What an achingly sad ending. Lucius died a hero in the end, but poor Hermione. Nice bit of a twist having Ginny be the murderer. I admit I started getting a bit suspicious during Hermione's conversation with her before she left to meet Lucius. At any rate, this was a well-crafted little tale and I enjoyed it very much. Well done!

Yes, my soul has been sad recently, so it shows in my writing. I'm glad you liked it though. Thanks for reading!!!

A bittersweet ending of a riveting whodunnit--all of the pieces of the puzzle falling into place, but so sad, poor Lucius, and poor Hermione, and all who were victims of the madness that still dwelt in Ginny and manifested itself outward so violently--great plotline & tale of intrigue!

The plot thickens--love a jealous Ron, and a suspicious Draco (and of course, a little time out for Lucius and Hermione to have some intimacy of their own!) Andromeda being murdered is quite a shock, leaving the intensity of who that is left is guilty and who (& how) is next--wonderful work!

Response from Maria Lynette (Author of Grow, Change, Die)

I think that out of all of the characters in this story, I like Draco the best. I didn't do it on purpose, but I just adore him now that I'm rereading it as I'm posting it to the archives.

Curiouser and curiouser. The circumstances of Andromeda's demise virtually screams set-up. My feeling is that Andromeda might have been involved in the attacks, but if she was, I think it's doubtful she was working alone. Someone else arranged for the attack on Scorpius and I think that might have resulted in her threatening to expose her accomplice. If so, it seems likely that she was killed to shut her up and to make it look like the threat to the Malfoys was over. If she wasn't involved, perhaps Andromeda was able to figure out for herself who the culprit was and thought to deal with him/her on her own. And then there's the Ron factor. The fact that it was he who discovered Andromeda's body, his demands that Hermione stay away from the Malfoys and then his mysterious "client". It all makes Ron look like a very good suspect. Maybe too good. But whether he's involved in the attacks on the Malfoy/Black family or not, I doubt if whatever he's mixed up in is anything good. ^_^

Yes, so many clues, but so many ways to interpret them. I really should have made this a longer fic and added even more twists. The third and final part will be up within the next day. Thanks for reading!

Love the exposition, the narrative setting up all of the characters and their motives, both subtle and not so--lovely intrigue and 'everyone is a suspect' dynamics! Yum!

Hm... I can see a couple possible suspects in the attacks on Narcissa and Scorpius right off. And if someone is targeting the Malfoy family, it sure sounds like Lucius and Draco should both be watching their backs. And Scorpius' as well, since Hermione foiled the initial attempt on his life.Intriguing start, I look forward to seeing what comes next. :)

Oh, no. Greek tragedy. I was really hoping Lucius would pull through. Poor everyone for having their lives pulled out from under them. :(

Wow, Harry the voice of reason. But I love how Hermione explained it to him. Emotions can be very powerful.

Oh, my. Mystery and a grieving Lucius trying to come to grips with no longer being in prison. Someone definitely has it out for him.
