Their first Christmas as a married couple find Severus and Hermione with many projects. The Christmas Rose Potion, a litter of increasingly alarming kittens, and the long-awaited wedding of Ronald Weasley and Luna Lovegood are only the beginning. Rating for later chapters. This story is a sequel to Master of Enchantment, Bast: Operation Kitty, Meet the Parents, Meet the Boys, Meet the Beetles, Nobody Told Me There'd Be Days Like These, and A Hallowe'en Tail.

Reviews for The Christmas Rose
“Never,” he affirmed. “There is always only ever now, my Pet.”I'm melllltiiiiing! Wow, that is SO good! The whole chapter is excellent. I'm such a sucker for "good will toward men" etc. (Just had an instant where my "never wrong" hubby took my suggestion, and then made a special trip to my study to tell me he was wrong, I was right. And then Severus makes his self-discovery. Yay!) Thanks for an excellent series, and for this wonderful addition to it.

*big smile* I'm so glad that you enjoyed the story, Jenonymous -- and amused that the reading of the story coincided with some interesting real life coincidences. I truly appreciate you taking the time to leave a note for me.
redemptive, cute and beautiful. thank you for the lovely gift!

*sigh* Bitter-sweet, in that this touching tale has come to an end. Please pass on my praise and good wishes to your Slytherin as well.(I finished this, and went and gave my Hufflepuff a hug while the warm feeling was with me. Him:What's brought this on? Me:Reading fanfic. Him (hopefully): Smut? Me (swatting him):No! Him:Well, this is okay, too. Me:)

Awww! What a sweet story! Please give my regards to your Hufflepuff, as well. I am glad that you enjoyed this story and understand what you mean about the bittersweet feeling. Happy Christmas, my dear.
A very nice chapter.

Thanks, Kira! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a note.
Dear Subversa, so kind of your response to me, I began to read the 'Enchantment' series from this fiction, and once I began, I cann't stop before finishing all. It's too brilliant stories I've read to what I could compliment more. Romance should be every ladies' soft spot. And I know from your notes U have a Slytherin-Snape-likes husband. It should be so happy and romantic wedlock. I'm even a sort of envious of you. *^_^*

Apolun, thank you for the lovely note! I am so that you enjoyed all of the Enchantment stories; I am very fond of them, as well. Happy Holidays to you and yours, my dear.
What a romantic love of HG & SS, and what a romantic fiction of your 'enchantment' story. I love it so much!the reunion and reenactment idea is brilliant! ^_^

Apolun, thank you for your kinds words. It is a very romantic story; that is my personal weakness and I infuse my stories with it. I appreciate your comments more than you know.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!I love this chapter! It had me giggling all the way through... and house-elf sex... a mixture of awww and ewww! Lol!And yes, you are a "lucky wench" *smile*I look forward to the next chapter!
Response from Subversa (Author of The Christmas Rose)
*grins* I'm so glad you liked it, doll. Yeh, I can't quite wrap my brain around house-elf LURVE and don't plan to attempt it! LOL! Thanks for the note!
OH the ending was beautiful. Thank you to your Slytherin and you.
Will the Potters' get a kitty? Will you be writing a chapter or two on the dispersing of kitties?
Will you be writing a chapter or two on the Weasley/Lovegood marriage? Will the Snapes have a potion for poor Ronald? Hopefully not what the Twins used in the Christmas punch.
Will Quirk & Holly make a go of it? Did Hermione tell them to decorate the home for a New Years Eve party (which Severus doesn't know about yet)?
Waiting for more. You've made my day.

As usual, Miss Patty, your brain is so full of story ideas that I wonder sometimes that you don't just pop!
*goes off to ponder NY story idea*
This chapter warms the cockles of my heart, which really need it. Thanks.

That section with Quirk and the kitty babies was FABULOUS! Of course, then there's the kitty-babies with Percy! Snork! I am so accustomed to splendid chapters from you, this one should come as no surprise, but it was really a gem.
Response from Subversa (Author of The Christmas Rose)
I'm so glad you enjoyed Quirk and the kitty babies! We had more fun planning out the exploits of the X-kitties. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a note, my dear.
ah, leave it to Percy, perhaps my least favorite Weasel, to poke his nose where it doesn't belong. Still enjoying the read (and ride).
the magickal kittens (and their parents) rock.
Response from Subversa (Author of The Christmas Rose)
Yes, Percy is my least-favourite Weasley, as well. I'm so pleased that you like the X-Kitties! Thanks for the note, my dear.
Lonely is a clever kitty, being very much like Crookshanks as far as powers go. I'm glad you could see the "bad" kitties "being kitties" all over the red-haired wizard. My personal favourite is the vision of Quirk standing on Percy and beating him with the coal shovel.
More to come, my dear -- thanks for the note!
Response from Subversa (Reviewer)

The kittens are so cute!!! I could just picture them while I was reading. I was so happy when Lonely sensed Percy! YAY he has powers too! Can't wait for the next chapter!!!

I'm hopelessly in love with Quirk!!!! He is just so cute! You did a wonderful job in bringing in the comic relif with him.
Seriously? This right here:*Rita looked up in confusion, and in a penetrating voice, said to no one in particular, “Who the hell is Martha Stewart?”*F*cking BRILLIANT.
Response from Subversa (Author of The Christmas Rose)
THANK you! I will never forget the moment when that line occurred to me, and I was *so* proud of it, but in the wash of so many other things going on in that chapter, it didn't receive much notice.
This was such a sweet one!! I really loved that he set it up so they could re-live that night in the kitchen. And at the end of this chapter I almost felt the need to cry! They both really learned from one another. It's nice to see them not only go through their romance but also see what their married life is like. Very nice job you have both done!
