Hermione ruins Severus’s plan to “enjoy” Minerva’s birthday party. But perhaps he won’t mind so much... Inspired by a prompt from the lovely and talented Subversa.

I'm a forty-something American woman who is addicted to the SSHG pairing, relatively new to this fandom. I'm also considering starting some original fiction soon...
Check out the story I co-wrote with Remarkable -- it's called "Hidden Attractions" and (as soon as it's through the queue) it's archived under the penname remarkable_linlawless.
For those who are interested, I've got two WIPs at my website (which I will eventually post here, but not until I have a complete draft). It's easy and free to join the website, so I hope you'll visit!
I am honored that my story, Witchy Woman, has been selected as a featured story for September 2010. Better yet, this honor came with the very awesome banner at the top of this post!
Here's a couple of banners my friend Atuliel made for the two WIPs at my website:

Adorable story. Great on its own but would be delighted to read a sequel. Love the SS POV.
*mad grin* She has him by the short & curious.

Severus was not spoiling Minerva's party by standing quietly and having a drink. Surely Hermione, who is hardly a social butterfly herself, understands that some people just don't feel comfortable in large social gatherings. It's not a crime to dislike crowds. Severus will start enjoying himself when he's been there long enough that he can leave without causing offense, and can get back to the fascinating book that's waiting for him in his quarters. Remember books, Hermione? You used to enjoy them yourself, before you became the Heroine of the Wizarding World and started hitting all the parties.

This seems to be a really sensitive issue for you. I'm sorry the story seems to have triggered such a strong response. It was intended, and most seem to have taken it, as a lighthearted flirtation. I feel compelled to point out that Severus was glaring at everyone, not just quietly having a drink. Moreover, Hermione is not described as "hitting all the parties": she's at a party for someone she considers her mentor, which she would hardly be likely to skip even if she never went to another party in her life. Finally, Hermione's approach was simply a way to open a conversation with Severus in hopes of getting him to relax, which seems like something she might do if she worried that Severus's behaviour would upset Minerva. And honestly, he doesn't ultimately seem to have minded. In any event, thanks for commenting.

Aw, this is delightful, funny and romantic.I love Severus pilfering Minerva's best Scotch and noticing Hermione's efficiency in dealing with groping idiots.Methinks this could be the beginning of a wonderful friendship or more.

Lovely imagery there of Snape trying to hide/not hide beside the potted plant. Quite enjoyable and I must agree with the others that I could see this becoming more.Thank you for sharing this little gem.(I must admit my first thoughts on part 2 were evil--Severus waking the 'next morning' & realizing the 'tingling' was all caused by the scotch or that Minerva KNEW he was getting into her special blend and spiked it)

Thank you! So glad you liked! :) (And that would be hilarious -- maybe you should write it!)

What a lovely gem of a story, just the right thing to be read during a thunderstorm that interrupted gardening. Thank you!

I like the angle: Hermione luring Snape. Perhaps Dumbledore is right, and they do sort too early?I'd like a follow-up too :)
Response from linlawless (Author of Dance with Me)
Hehehehe perhaps they do sort too early -- Hermione does seem able to scheme with the best of them. I'm not ruling out more, but it won't be any time soon, most likely. :) Thanks for the review!

Would it be rude to ask for more? Please? :)
Response from linlawless (Author of Dance with Me)
No, not at all! I'm glad you liked it enough to want more. But I can't promise the muse will suggest anything more... :)

Ah, yes. All Gryffindor brashness in presentation, but Slytherin to the bone in execution. He should have got the story from her before agreeing to the dance. Forewarned is forearmed, LOL! Very nice.
Response from linlawless (Author of Dance with Me)
LOL! Not sure she'd have given it *before* the dance... Thanks for the review! :D

How cute. The reference to the MsSkeeter and the jam jar was most delicious. ^_^

Careful there, Severus, or else you might make a fool of enjoy yourself. Minerva will be proud of this day for the rest of her life. I hope Albus' portrait is there to twinkle madly watch.
