I'm a forty-something American woman who is addicted to the SSHG pairing, relatively new to this fandom. I'm also considering starting some original fiction soon...
Check out the story I co-wrote with Remarkable -- it's called "Hidden Attractions" and (as soon as it's through the queue) it's archived under the penname remarkable_linlawless.
For those who are interested, I've got two WIPs at my website (which I will eventually post here, but not until I have a complete draft). It's easy and free to join the website, so I hope you'll visit!
I am honored that my story, Witchy Woman, has been selected as a featured story for September 2010. Better yet, this honor came with the very awesome banner at the top of this post!
Here's a couple of banners my friend Atuliel made for the two WIPs at my website:

LOL I love that they would argue about a word, but I love her choice of victory food. Now I really want one and don't really feel like making one.

LOL, no kidding. If he's going to be a prat, she's going to make him suffer! Thanks for reviewing! :)

I do not believe for one moment that she lost, but it did make Severus smile, so it's worth a little white lie.

LOL, well, if she *did* lose, she would certainly remember the word forever. ;) Thanks for the review! :D

Ouch! She must have been crushed to lose to a younger competitor. And now Severus knows her dirty little secret. At least she'll have chocolate souffle to drown her sorrows in.Very cute!
Response from linlawless (Author of Zen and the Art of... Spelling?)
Hehehe, thanks! I can only imagine she was scarred for life by that loss! Chocolate souffle does seem like a nice consolation prize (however belated). ;)

ROFL. Er... what does it mean? :P
Response from linlawless (Author of Zen and the Art of... Spelling?)
LOL! I had to look it up myself (snagged the word off the US National Spelling Bee's list of winning words). Here you go (from dictionary.com): suc·ce·da·ne·um [suhk-si-dey-nee-uhm] noun, plural suc·ce·da·ne·a [-nee-uh ] a substitute.
