Rings so true.... I'm a sucker for both of them, but somehow never pictured them together..Thanks

Oops, sorry for the late reply; somehow I missed this kind comment. McGonagall and Moody seem well-suited to me, except for the problem of GoF and why she would be taken in by an imposter. But it's a fun problem to try to write around. Thanks for reading~~~Kelly

Not a pairing I'd normally picture, but you've captured Moody very realistically, even from the "romantic" viewpoint. I enjoyed how both stayed in character while showing a vulnerability that you know they had to have had. This little tale makes me mournful for what happens in canon later, that she'd lose him. Very well done!

Thanks for reading and commenting! I like to think they had a couple more good years together, at least. But you're right -- the canon outcome does cast a shadow over everything.~~Kelly

I'm actually surprised that I liked this. The story is well-written, it's just that I can't picture either Minerva or Mad-Eye with anyone. They both strike me as too private and too set in their ways. My opinion of Minerva has been colored by the new information on Pottermore, and Mad-Eye... I just can't see Mad-Eye beeing foolish enough to let his guard down and trust anyone, or to give in to such weakness. So kudos to you for catching my interest.

Thanks! I'm glad I was able to make Minerva/Alastor work for you. I've always thought they made sense together: of similar age and experience and both with dominant personalities that would cause sparks of all sorts, good and bad. I see Moody as someone whose paranoia developed fairly gradually, so he'd possibly have been more trusting when younger. With the Pottermore Minerva story -- well, I normally just ignore it unless it happens to fit what I want to say. I get a little impatient with JKR's notion that bright, competent adults (Severus, Minerva, Albus) would spend decades anguishing over their first teenage loves. Minerva supposedly spends *40 years* pining for a boy she liked when she was 18, to the point that she won't even consider moving on? I just don't think most people really behave like that -- not if they're mentally healthy, at any rate. I'd rather let her have a little fun with Alastor /g/. Thanks for the kind review!~~Kelly

*snip*Any fool knew that constant vigilance wasn't compatible with a full night's sleep.*snip*As well as any single parent - I can sooooo relate, Alastor! *nods* You have my sympathy! My my my! Alastor is having a bit of a pity party, ain't he, or rather, a BIG tiff - of course, you must understand, I only recognize what I am familiar with - but I'll never admit to having one myself *winks*. Still - because its Alastor, and because its Miss Kelly, its funny! ACK - kids and fanfiction reading don't mix - must continue later .... *gets dragged off*

OK, the goblins are finally sleeping.*snip*It had been Harry Potter's friend, that girl with the odd name...Honoria, something like that? The brainy one with the broom up her bum. She reminded him of Minerva, come to think of it.*snip*Funny you should say that - though JK alluded to it a few times - but I'm still thankful someone besides me noticed! *winks* (yes I'm cheering as much for you as I am for my own arrogance)
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
*snip*They must have had a few other things to do. Surely there had been work, and Order business, and probably she had been at that damned Dumbledore's beck and call, as usual.*snip*You just will NOT give up any love for our dear, unappreciated, self-sacrificing, and bloody sexy Headmaster, will you? *snorts* (not to worry, I've got enough for all of us and won't hold it against you)
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
*snip*Minerva perched primly on the edge of a plain wooden chair, leaving enough space between its straight back and her own to have made any Victorian grandmother proud. The sight brought out the worst in Moody.*snip**slams computer desk in fits of laughter* Oooh - that's good! That's so bleeding good!
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
*snip*Not that his control, or lack of it, was really the issue any more, not now that he was Mad-Eye the maimed. No one but Minerva was daft enough to fuck the old cripple these days. She was just the second woman who had let him touch her — for free — since he'd lost his leg. The only one since he'd lost his eye.*snip*That speaks to me on so many various levels its spooky - and I think it fits Moody perfectly - unless you see Moody as a mandog - the kind of guy who doesn't care who it is as long as its warm and holds still long enough for him to climax - which I don't - nor do you from this tale.Well done lassie. *nods*

likes - I think you've got Moody pegged perfectly! And I very much like that they both put their arrogance/pain aside and actually talk it out - very civil of the both of them! I'm proud! *dabs eye*Now if you don't give us a few more chapters, I shall become enraged and write something vile about said characters, that you'd be hexed to have to read - and it would be written as blood awfully as possible, or at least, as badly as I can .... not quite sure what - but I'll think on it. *bats lashes* Pwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeese, more chappies? Not just your typical one two and drop us off the bus wondering where the rest of our change is??? Pweeeeeeeeeeeese - a few more chappies? Some kindness and warmth and some shelter from all of this war and everything it incorporates - *gives Albus a over the top smooch that sends the Weasleys running for cover* Oh! Too much sap? sorries... *grins*

! What a fun response. Im going to have to disappoint you a bit, though -- the story isn't going to be terribly long. But I hope there will be some warmth for them /g/. I've always thought that McG and Moody make a good pair.
"You just will NOT give up any love for our dear, unappreciated, self-sacrificing, and bloody sexy Headmaster, will you?"
Ah, but keep in mind that this is *Moody*'s point of view we're seeing, so it's *his* opinion, not mine. Minerva may very well have a different one.
It seems to me likely that Moody would be a little jealous of Albus -- even if he doesn't think there's any romance between Min and Albus, he knows how highly she thinks of the headmaster. So I see him (Moody) as letting that fact color his impression of Albus. He's just a tad possessive, our Alastor.
(And I agree -- I don't see Moody as a "mandog" at all -- I think he's a big softie under that gruff exterior, at least where McG is concerned.)

Oh I have to tease you about Dumbledore, mostly because all the stories I've read of yours come from Snape's perspective, and we all know he's got serious Dumbledore issues - and I much agree, I'd think Alastor would be jealous of Albus - in fact, I use it myself - haha! And for similar reasons *whistles innocently*Hrm - I think Alastor is a big softie over all, not just for Minerva (and if I didn't have Minerva cemeted to Albus in my own mind, I'd have her with Alastor - he's a good fit for her, and a fun one - poise and dignity and flash next to grumpy bulldog is too fun) - you don't get like that - that over protective, unless you have good reason to - and just the way he treats Harry in the books tells me all I need to know - its not a job to him, its his life, he CARES, deeply.*rubs chin* Hrm ... well we'll just have to see how this plays out to see if I can forgive you for the short change - but I'll keep reading - this wee yarn, so far, is the best I've seen from your pen - LOVE EEEEET! Oh, I didn't mention earlier - you write Minerva well - and its fun to see her in a story of yours where its not all pain and agony for a change. *winks and ducks*

This is so pefectly in character - I can just hear the growl and snap of him. As for Barty, it's a wonder he survived long enough to be taken into custody once our Min put it all together. As I said in my note, it's splendid to see you bringing out so many of the finest pieces from your archives !! If this is my required Summer Reading list, I'll be all grins !!
