It?s a simple eulogy written and delivered in late 2003 for my grandmother?s funeral. Maybe my words can comfort someone else.

Thankyou for posting this. I can imagine that it stirs up some pretty deep emotions.
While you find the eulogy rough and not polished, I humbly beg to differ. Sure editing may 'polish' it, but only the style, not the content. The content is timeless - it speaks volumes about who she was and what she stood for, and the love she engendered. I can only hope that I could write something as heartfelt and illuminating as the prose above when the time comes, much less than in such a short period of time, while grieving intensely. I suggest you console yourself that the behaviour of your family, while saddening is unfortunately common, and hopefully with time the disagreements will be less. She seems to have been a wonderful woman. Thankyou for sharing it in to your archive for us to read.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your kind words. :) Much time has passed now, and sometimes it's still hard when it hits me. Death is so hard to deal with. I find that writing helps when I'm melancholy. ~hugs~
I never thought that I would find comfort on a fan fiction website. Usually its a guilty pleasure for me. But I wanted to thank you for posting your thoughts and the poetry. My husbands mother Joan passed away this time of year in 2005. I have been thinking about her a lot. The poem Come to Me really spoke to me. Thank you again for posting this.

Thank you so much for writing to me. Today is the anniversary of her death. It's quite the coincidence that I get a review for this today. (((Hugs))) Poetry sometimes has a way of reaching out to us (fanfiction as well). I've written a fiction story titled "Fade" that deals with the stages of grief and moving on. If you ever have time, maybe you could read that and feel a kinship over it.
I don't easily cry over something, but this honest and loving piece of work really made me weep; it was so beautiful.I have never known 3 of my grandparents, as they all died before I was born, and I never really liked my still living grandmother, but I think I'll go and pay her a visit when I'm near again. It's not easy to do so now, because I live so far away from her.Thank you for uploading it here for everyone to read.

Thanks. This was a very hard in my life. :) Go see her. If you don't, one day you'll be thinking you should have. :)
I'm reading through your work and couldn't help but read this one; it's so beautiful. Your grandmother sounded like an amazing person.

Thank you very much.
Hey SW - That was beautiful. The love and admiration you felt for your grandmother was evident not only in the words you wrote, but in the simple and honest way they were written. My own grandmother died a little over a year and a half ago, and during her funeral mass, my brother got up to speak. He had not rehearsed anything; he has been a member of AA for over 10 years now, and is quite used to speaking to groups. I can't remember everything that he said, but I will never forget one thing, because it came totally from his heart and was the most truthful thing I have ever heard. He said: "She was, quite simply, the most beautiful soul I have ever known." I get that same feeling from reading your eulogy for Mama. She IS still smiling down at you... and she's very, VERY happy and proud that you shared this with us. God Bless.

Thanks so much. That's a beautiful line. Too bad he wasn't able to write it down somehow. That's the only reason I still have this. I used to practice for my speeches like that, writing them first. I've printed it out on pretty paper and framed it. LOL! I read over it sometimes and wish that I'd taken more time for it or that she deserved better words, fancier even, but the I realize that would have been a bit "fake" and not who she was. She was a simple woman, never putting on any fake airs or anything.I figure she likes it just fine, especially because it's mine. Thanks for your kind words.
