Up until a few years ago, I was adament that these two wouldn't work for me. But, you do them so well, now and always, that I can hardly argue my old way of thinking. This was beautifully written, and theirs is a story where one part of me thinks the whole world ought to know about them, and the other part finds their situation and relationship too personal and special to be shared. Lovely story.

Thanks for this lovely review! In fact, I think you could make a pretty good case that SS/MM wouldn't happen -- that they'd never get together in the first place b/c that she wouldn't be able to get past his DE history and/or b/c he wouldn't be interested -- but, clearly, I find it more fun to imagine that they somehow make it work. /g/ Thanks so much for reading and commenting.~~Kelly
I just finished rereading this wonderful story and loved as much this time as I did the first time.

I'm not sure what to think, I guess mostly because I'm still a bit confused. Where did they go? Who was the letter from? If Voldemort won the Hogwarts battle, was he eventually defeated? I want more to this story!! Lol

Thanks for reading, Copper Dragon! Yes, in my AU, Voldemort is eventually defeated, ten years after he wins the Battle of Hogwarts; as Ivo says early in Chapter 1, it's been thirty years since Voldemort won at Hogwarts and twenty years since he was overthrown. So this story takes place in 2028. As to who sends McG and Snape the letter and where they go -- well, I'm afraid we don't know. I wanted to show how history works sometimes: we never find the answers to some questions. I wanted to end ambiguously, with the reader knowing no more than Ivo does.~~Kelly
a well-written fascinating story, now I will check if there are more from your hand

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.~~Kelly
Oh, Kelly. This is such a beautiful story. Beautifully crafted and beautifully written. Seeing the relationship between Minerva and Severus through the eyes of Ivo, a thoughtful and caring man, was perfect. I loved that he understood that Miss Morris was doing what she thought was important work, but he also understood that there was no way she could truly understand those times no matter what he told her. When people have to run for their lives and hide away in heavily warded, hidden camps, the need for things like privacy take a back seat to the reality of what they are living through.
I adored the way this "greying, diffident old man" answered her questions about their "intimate" goings on in simple words and always in a way that spoke volumes about the high level of respect he held for Severus and Minerva.
I hope that one day you will take up your quills again and create for your readers to another look into the lives of these two heroes and warriors who were willing to put everything on the line to defeat the Darkness.
Thank you for another wonderful look into their lives.

Ooh, I'm so glad you're posting this here. You know how much I love this fic--the third-party observation of two mysterious characters, the academic references, the vividly drawn OCs...
Response from kellychambliss (Author of Witness)
It's thanks to you that the story is here -- I'd completely forgotten that I hadn't posted it to TPP until you mentioned something about it. So glad you still enjoy it! Thanks for all your support for this fic.~~Kelly
Once again, you've got me enthralled from the first word. So many questions and so few answers ... I look forward to discovering the story of the professors.

I hope you won't be disappointed! I have a penchant for ambiguity. . . But I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thanks so much for commenting.~~Kelly
•Ivo Dobrev, a Durmstrang student who had been at Hogwarts during the Triwizard Tournament.•Diantha Morris, Researcher, Dark Wars Oral History Project.•the Dumbledore Institute.•...if Ivo was shocked to see her lean over and kiss Snape's cheek lightly, he was even more shocked when Snape pulled her into his arms and rested that same cheek against her hair.*\o/* *\o/* *\o/* Woo Hoo! *\o/* *\o/* *\o/* With less than 4,000 words you have me completely ensnared in another story. I can't wait to see what you have in mind for Severus and Minerva this time. Beth

Thanks, Beth! I hope you'll like the rest. I'm always a little wary of OCs in HP fic, so I'm glad you're enjoying them here. Thanks for the review.~~Kelly
This is a very promising start. I rather like Ivo, and hope that I'll have the pleasure of getting to know him better - not just as an observer of events, but perhaps also as having an active role in throwing over Voldy?

Thanks for reading! I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the story.~~Kelly

Wow! This is great! I usually don't like either OC stories or "Voldemort wins" stories, but this one is beautifully written and already beautifully plotted, and it sounds like it's going to be very interesting. They must have disguised themselves soon after, or they would have been recognized by all sorts of people, no? I'm wondering now if their stay was brief, and your story is going to be mainly about the results of Ivo telling his story, or if they were at the camp for some significant events. I'll look forward to your updates.

Thank you! I'm always wary of original characters myself, so I'm really pleased that Ivo is working for you. As for disguises, it's fun that you should mention that issue; it comes up early in the next chapter. Stay tuned. . .~~Kelly
