I always feel extremely strange when I'm writing these things, having never really been all that good at talking about myself. In any case, here are the basics: I'm a 41-year-old Canadian who started reading the Harry Potter books about twenty years (!) ago just to see what all the fuss was about. I wrote my first fanfic about a year later, and I've been semi-active in the fandom ever since. I am very musical; I play the bagpipes, I've played the violin since I was about nine years old and I sing with two choirs (a community choir I've been singing with since 1997 and a church choir I've been singing with since late 2008). Writing is also one of my many obsessions, and (much to my relief) the monstrous case of writer's block which grabbed me for a couple of years seems to be gradually letting go. Even so, should I submit any chaptered fics here, it's reasonable to assume that the updates will be pretty far apart even if they're actually finished before I start posting. It's not intentional; I'm just, at times, a little forgetful.

Well, that will get a good laugh in the staff room later. Although, secretly I hope that he goes in there and finds that indeed there are some sort of bog roll creatures. How would he explain injuries from that?!
Response from Pennfana (Author of Bog Rolls)
Perhaps he could say that he got wrapped up in something rather dangerous? ;)
Bog rolls have been known to strangle trees-especially at Halloween. ; )
Response from Pennfana (Author of Bog Rolls)
They have indeed. I once saw a relatively short coniferous tree of some sort that had been so painstakingly toilet-papered that it looked like it had been mummified.
A Huffelpuff and Slytherin class is an interesting concept, but I'm not sure the school can survive. I bet the whole staff room will get a laugh out of it as well.
Response from Pennfana (Author of Bog Rolls)
Given the way that staff rooms operate, I'd say that's pretty much inevitable. Glad you enjoyed the story!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That's awesome! :D :D :D

Thanks, lin! Glad you enjoyed it.
Those bog rolls can be scary wee beasties! :)
Response from Pennfana (Author of Bog Rolls)
They certainly can. :)
The idea of scarey bog rolls would have had me in hysterics, too :D

They really don't seem to be the most threatening objects in existence, do they? This fic came about as a result of a rather serious discussion that I was having with a close friend this past Monday—and because he knows that I write fanfic and he's been slowly reading through the Potter books (actually, he's got my copies), and the situation seemed to warrant it, he made reference to the spell that's used to subdue Bog Rolls. He was a bit confused about why I burst out laughing until I explained precisely why the mistake was so funny, and when I remarked that I would now absolutely have to write a story which incorporated that precise misunderstanding, he didn't just give me permission to use it, but said he looked forward to seeing the results. (And actually, I showed this to him this afternoon, and I'm rather pleased to say that he enjoyed it.)

Even worse than a bog roll that needs subduing is a bog roll that has long since been subdued and is just a cardboard core of its former self. *picks self up off floor and tries to stop laughing

That's precisely the reaction that I was hoping for. Alas, that seems to be the fate of every bog roll. (Well, unless it finds itself clawed to bits by an enthusiastic cat, and I can't work out whether that's a better fate or a worse one!)

Is a bog roll a roll of toilet tissue? That's the impression I got from this. <wanders into laundry room, looks at spare rolls and imagines them turning into Snape in drag...> It's good that Lupin got a good chuckle. He's so serious. Enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing.

That's exactly what a bog roll is. And I'm glad that you enjoyed this little bit of silliness.

Very good. Bog rolls getting mixed up with boggarts! at least the idea didn't go down the pan, it was flushed with sucess! great tale. :)

Nice puns! But as I said in the notes, I can't take the responsibility (or credit) for this idea. I'm just glad that my friend's sense of humour is every bit as twisted as mine is!

Oh, Stebbins is a sweetie for giving Remus a good hearty, much needed laugh--this peek into a day in the life of my favourite werewolf and a lesser known but flustered Hufflepuff has me grinning ear to ear! 'a quill that turned into a Muggle blowtorch'-HA! Love Lupin's gentle patience
