Wow. You have entwined this myth incredibly seamlessly with the story of Severus and Lily. Beautifully rendered artistry! As you know, I am not a fan of Lily Potter, especially in terms of her treatment of Severus, but this story was breathtaking!

Thanks so much! I've known the song 'What is Life?' for ages, and as soon as I read DH, it became Snape's signature tune for me. This challenge was a gift - I've always wanted to write Severus as Orpheus, but didn't know how. It's so much easier for me to sing that aria now - I just think of him!

A great take of the prompt!Also without that challenge you gave us a nice additional scene that JKR very obviously forgot to write down. So fitting that (& how) also A.D. once failed this very task. Well constructed!
