Reviews for Perseverant Aberforth
I love stories that go back and fill in the missing bits of canon.“If I must choose?”Albus grimaced. “Harry.” “Hope I don’t have t’ choose.” “So do I.”So sad!

Thank you!I'm glad you liked that exchange between Aberforth and Albus.

Nicely done. I love the explanation for inappropriate charms on a goat. that was a good one.

Nicely done, especially explaining the 'goat incident'. You have such a knack for these. Really they seem like snapshots that belong in canon. Would love to see them for more and more characters. Thank you for sharing them.

Thank you for reviewing them! I'm glad that you enjoyed the little fics. I figured that Aberforth loved goats, so the "inappropriate charms" story always intrigued me. I'm glad that you liked this explanation! :-)

In this series Aberforth comes across as an honest man, with a kind heart that has been broken a time or two.

I see him as an honest, down-to-earth man of few words whom many underestimate because he's quiet and has simple interests. I'm glad you liked him here!

I just love the series of drabbles. All of them, and I do so hope to read a lot more. The explanaiton of Abe's love of goats was brilliant! And so was the exchange with Albus in "Summer Persuits".

This has me sitting here, sort of hoping that you're going to post a Drabble series for everyone who didn't get explored enough. I liked this. Your Abe seems a very simplistic, hard-working, honerable man.

Thank you -- that was the Abe I was trying to get across. I'm glad you liked him.I've enjoyed writing these drabbles. I began writing them primarily to keep me writing even when I don't have time or energy for my longer fics. However, although I'd planned to do them only through the month of May, I think I may continue longer. They've turned out to be interesting explorations of these characters -- I'm deliberately writing ones I either haven't written or haven't written much of -- as well as being excellent exercises in parsimony, so to speak.I will take your review as a vote to continue them beyond May! :-)

Very nice. Kind of sad. Not enough is written about Abe.

I think there is a lot more to Aberforth than we were shown, and now you have filled in some of those gaps. I like the character you have made him into here!

I love the progression we see in Aberforth here; he starts as a perhaps rough young man of ideals, and as people and ideals fail him, he becomes the Aberforth we see in canon, gruff and bitter. And yet... he still cares about people and ideals. The glimpses of Albus's evolution are also telling--the cavalier way he treats the off-screen girl is painful, because we know it's both very like and unlike the Albus we see later. It isn't that he doesn't care; it's just that there are things besides individual people that must take precedence.

Doing a series of drabbles has been unexpectedly enjoyable, and being able to give snapshots of a character over time, like here with Aberforth, and showing the development of the character while maintaining consistency in him (or her) at the same time, is a large part of the reason.I'm glad that you like the bits and pieces that add up to a bigger picture, and the intersection with Albus's story with Aberforth's, and how that illuminates both characters and their growth as well as some of their more essential traits. Thanks very much for the review. :-)
