I picked up the Harry Potter fandom around the time the first movie came out and began writing fanfic early 2005 after discovering the adult online community. I identify most closely with the Slytherins and you will see my taste in writing lends me to writing about Slytherins more often than not. In addition to fanfiction, I also make fanvids on the Harry Potter fandom. I'm a Perfect Imagination acredited beta and am willing to help authors. My main 'ship interests are Snape/OC (never really got into the SS/HG pairing) and LM/any female (with HG as a new favorite). I have dabbled in RL/OC and RL/NT and am okay with those pairings. I generally shy away from slash, just not my thing. For updates on my writing, check out my Live Journal
Reviews for The Sorting Hat
You lost me on Lockhart, Harry Potter wiki has him listed as a Ravenclaw, though it seems it was using movie canon, not book canon. And Hufflepuffs are supposed to have a strong work ethic and sense of fair play(just and loyal). I always saw him as fairly clever, but lazy. Sirius' was perfect. Severus, I had to think about a bit. I misread the first sentence a bit and thought Percy, to be honest. I have often wondered if he would have ended up in Slytherin if it weren't for his family's bias against that house. Hermione's was good also.Poor Neville. Gran really did a number on him, didn't she? Perhaps that's what gave him reserves of strength later in dealing with the Carrows. I would really like to see more of these. Percy I do think would be interesting. And I've always wondered how Pettigrew ended up in Gryffindor. Anyway, all in all I found this a great read and quite enjoyable.

I'm glad you enjoyed these. They were written back in 2006, so if there was information on Lockhart's house, it wasn't out then. I know JKR released a lot of information about characters after the books were completed.I do hope to do more. It's been especially fun for the adult characters to try to figure out how they were at 11.

I really enjoyed that and hope you do more. Though I did truthfully think #3 was Tom Riddle, not Severus. It would have fit him well. And poor Neville. He needs a hug.Looking forward to more. (I think Luna could be quite entertaining)Would also be amusing to see the teachers revisit the hat. For some reason I see older Dumbledore as Slytherin.

It is kind of eerie how similar Tom and Severus were, isn't it? Of course, somewhere in his life, Severus knew what love was and it made all the difference.I really have felt that Neville is misunderstood. He just had a rough start with so much to overcome, but overcome he did and in spades. He definitely showed his Gryffindor side.I am hoping to do more. I need to find a few quiet moments to sit and think.Interesting ideas on the teachers revisiting the hat. I think that Dumbledore is like Harry and could have gone either way. I definitely do seem him as more Slytherin in how he manipulated everyone, though theoretically his goals were noble and not selfish. Thanks for reviewing. :)

Love Lockhart's one. :)

I had so much fun trying to figure out what the hat would want to do with Lockhart. He must have been insufferable at Hogwarts. LOL Thanks for reviewing.

Very interesting, to see things from the hats point of view.

I thought this was tons of fun when the idea was thrown out there. Other than Harry we really don't know what the hat was thinking when it sorted the students, and definitely not for anyone outside of Harry's year.

very nice! i guessed them without your clue at the end - but then I'm a ravenclaw but seriously, i'd love to see a sequel with another round....

I'm glad you enjoyed these. I was part of community years ago where we'd do period drabble challenges and one of them was for sorting and my muses had a field day. I'll have to put on my thinking cap and see who else the muses think would be interesting to sort.

I loved the Snape sorting. Really loved it. I often wonder what would have happened to him, had he been in Ravenclaw. All of then were good - and I do look forward to reading more of them. Percy could be interesting, for one.

I'm glad you enjoyed them. I agree with wondering how things might have gone if Snape had been put in Ravenclaw. Is it possible that he might have ended up with Lily? And then everything would change from there.I like the idea of Percy. I hadn't really thought about it, but he could be fun. I have a few other names percolating for a sequel and now his name is in the mix. Thanks for reviewing.

Very nicely done!As a Slytherin, I'm rather sad to see so much prejudice against my house, though - at least Hermione's talents would have been appreciated there very much.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a bit rough on the Slytherins there, wasn't it? And I consider myself one as well. Part of it was the choice of characters. I just could not ever see Lockhart as a Slytherin and we know how Sirius felt about it. At some point I may look into doing another round of these with some other characters. I can think of a few who would be fun.
