I am: an unrepentant Snape supporter, female, mid-thirties, a person that loves me the het and gen fic, a big fan of Darkfic and Death Eater fic, a person that doesn't t like werewolves, a person that doesn't care for about 99% of the slash, which (despite vehement protestations to the contrary), does not make me homophobic. I just don't like AU and OOC, and that's what most slash is. At least, most of what I've seen.

:( Unfortunately, no. Chapter 5 was a real chore for me to write because when I'd come up with the plot, I hadn't thought of anything beyond "Regulus Arcturus Black".
In order of preference, my desired magical abilities are Apparate, Scourgify, Pack, Occlumency (which I think I'd probably be naturally good at), Legilimency, probably flying, and then it delves into some sort of magical "general", wherein Potions and Transfiguration come in. :P
You have certainly captured my attention. I want to know what happens next. I have questions, but I need a bit more information before asking them.

The last chapter is in queue. :) I try to finish my stories before uploading them, as a rule, but the poor mods get all kinds of bombardment.
Just out of curiosity, what are your questions? I'll be able to answer the ones that aren't answered in the final chapter (assuming there are any!)

I found this story a while back and bookmarked it so that I could read it later. I was cleaning out my bookmarked items and realized I'd never read it. I'm so sorry I didn't read it earlier. This was a fantastic fic and you did a brilliant job on it. I had guessed Regulus and Dumbledore, but I was completely thrown on the others. When I first started it, I was happy there were only 5 chapters, because I'm impatient and didn't want to read 30 before I got the end. But, now I find myself wanting more. That is a mark of a very talented author and I thank you for that.~

Don't apologise for not reading it sooner! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's a bunny that took over my life and I had to write it out.
Oddly, after I had the entire first chapter written, I went to a friend's new house several hours away. It was almost *exactly* as I pictured Regulus' little bungalow (even on the end of the street!) and her stepson is very tall, very thin, has black hair and blue eyes.
It was . . . quite strange. :)
I'm kind of glad you got Dumbledore & Regulus, but I also have to wonder when you picked up on them. :D

I picked up on Regulus was in the first chapter at the mention of "his sadistic cousin." That was when I thought it was either Reg or Sirius. But, I knew it was reg when I read: "Even still, he knew that his brother – wherever he was – would approve of what he'd done." I picked up on Dumbledore at the beginning of the second chapter when his blue eyes twinkled with concern. Who else has twinkling blue eyes? LOL!! But Snape, that was really good. I didn't pick up on him until the end.
OMG ! This was FANTASTIC! I couldn't stop reading until the end! EXCELLENT!

I was pretty sure Reginald was Regulus Black (I'm certain now), and I think the red-haired twins are the Prewetts (Gideon and Fabian, if I remember correctly). They're the only ones that draw actual names to mind.

Hmmmmmm...a very interesting and intriguing beginning. I don't recall that I've read a fanfic which delves into the issue of just how and where a witch or wizard would go and how they would manage if they wanted or needed to "disappear" into the Magical equivalent of the Witness Protection Program! "Reginald Browne" is obviously Regulus Black -- are some of these other people from canon, or are they simply original characters? I can only assume that you'll let us know what's behind Curtis's strange behavior...?

All the characters are canon - some somewhat obscure, others not so much. I'm not quite talented enough to pull off an OC.
Regulus Black is a common guess. ;)
