that the abusive man was Snape's father.  And I thought that often people resemble their grandparents just as much, and in some cases more, than their parents.  Plus I get a bit sick of all the "Snape's dad was abusive/alcoholic/etc."  So I decided to make the man instead his pureblood grandfather, ashamed of the halfblood in his family.I'm glad you liked the story.  Alison
