I didn't know what to expect with a Lily/Narcissa story, but this was truly wonderful. It adds so much more meaning to what Narcissa did for Harry in the forest that night.

Glad you enjoyed it!  I'd never written this pairing before (or since), but I was assigned it for a fest.  I really enjoyed digging into the characters, because I'd never really thought much about either one before.  Thanks for reading.~~Kelly

As always, you take characters that everyone thinks they know so well and find a way to hold a mirror to our perceptions and make us look again, far more carefully.  I thank you for not portraying Lily as a saint and for allowing Narcissa her courage and her heart.  The last lines were exquisite.

Thank you for reading, Moira!  I hadn't thought about this pairing at all until I was assigned to write it, but I really enjoyed thinking through the characters.~~Kelly

This was really inventive and splendidly executed.  I didn't see your final twist coming at all--it actually made me exclaim out loud as I saw where you'd been going.  The opposition between the warmth of Harry's mother and the coolness of Draco's is quite true to canon, and you took that opposition and made a very different, and quite believable, complementarity, and the decision of both was equally sane and essential for self preservation.  What a pity that Harry was feigning death, so Narcissa couldn't have looked into those eyes one last time, just as Severus did!  Nonetheless, I put this in my file of stories that I will always see as lying behind the actual canon, enriching and explaining it.  (And all this despite the fact that I'm not terribly fond of slash, usually.)

Response from kellychambliss (Author of Watchers of the Skies)

What a lovely review; thank you!  I enjoy trying to fit fanfic into the cracks of canon, so I'm really pleased that you think the story makes canonical sense.~~Kelly

I don't normally read femme slash, but this was so beautifully written, and so touching, that I'm glad I took the chance and read it!
